5 out of 5 eggsGreat Switch

Pros: Lots of ports, handles high amounts of traffic, doesn't seem to get too hot. If you're serious about being able to run intensive items with ease on multiple devices this will not disappoint.

Cons: Perhaps the only con might be the indicator lights that are to the side of the ports. I'm used of a traditional 2 light setup right above the port, so at a quick glace you can see which port is down without any question about which port it is.

Other Thoughts: Great switch, I wired my entire house (16 ports currently in use). Were I to wire a clients house I would use this switch.

4 out of 5 eggsNice little rackmountable switch

Pros: Getting decent Gbit speeds in my home network, fits well in my StarTech 12 rack. Needed a small rackmountable switch for my home network to wire up my rooms to a central closet. So far so good, been running 24/7 without having to power cycling, except when I needed to power down everything in the closet.

Cons: The screws for the rack elbows that attach to the switch, seem a little weak. I was using extra caution to avoid stripping the screws, but some of them just did not easily screw in. I'm thinking it may have been the screw holes were not exact.

Other Thoughts: No problems with the switch in use, I would purchase another if needed.

1 out of 5 eggsReplacement already has bad port - avoid

Pros: After ports died, replacement was shipped promptly

Cons: Not a good product. First one I bought had 3 ports go bad within 1 year. The replacement they sent me was an updated model, and it already has 1 port bad. I've had cheaper 24-port switches for many years with no ports going bad. Avoid this product.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat For Money

Pros: I run 4 of these in medical billing office of about 26 people, printers, and all using voip phones. I have two of the older generation (better light layout) and 2 of the newer gen. The older ones I have had for over 3 years, and every port on all 4 still work great.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I keep them in a clean, ventilated cool (not air conditioned) office, mounted in a 2 post rack. They have always been connected to a surge protector running into a UPS, so they have had stable power their entire life. If would recommend and purchase these again.

Manufacturer Response:

We thank you for your feedback as we do appreciate and value your input. Thank you for being a D-Link customer.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Small Business Switch

Pros: The device works out of the box, as you would expect. There are no data transfer issues thus far and it's only used to support 10 VOIP phones in an office.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: This is great for our office. I used it as a dedicated switch for our Cisco VOIP phones.

2 out of 5 eggsOK when it was working.

Pros: When it was working, it did the job.

Cons: Having multiple connection problems after 2 1/2 years of use in a corporate enviroment.

Other Thoughts: I replaced this unit with an unmanaged Cisco switch.

2 out of 5 eggs3 Ports dead after 2 years

Pros: Simple switch

Cons: There are now 3 ports dead on the switch after just 2 years of use. I've had other switches that cost $50 less last much longer with no problems. Very disappointed, given the premium paid. My $100 TrendNet TEG-S24DG was cheaper and so far has no dead ports.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat switch.

Pros: Great switch. Has worked great and great price.

Cons: Switch has run great for the last 3 years, but it just started with problems a few days ago. Found that the ports 1-8 have failed and are dead. The remaining ports will connect to devices but it will not connect to the internet which I have connected on another port. I contacted D-Link and have received a RMA. Will be mailing it to them Monday for a replacement. Seems like a hassle but they do have a 5 year warranty not including fan or power supply.
