5 out of 5 eggsPerfect as advertised

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM650 650W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Fully Modular cable design, with flat black cables. Great for keeping the computer innards super clean and tidy.

Absolutely silent. With a Kaveri build, even under 100% load with some minor overclocking, the power supply shows how much energy draw it's pulling. I've never even cleared 105 watts total. I'll be able to put the most hungry of graphics cards in down the road, and it still might not even be enough to make the PSU kick out of zero fan rpm mode. Even if it did, I know that the graphics card would then be much noisier.

Power consumption monitoring is nice, but additional hardware is required.

Cons: The cables are thick, and hell to bend them how you want and get them into place, especially in a small case. However, I think this is a worthy trade off.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Unit

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM650 650W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Very clean installation. The modular design is a great improvement over the "standard" cord configuration that comes on non-modular PSU's. This replaced an 850W 80+ standard rating PSU, and it does just fine. I was actually surprised that I could drop 200W and still get the same performance. At $119.00, the price is really reasonable for what you get with this unit. Overall, I am very glad I chose Corsair.

Cons: None so far. I have only had this unit for a few days, so we will see. I am not one to just sit around and "wait" for things to fail. So, don't expect to hear back from me on this.

Other Thoughts: I was up in the air over several different manufacturers. I'm glad I chose Corsair. Their build quality and attention to detail seems to be very visible in the products they deliver.

3 out of 5 eggsDifficult to plugin

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM650 650W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I bought it for the gold rating and the ability to only use the connectors needed.

Cons: Was a nightmare to plugin the cords into the power supply and the motherboard. Still haven't got the 24 pin to snap fully into the motherboard, time to try a different manufacturer.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great so far

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM650 650W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Fully Modular
Active PFC
Fanless if it is idle
54A on the 12V rail
C-Link is supported
Plenty of modular cables with sufficient length

Cons: Only thing i consider bad would be the length of the CPU power modular cable. I was not able to route it through the back of the motherboard in my Rosewill Thor chassis

Other Thoughts: 650W is sufficient for my set up

2 out of 5 eggsCables unmanageable :(

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM650 650W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: The psu itself looks nice.

Cons: These stiff and not very flexible ribbon cables suck, very difficult to work with. I dunno if i got a dud psu but i can not run 2 hard drives on the same rail, pc will not boot and bios wont recognize the second drive. remove power to the second drive and pc boots fine. No problems before psu swap out. I have run another corsair 650w psu with this same pc without issue. I can not use the second sata power cable cause i used it to connect the dvd drive and the rest of the cable wont reach down to the second hard drive. Pc specs: One gtx 55o vid card / inwin dragon case / blu ray burner / 2 hard drives . Psu shouldnt be under powered for my set up.

Other Thoughts: Musta got a bad psu :( ?

2 out of 5 eggsLouder than expected, may RMA

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM650 650W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: -Fully Modular and all black cabling.
-Fanless operation for most scenarios means I can leave it facing up and not worry too much about it still fresh air from my GPU. My PC is on carpet so flipping the unit to draw air from underneath my case isn't an option.
-Nice packaging and the unit looks really good IMO

Cons: -LOUD. Even without the fan running 75% of the time or more, this thing is loud. I have 5 Rosewill Hyperborea fans (2x120 on cpu cooler, 2x140 front intake, and 1x120 rear exhaust) and even at 100% fan speed, I can still hear this PSU.

I'm not sure if this is a faulty unit or not, but it's quite annoying. The noise seems to be a little bit lower in frequency than some of the other coil whine videos I've seen posted about this unit as well, but it's still really loud.

-Flat/Ribbon cabling. Some people may like this but it can make cable management behind the motherboard a real pain. These cables are fairly stiff too so getting them to lay flat enough for the side panel to squeeze on was quite a chore.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to go inside my Corsair 330r for a fairly silent PC build. I wasn't looking for dead silence but I definitely wasn't expecting the PSU to be so audible. It's the first thing I hear when I walk in my room and unless I'm gaming with headphones on, it's the only thing I hear.

It sucks having to RMA something and pay a restocking fee with the risk of the replacement having the same issue too. I took a video of the noise issue and will post it if need be.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Power Supply

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM650 650W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: This is a quiet power supply, that provides stable power and a good number of connectors that can power just about everything you need. Take a few minutes and plan your layout to make the most efficient use of the available connectors and you will not be disappointing.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The bags for the spares are nice

5 out of 5 eggsWhat more can you ask for?

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM650 650W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I did a fair amount of research and I narrowed it down to this product.
1) Modular - Able to remove cables that you don't need. This gives a cleaner install
2) PLUS GOLD Certified - higher power factor, less waste. Saving $$$ on your electricity is always a plus
3) Corsair, good company!

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: I obtained the 650 Watt version.
