5 out of 5 eggsAwesome... and yet...

Pros: Shocked... I actually ran out of things to plug into this hub... I felt shocked!!!!!

Cons: Like most have already noted, the hub will NOT charge everything you plug into it... it simply can't handle it. However, I was able to power the following before power drain problems: 4x ipod shuffles, 2x ipod nanos, 1x kindle(original), 2x fitbit devices, 1x Galaxy S4 phone, 1x usb camera, 1x digital camera, 1x micro refrigerator, 1x Sunpak(72 in 1 card reader)... then when I went to plug in my vapor ecig... poof... blinky lights indicated it was just too much... What needs to be remembered here though is that if you were to plug all of these devices into a power strip you would soon run out of power strip ports... even if you then doubled up with two strips from the same outlet... you would still not be able to plug all of these device in... IMHO knowing nothing of electrical work within houses I would have to say that not even the outlet can handle THAT many devices at once. It's sad and disappointing but I will NOT remove an egg for this because it just makes too much sense that it isn't (to my knowledge) possible. The only thing I would say is lacking is the ability to at least have the connection, even if it's not powered.

Other Thoughts: One thing I've started to consider with this device is that if I don't readily need access to the memory on something, I don't use the hub. A perfect example is the micro-fridge. I don't need to access information on it, it can be powered directly from the motherboard, ergo, I don't use the hub.
All in all WORTH the $. I recently purchased a different usb hub that was unable to connect to the computer at all... this one is awesome!!!

4 out of 5 eggsGood hub lacks power

Pros: An amazing amount of ports (28) that support USB 2.0 and 3.0 and every one of them can be switched on and off. magnetic feet allow you to stick the ports right to the side of your case providing you have a Steelcase.

Cons: Not enough power the four amp power supply provided cannot supply anywhere near enough power for all those ports and so a lot of those ports just do not get used. Even if you try patching and a higher amperage supplied say from a computer power supply such as I did. The hub internally limits the total power to the ports with your average USB device consuming between .5 and 1 amp do the math and you see a need it least 6 to 7 times the amount of amperage than they provide.

Other Thoughts: I wish they would have provided a schematic somewhere so that those who are electronically inclined can redo the power supplies and power factor controllers inside the device. Or better yet just give us a device with at least 15 A capacity. Just running the six Saitek LCD instruments consumes 9 A as they are rated at 1.5 each.

1 out of 5 eggsimmediate failure

Pros: I'm keeping the magnets (which, as others have noted popped off within seconds).

Cons: Failed within 2 hours of installation. I plugged this into a USB 3.0 port on my Gigabyte X58A-UD7 motherboard and plugged in (2) 1 TB USB 3.0 western digital external drives and (2) 1 TB USB 3.0 Seagate external drives. Prior to installing this hub, each of these drives mounted fine on the native USB 3.0 ports on my mobo, but I got this hub so I could have all 4 drives mounted simultaneously, since there are only (2) 3.0 ports on my mobo. Within 2 hours of install, none of the drives mounted on the USB 3.0 ports of the hub, although they did mount on the USB 2.0 ports, and when I removed the hub and rebooted, the 2 western digital drives wouldn't even mount on my mobo's native USB 3.0 ports. So it seems not only did the hub fail but it damaged my native USB 3.0 port.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: Love it. Replaced 3 hubs and wall warts with one. Low profile for the back of my desk. I usually don't reviews stuff so take it from me, this is nice to have. The buttons are great also.

Cons: They have magnets on the bottom that came off while unboxing. I don't wont magnets around my stuff anyway so took them all off and plan to replace with small round foam pads. Not a con for me to have them off.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well, could use some improvments

Pros: alot of ports... has a separate power source. blues led lights are nice and not bright enough to be annoying with the room lights off. speed is decent with the 3.0 ports. having the ports in different directions has worked out well.
tested the 3.0 ports with 4 3.0 external drives and ran atto on all of them at the same time to see how it would handle it and it did very well.

Cons: the magnetic mounts on the back all came off, when the first one came off when i was moving it, i went by the other magnet to try and put it back and it pulled the other one right off. the glue they use wasnt strong enough or not enough of it. one of the magnets i stuck to my case and when i tried to remove it, it broke in half. so i threw them all away.

i had a issue at first where one of the usb 3.0 ports the button wouldnt click/stay down, i had to work with it and mash on it quite a bit, and after repeated forceful mashings, it hasnt had a issue after that.

the blue led is nice but the numbers and the lights are kinda off/smaller than the numbers... so i can read it, its just odd that they would have the lights and all and only light up just over half the number... but no big deal really

the usb 2.0 ports i thought would use the total bandwidth of the usb 3.0 spread across multiple drives, but with my testing of 10 usb 2.0 externals running atto all at the same time, i didnt see what i thought i would see. i tried many different port combinations, seeing it shows up as 5 hubs. but that isnt much of a con more than not meeting my expectation with the logic i thought.

Other Thoughts: all in all i would buy this again... i got this one after reading all the usb 3.0 hub reviews and it seemed that alot of people were having issues with multiple 3.0 external hard drives at one time, or the whole unit just failing completely. so i tried this. and it works, but just watch out when you hook up 28 usb drives and run outta drive letters in windows lol

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Value

Pros: ample power for all the ports. 4x usb3 ports (important if you're chaining more than one together). Toggle buttons for powering each port - that means you can charge things even without a computer attached, or simply control which ports get power.

Cons: It's a bit small, I would have liked it to be about 30% larger.
It's very light, which means you have to be careful when moveing wires around.
Magnets on the bottom are useless, it won't even stick to a sheet of metal- Also they just fel out when I shook it.

Other Thoughts: All in All a solid piece of hardware.

5 out of 5 eggsA thing of beauty!

Pros: 1. Has a propensity of ports

2. The on/off switches are absolutely awesome - it sort of doubles as a storage rack for all my USB memory sticks. I just turn of the ones I'm not using.

3. Nice blue LED's tell you which ports are on.

4. Ports on three sides! I mounted it on the side of my hutch, and I can stick plugs in from every angle. Glorious!

Cons: 1. There are no wall mounting notches. They probably should have put those weird + shaped holes like on the back of a plug strip.

2. It comes with magnetic mounts. I guess that would be OK, but, the first time I stuck it on something, all the magnets peeled off the hub and stayed on the metal. Needs weaker magnets (or stronger glue). I just drilled holes through it and used drywall screws. That seems to hold well enough. (I guess I can't return it anymore).

3. Again with the glue: the little number stickers for the ports want to peel off. Oh well, I don't use the numbers anyway...

Other Thoughts: I think it must try to operate in un-powered mode from the host port. If I connect the hub to my computer and the 5V power supply, but do not plug in the 5V PS, the LED on the PS still lights up. Weird.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Hub

Pros: Great hub, unlike a lot of other hubs this one does not backfeed to the connection source (ran into this with a 10 port it went back).
Nice heavy usb connection cable, long enough, the power supply is designed so that it does not cover the adjacent plug if installed into a UPS. The buttons are a nice feature to turn thing off and on. Using it for my gaming devices (simpit)

Cons: None
