4 out of 5 eggspowerfull CPU & power hungry CPU

Pros: Good value, Cheaper than i5 or i7 equivalent. The world needs competition for in the CPU market. Linux runs really fast on it. Compiles kernel and all 3000 modules in 15min. Good CPU architecture from what I have read.

Cons: Power dissipation. Quiescent power with MB & HDD = 94W. Equivalent i5 is about 72W. CPU stays cool with the diamond heatsink paste. Stock fan is a little noisy and the CPU is not under waranty without stock fan. No overclock boost like Intel boasts about. Price dropped $20 a couple of days after I bought it.

Other Thoughts: AMD needs to look at more ways to reduce CPU & MB chipset power consumption.

5 out of 5 eggsLinux + AMD = Awesome

Pros: This thing has performed great for my MythTV/Home Server box. I can be watching a show, recording a show, and hosting serveral web sites without issues.

Cons: The cool'n'quiet technology took a bit of time to set up right. At first, I had to disable it in the BIOS, but after some tinkering with the configurations, I got it working.

Other Thoughts: I bought this in a bundle and have been very pleased with the mobo and video card.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome-no freeze

Pros: The whole system is performing flawlessly. fast

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Motherboards should have simple cheap pre installed OS on them so it would be simpler to get an OS. Linux maybe?
