1 out of 5 eggsLasted 10 Months

This review is from: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 - 850W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Silver Certification and Semi-Modular Cables

Pros: I purchased the Silent Pro M2 620 on January 26 2014. Lasted 10 months.

Cons: Died this past Wednesday. I sent an email to customersupport@coolermaster.com but still haven't heard back.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsRMA rate of DOA 65%

This review is from: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 - 850W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Silver Certification and Semi-Modular Cables

Pros: Sounds great in theoretical specifications

Cons: The product is sold under the coolermaster name in rhetoric. Lists of RMA from this brand all over newegg, the quality of the product has surely diminished in past years.

Other Thoughts: These PSU's should be factory tested and then individually tested by newegg before shipping. Ridiculous rate of DOA! what about the live use failure rate? Designed to fail?

Manufacturer Response:

Good Afternoon Janice,

I apologize your Silent Pro M2 850 Watt is not working correctly as you can apply for an RMA Request through our CM Fanzone along with your New Egg purchase invoice and serial number at the link below. I'm curious where the DOA 65% came from as there is no source for this information.

I look forward to your response.

3 out of 5 eggsDOA part needing RMA

This review is from: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 - 850W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Silver Certification and Semi-Modular Cables

Pros: Nice amount of power supply wattage per buck, semi-modularity makes case installs look cleaner, seems to have an adjustable fan speed for noise control.

Cons: DOA with only a working 5V rail, which made the preliminary diagnostic of the PSU slightly more confusing.

Succeeded in meeting the expectation of at least one DOA; That is not an extremely favorable trait.

Other Thoughts: Nice power supply in concept, but does it work in the real world...

Would recommend getting a warranty on an power supply that hasn't been duty tested, and because his PS cost so much, a warranty is a must because of the possibility of component failure or neighbor damage.

I gave 3 stars for I have currently requested an RMA for cross shipping of the defective part. If all is in working order after the RMA process, I am going to stand by a 4 star rating.

3 out of 5 eggsCables too short

This review is from: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 - 850W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Silver Certification and Semi-Modular Cables

Pros: Quiet, high perfomance

Cons: The non-removable cables (2 x 4pin) are too short to route nicely through my case, so it has to go over my mobo.

5 out of 5 eggsdoes what is supposed to do

This review is from: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 - 850W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Silver Certification and Semi-Modular Cables

Pros: Quiet, and reliable

Cons: ...well, I don't like the color. Kidding, none so far. Its a power supply, either it works as advertised and is golden, or it doesn't and is garbage. Mine works fine.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible RMA process!!

This review is from: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 - 850W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Silver Certification and Semi-Modular Cables

Pros: (Mostly) Modular, good value for the $$, solid build quality, excellent warranty duration

Cons: Hope like heck that you don't have to RMA to them! I've used their products previously and usually have no issues with them. Most items have been rock solid for years.

Unfortunately, a CoolerMaster Silent Pro Hybrid unit that had been in perfect service for years started exhibiting some noise in the fan as if it was grating against the PSU chassis. I sent it back via RMA, and got a replacement unit that differed from the original unit due to end of product line issues with the hybrids. No problem right? Got the "new" Silent Pro M2 850 back in a week or two (was a refurbished unit actually) and it had the exact same problem after a few hours of use when I turned it on the next morning (I swapped in a known good PSU from another build, and it had zero issues, so it is not an issue with the build or environment). Sent it back via RMA, and have had zero luck getting the next one back.

It has been over a month, and they have not sent out the replacement, or given an estimated time to ship or arrive. They haven't replied to emails in several days, and I am basically on hold waiting. Sad to see this from such a reputable company that has been awesome previously.

Other Thoughts: I might still buy their products on a good sale, but will only deal with store returns. I can't bother with the manufacturer RMA process anymore. I cannot have this much downtime on a machine used for business functions

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Sean K,

We apologize for the delay with your RMA and for the trouble you have experienced with our Silent Pro M2 850w. Can you please contact me with your RMA number so that I can get this issue rectified immediately.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat price & Quiet

This review is from: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 - 850W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Silver Certification and Semi-Modular Cables

Pros: Great value of power and efficiency for the price (at least with the rebate).

Quiet just like it says.

Ample Amperage for the pci-e rail.

It just simply works well.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: It'd be cool if it came with mesh shielding for the modular cables too, but you can't win them all.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 - 850W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Silver Certification and Semi-Modular Cables

Pros: High quality. I have bought coolermaster psu's for the past seven years after I bought another branded one and it died. Semi Modular. Nice cables.

Cons: Not fully modular.

Other Thoughts: Great product! love the semi modular, wish it was fully modular!

1 out of 5 eggsWorks but not silent

This review is from: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 - 850W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Silver Certification and Semi-Modular Cables

Pros: The power supply worked fine but the fan was far from silent.

Cons: Noisy fan. The fan would be quiet for a bit but just randomly rev up and down at idle. I thought it was a bad one and had it switched out for another one and it did the same thing.

5 out of 5 eggsGood to Go

This review is from: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 - 850W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Silver Certification and Semi-Modular Cables

Pros: - Modular
- Nice understated looks
- Big Fan
- Quiet

Cons: - Gets pretty hot under load, even on bottom placement; could be my system demands (see below)

Other Thoughts: Gives me the power I need, I'm putting a lot on this; will probably upgrade in the near future.
