3 out of 5 eggsMade it 2 - 3 years

Pros: Plug and play - fire up 12 stations with 2 LAN ports each.

Cons: Purchased 2 of these at the same time about 3 years ago. they both started failing after 2 years of 24/6 usage. Had to power cycle every couple weeks, then more often and now can't keep them up for more than 5 mins.

Other Thoughts: Ironically, I am finding this the best value to replace the dead ones with... so, buying another.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Amazing switch for the price. Has plenty of 10/100 ports and the additional two 1000 ports where an amazing deal. Have my xbox,ps3 and computers on the 100 ports and my servers on the 2gb ports, with some left over for when friends come over. Great for throwing LAN parties or if you have alot of devices to connect. Comes with parts to mount it on a rack.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Mines not as loud as I expected. Heared from reviews that it was relativly noisy, but I don't even knowtice it from 5 feet away, at my computer desk.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Decent switch. Has lasted 5 years so far and doesn't show any signs of failing. Good value for the dollar.

Cons: Had an issues with persistent dropped connections on very long transfers. Solved the problem by switching port after a great deal of troubleshooting.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat switch for lan

Pros: Great switch, the uplink ports are really nice for a lan situation to connect to smaller switches. Many people have mentioned that the fan was loud. I did not notice this problem.I can't even hear the fan. This switch is really awesome for what I use it for.

Cons: DOES NOT WORK WITH VISTA. I tried it with multiple computers, while it works fine with XP and even Windows 7 beta it refuses to work with vista. I found a workaround though, if you plug the vista computers into a secondary switch that does work with vista and plug that switch into an uplink port the computers associate just fine.

Other Thoughts: Great switch for medium sized LANs but not a very good choice if you have a good amount of vista computers.

4 out of 5 eggsTrue..the fan is noisey

Pros: Nice cost to feature benefit to the switch. Does what it is supposed to do pretty well. The gig ports allow my home network to connect the WHS at a good speed. Mounted well in a spare closet in the house.

Cons: Fan is ridiculous. Sounds weak and cheap. From the minute I powered it up is soundes like a hamster running in a wheel.

Other Thoughts: I am happy with the switch for now. As my son grows up I will need to change this switch for one that is quieter, or else nobody will be able to sleep...yes, it is that type of squeaky noise that irritates to no end.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: very clean looking; fan keeps it cool, and is very quiet at the same time(not audible next to any typical computer). cheap solution for a client/server environment without spending the extra money for an all-gigabit switch.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great price-to-performance ratio.
Best money I've ever spent on networking equipment.
great for medium sized lan parties (20-ish people).
would also make a great extension off a 8 port gigabit networking switch (where you could daisy-chain a bunch of them) for massive lans.
remarkably stable.
also, has a fan. how sweet is that? ignore complaints that it's a loud fan. it's perfectly quiet in a room full of REAL gaming computers. disregard the negative comments.

Cons: does not fix human stupidity.
dhcp + interfering static ip assignments = one unhappy server. had to figure that one out myself, but it's my own idiocy that hurt me; not the switch.
thus, no cons.

Other Thoughts: I rigged this bad boy up for a lan party I threw. 22 players, 2 servers, and 1 router-to-internet connection (which also served as a dhcp server). the 2 servers were hooked up to the gigabit ports, which made for perfectly fast distribution to all the computers. the 2 gigabit ports plus the 24 100 megabit ports are perfect for lan parties, as they (theoretically) can send data so fast that it's only (theoretically) limited by the hard drive speed.
suffice to say, it's a good situation when the hard drive speed is what limits network throughput.

this product ran seamlessly. i have great faith in trendnet now that i've used them. i recommend to everyone.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Switch

Pros: I too use this for LAN parties. I love the fact that it has two "extra" ports that are gigabit while the other 24 are 10/100. So far it's been very reliable under heavy loads.

Cons: The fan does sound like a jet and can be heard above more than a dozen gaming computers.

Other Thoughts: I may buy a small rack one of these days. This does come with the tabs to mount in a rack.
