4 out of 5 eggsNice Charger

Pros: Quick charging for AA and AAA batteries. It's nice that this one comes with a car adapter so you can recharge on the go. I bought this one to replace another Energizer 15 minute charger that I have had for years but misplaced the power cord.

Cons: The description is not 100% accurate. The charger will recharge only 2 batteries in 15 minutes. To recharge 4 batteries it will take 25-30 minutes. This time frame is OK for me but it would have been nice to have an accurate description as the charger I was replacing actually did recharge all 4 batteries in 15 minutes. That's the reason for the 4 eggs instead of 5.

Other Thoughts: The unit's appearance is different than the photo shown but that's not really a "pro" or "con".

4 out of 5 eggsSeriously fast, but cell cycle life won't be as long, though...

Pros: Several years ago, you might wonder if someone tried to overclock...a battery charger. Energizer did it with this unit.

It's pretty amazing how far battery technology has come; this is one of those tools that proves it. "15 minutes" is not a marketing lie, because the charger pumps so much current into the batteries that once the cycle's done, they're about as full as the usual overnight charger regime. And plus, this one charges _any_ AA or AAA nickel metal hydride battery, and anywhere between 1 and 4 (unlike those that can only do 2 or 4). I don't mind the cooling fan, but some people may find it a distraction, though. Finally, the supplied wall transformer is surprisingly small and lightweight (about the size of a regular PC mouse), because it's a high-current switching power supply, not one of those old, heavy iron-core clunkers.

Cons: This unit seems to degrade NiMH batteries significantly faster than the typical 2-hour (or overnight) charger, to the point where the flashing "bad cell" red LED comes on after maybe two dozen or so charges. The claimed 500 cycles for most NiMH cells will likely not stand anymore (in terms of the charger's finickiness for good cells) after being used on this unit. This is simply because of the immense current being thrust into the cells, which causes a large amount of heat to be released. Heat, as you know, is the enemy of a lot of electronic components; rechargeables are no exception. The fan definitely helps, but I'm sure that if Energizer tried to put a more powerful one on it, the noise level may become unbearable for some.

Other Thoughts: A tip for people who want to extend battery life a little more: don't take the batteries out as soon as the green light comes on. Instead, let the charger run all the way until the fan stops. Although the actual charging portion is indeed 15 minutes, the cooling cycle extends that about 3-5 minutes longer. This ensures that the cells are decently cool enough to be used in high-drain devices immediately afterwards (which can once again heat them up).

Also, if you keep getting the "bad cell" flashing red indicator, what you may want to do is cycle the suspect cells through an overnight charger, use them in some device(s) the next day, and then recharge them in the 15-minute charger once fully drained. Sometimes, though, that method may not work either, since the finicky nature of this unit will only let relatively healthy cells take a charge.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive

Pros: It really does charge batteries in around 15 minutes, it takes depending on the batteries charge (900mah AAA takes 1less than 15min). It has little extractor under the batteries so it doesn't get too hot.

Cons: None so far

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Charger

Pros: Excellent NiMH charger that does exactly what it is supposed to. Comes with 2200mah batteries which charge in almost exactly 15 minutes. I've bought 3 or 4 sets of the energizer 2500mah AA 8-packs and it charges four of those in around 17-18 min. I can fill a 1gb SD card over a long weekend in my Canon A610 before the batteries need changing.

Cons: Cooling system works adequately. I put a couple pencils under the charger when charging multiple 4-packs of batteries back to back to keep the temp down.

Other Thoughts: I would have liked charge indicator lights for each individual cell instead of one main light for the charger.

5 out of 5 eggsGood product

Pros: FAST CHARGING its just one great solid product and theres no doubt about it that i will defintily buy energizer rechargables again if i ever needed.

Cons: Alittle loud when charging REALLY fast. and the batterys doesn't always stay charged when they are in the charger. but not really anything to worry about. just give them a quick charge before you use them.

Other Thoughts: Batteries are being used on a Sony digital camera.
