5 out of 5 eggsOverall Amazing PSU!

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM850 850W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I'm loving this PSU, it comes with a ridiculous amount of cables to fit nearly any configuration. The cables are also a "ribbon" style which makes cable management must easier than the bulky round ones on PSUs I've used in the past in my opinion. I also think they look a lot better. The Corsair Link idea is also pretty cool too. All of the cables are plenty long enough to route behind the motherboard in my large Corsair C70 case.

Cons: It comes with the Corsair Link cable, but not the "adapter" cable needed to actually to plug it into a USB slot. Seriously? Corsair couldn't include that cable to utilize the feature? The only place I can find the adapter is on Corsair's website. It's only $10 plus shipping but that's still rather annoying for such a pricey PSU. They include more SATA/Molex/GPU power cables than most users will ever need but can't include the other half of the cable needed to utilize their Corsair Link software. I won't take an egg off for this because the PSU does it's job perfectly, but I would certainly consider it a "con" worth mentioning.

I would have also kind of liked at least one of the SATA cables to have one Molex on it to power case fans, but this really isn't a big deal either. I just had to run one more cable than I would have liked.

2 out of 5 eggsFirst One Died after 30 days

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM850 850W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Was quiet and seemed well built

Cons: Died after 30 days.

Other Thoughts: Now i go through the painful RMA process and my CPU is dead for 10 days because they won't ship the replacement the dead one arrives. And newegg says they want the original packaging... who keeps that 30 days after they build a system... keeping a dozen boxes around for that long ? Will update this to reflect the return process and to relate how long the next one lasts...

4 out of 5 eggsso close to perfection

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM850 850W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: great power supply with all black cables, none of those mustard and ketchup wires. also looks sleek in my new build: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/c8VYcf

Cons: Corsair themselves (not Newegg) deliberately do not include the other half of the Corsair Link Cable (http://www.corsair.com/en-us/corsair-link-analog-to-digital-bridge-cable-for-rm-series-psu) to connect the PSU to the MOBO so you can monitor the power usage of your build.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU!

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM850 850W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: This PSU is a beast even with an I7, 3 hdd, 1 ssd, gtx980, water pump, LED's, and case fans! The cooling fan built in to the PSU is meant to only kick on when under full load and not once has even kicked on in 6 months of having it! Along with that, it's fully modular!

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this or any other corsair PSU to anyone!

5 out of 5 eggsgreat psu

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM850 850W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: This is my first Corsair PSU which upgraded from a almost 10 year old 750 watt. Fully modular is excellent I will never buy a semi or a regular style psu again. Quiet and well built. Good price for gold rating and enough power to run 2 970gtx with overclocking headroom. Cables are long enough for large cases and plenty of them to spare.

Cons: Not a fan of the bumblebee look but in my case the psu is hidden from view and I can't see it anyway

5 out of 5 eggsTank of a PSU

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM850 850W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: This PSU is a solid piece of craftsmanship. It's gold rated which is a plus.. runs near silent! Fully modular! Very hefty so you can guess that it is quite well made.... all the product I've purchased from this company have worked and worked well.

Cons: Uhhh it's heavy?

1 out of 5 eggsdisappointing with Corsair product

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM850 850W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: not really

Cons: I received a problematic PSU. My new rig keeps shutting down every time when I start playing games (not really tough game, just CSGO and SC2). Also it cannot finish the 3d mark 11 extreme test, even the first scene. The system just shut down.
I originally thought it was due to my video card (EVGA GTX 970 SSC ACX2.0) defect. So I borrowed a computer from my friends with a similar video card (EVGA GTX 970 FTW). It is a 4970k + z97x-gigabyte gaming while mine is 6700k + rog MVIII ranger. I put my card into his system powered by a EVGA supernova and ran some test. It did heat up the card to 77C but no warning or power off. It ran stable and smooth under load.
Then I put his EVGA GTX 970 FTW into my rig. I found it was powered with a 2*6pin PCI-E power while mine was a 8+6pin PCI-E. It still run smooth and stable under 3d mark 11 extreme test. The highest temp is very similar to mine in his system.
This makes me focusing on my RM850 PSU. I did a 3d mark 11 basic test using my card and my rig. It can hold without shutting down, but it will shut down my computer during extreme test.
Previously I always trust Corsair Products. But based on these test, I am very sure my RM850 may be a problematic one. It may trigger some kind of protection unit improperly when I use 8+6 pin and ran under load. I don't know if I can still return for a refund since I cut out the UPC on box for rebate. But I may have to look for some other brands even I have to lose the money.

Other Thoughts: I may gonna do a final test to confirm this by swapping the PSU of the two computer if possible.

Other Thoughts: Great company. Might be more expensive than other brands but corsairs are worth the money.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty Solid

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM850 850W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: -GOLD Rated
-Good quality
-No problems so far

Cons: None as of yet.

Other Thoughts: This PSU is a pretty good size if you have a 290x/390x series video card and a decent amount of fans/other garbage. However, I would recommend a higher wattage PSU if you plan to run current generation AMD cards in Crossfire, since they are quite power-hungry (275-300W stock). Otherwise, if you're using an Nvidia card, you can get away with something with a lower wattage.
