5 out of 5 eggsGreat Switch

Pros: Purchased this for use for home networking and LAN party's with my friends. This switch is built very well, looks good, mounts easily and works right out of the box (as an unmanned switch should.)

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Newegg loves to put this guy on sale often, check your emails and you can save a lot of money on it like I did.

3 out of 5 eggsGigabit and lots of ports, some of which die

Pros: Gigabit - Performance seems good to me

Number of ports

Price

Cons: I got this when I decided to wire CAT-6 in my house. I ended up tearing out one wire thinking it was a broken cable before I realized some of the ports were dead. It was still a decent value, but a bit annoying

Other Thoughts: Might be worth it, but if you plan on using all 24 Ports, you might want to go for a higher quality switch.

4 out of 5 eggsIndicator lights number vertically - ports numbered horizontally?

Pros: Cheap price.
All ports perform at Gbit speed.
Absolutely silent operation.

Cons: The port indicator lights are in 4 rows of 6 columns. The first column is numbered 1 through 4, the second column 5 through 8, and so on.

But the ports themselves are arranged in 2 rows of 12 columns, numbered 1 through 12 on the top row, and 13 through 24 on the bottom.

I have other 8 and 16 port switches where the indicator lights are above the top row ports, and below the botom row ports, making it far, far easier to tell if the port is dead or the cable is bad (no lights), or if the port is operating at 100Mbps (orange light), or 1Gps (green light).

This stupid arrangement of lights on the left side of the switch, oriented in a different manner than the actual ports drives me crazy. Who designs stuff light this?

Other Thoughts: Is it just me, or does anyone else wish the lights were on the front panel and the ports were on the back? I have several 8 port Gbit switches from other manufacturers with the lights on the front and the ports on the back (along with the power cable and on/off switch) thus keeping all the cable clutter in the back, out of the way, with easy to read lights on the front panel. But I have so far been unable to find a 16 or 24 port switch with the same configuration. I often wonder if the people who design these switches actually work with them in the field. Sheesh!

4 out of 5 eggsGood Switch

Pros: It works as advertised. We installed it, applied power and everything linked up. That's about all you can expect from an unmanaged switch.

Cons: The port link indicators are difficult to see unless you're right on top of the switch. I have to use a magnifier to see the port numbers.

Other Thoughts: This unit would be more than adequate for a small LAN, such as in an office or at home. However, being unmanaged, you won't get the control of a more expensive unit.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Using this router as backbone for my house. Everything that has plugged into it has auto-detected at the correct speed. Wide range of devices including PCs, Security system, DSS, game consoles, home automation.
It is in a dedicated wiring closest and runs very cool and quiet.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: For those looking at powerline based home automation, this generates little/no noise on AC circuit. I have my main controller on same circuit as this router and no issues.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very reliable and silent. No fan.

Cons: None. Works as described.

Other Thoughts: I have had this device operating in my unheated garage since 2010 and it has never given me any trouble and never needed resetting. It is the backbone of my gigabit network.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Switch, Greater NewEgg

Pros: Great operating switch for the price. I purchased this switch, then the very next day I received a NewEgg email offering this same switch but $40.00 cheaper, mentioned to newEgg and got a $40.00 credit back to my bank account. This is why I always go with NewEgg First.

Cons: NewEgg probably won't post my review since I've entered a few and they never appear, so I pretty much quit posting them.

4 out of 5 eggsNo problems

Pros: Works well. No problems. Reliable. Cost effective. Green energy. I have had this in 24 hour use for two years and haven't had any problems.

Cons: My only "con" (which I just recently discovered) is that it does not support IEEE 802.3ad LACP which is needed for "teaming" or "bonding". This is required if you have a motherboard with TWO ethernetports that you "team" into one 2gbps port (which my motherboard has). It doesn't really matter much for me because all my other computers are single port and I never have enough traffic that multiple computers are pulling data off the server at the same time...

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Excellent switch, very fast and works well.
Silent (no fans) but stays cool on its own

Cons: The Port ordering for link status lights is very odd, but not worth an egg.

Other Thoughts: Very pleased with this switch, just purchased a second one for my family business.

5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: Has awesome range. This product picks up signals that both of my laptops with internal antennas can't pick up.

Cons: Feels a little bit delicate.

Other Thoughts: I think the reason that others are having problems is that they are installing the utility software.
When windows prompts you for the device driver, direct it to the disc and have it find the driver for you. Do not let the auto start install the utility software. The wireless utility that is in windows is far superior to that on the disc.
