  • newegg New Piledriver microarchitecture Piledriver microarchitecture is the second generation of AMD Bulldozer microarchitecture. The internal core structure has been modified for higher frequencies even without any changes in the manufacturing process. Piledriver has a more precise branch predictor and a larger instruction window with ISA extensions FMA3 and F16C. The execution units acquired an enhanced scheduler and learned to process individual instructions faster, such as integer and floating-point division. And Piledriver microarchitecture delivers higher power efficiency compared with Bulldozer microarchitecture.
  • newegg Unlocked AMD FX processor with 8 Piledriver cores The native 8-core desktop processor delivers unrivaled multitasking and pure core performance with the new Piledriver microarchitecture. 32 nanometer die shrink was designed to reduce leakage for improved efficiency, increased clock rate headroom and better thermals. The AMD unlocked technology offers more headroom for your overclocking (AMD’s product warranty does not cover damage caused by overclocking even when overclocking is enabled via AMD Overdrive software.).
  • newegg AMD Turbo technology The AMD FX Processors come equipped with AMD Turbo CORE Technology, a performance boosting technology that helps increase performance on the applications that need it the most.
  • newegg Amazing instruction capabilities Like Bulldozer, Piledriver has some amazing instruction capabilities. Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) increase parallelism tailored for scientific and 3D applications that use heavy floating point calculations. Floating Point Vector Multiply-Accumulate improves throughput and performance on many vector functions (integer and floating point). Advanced Encryption Standard noticeably increases performance on the latest encryption applications like TrueCrypt and benchmarks like PCMark.
  • newegg AMD Hypertransport technology HyperTransport Technology (HT or HTT) is a high-speed, low latency, point-to-point link which helps reduce the number of buses in a system thus reducing system bottlenecks and enabling today's faster microprocessors to use system memory more efficiently in high-end multiprocessor systems.
  • newegg Integrated DRAM Controller with AMD Memory Optimizer Technology AMD FX Vishera Processor features a high-bandwidth, low-latency integrated memory controller that supports faster and low voltage memories and provides new Pre-Fetcher improvements and direct communications to each core in Dual-Core module (APIC registers in each core).

5 out of 5 eggsFX 8320

Pros: My chip was easy to overclock and I got a decent one out of this chip.
Rock solid running at 4.3 ghz being cooled by an H100i.
Price to performance.

Cons: Runs warm (I already knew this)
Stock cooler that is shipped with it is meant for the 6 core series (Again already knew this.)

Other Thoughts: I highly recommend buying some aftermarket cooling for this CPU as the one that comes in the box is not meant to cool this CPU.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: I love this cpu. I love how it will change it's operating frequency to match what I'm doing, like say, writing a paper it'll be running at 1.5ghz, or with gaming it'll go up to 3.5ghz. It performs as I had hoped and expected, very solid for the money. Doesn't get too hot on me, about 65 C under load. Not a single problem with it at all.

Cons: Nothing, other than I wish the stock cooler was better, but that's pretty much all AMD CPUs anyway.

Other Thoughts: If it's in your budget, and you're thinking about getting one, I'd go ahead and get one.

5 out of 5 eggsamd lx8320

Pros: ‎Friday, ‎February ‎27, ‎2015: AMD 8320 processor
I am using this processor in an ASUS M5A 99 FX motherboard. Under a normal load for me, I'm using speech recognition, Windows media player, two security cameras, WordPad, & a few other applications, my CPU temperature runs at about 39°C to 42°C. If I put a heavier strain on the CPU such as playing games, the temperature rises to 55°C. The fan speed goes from around 2100 rpm to 5200 rpm. The frequency is at my normal use generally ranges from around 1800 MHz to 4100 MHz. I'm also using 16 GB of RAM (G. Skill). Under the aforementioned conditions, this processor has performed admirably.

Cons: Their website could use some improving. For instance if they are offering a rebate, it should be easy to find on their website. Also they could make it easy to find the specifications on any specific product.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat prefomance

Pros: has 8 cores witch i can use when video editing can edit 4k in premier and have cut my render times in half vs an old i5

Cons: can be hard to cool mine runs around 45c under full load with a hyper 212evo cooler

Other Thoughts: can run the few games i play on it on ultra high.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing!

Pros: Great budget CPU! Actually no! just change the multiplier from 17 to 21 and becomes 8350 which beats any i5 at the price. I use this for Matlab simulations with Parallel Computing toolbox and Matlab loves it very much! No need for 8350! I got this for $129 on sale! :D

With a bit of tuning stands against i7 and is $130 cheaper.
For power Ok your intel is 77 or 85 watt but do the math:
How long does it take to recover your $130 with say 50 Watt saving!
Do you keep any CPU that long????

Cons: NA DA

2 out of 5 eggsSuper Loud Heat Sink Fan

Pros: Fast CPU easy installation

Cons: Standard Heat Sink is the loudest I've ever heard and has made me regret buying this from newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfection

Pros: Works amazing. Can handle a lot. Overclocking works well, but you will need a different CPU cooling system than the one that came with the CPU.

Cons: Could ship with a better CPU fan. The power of the CPU needs slightly more cooling power to be used to the max.

1 out of 5 eggsToo hot

Pros: It's a pretty beefy CPU for the price.

Cons: It's hot. Really hot.

Other Thoughts: The stock cooler this thing comes with can't keep it cool. It just can't. I'm not a hardcore gamer or anything. I don 't overclock. The stock cooler should be able to keep this thing cool. If it can't it shouldn't come with it. I realize that it might be unfair to knock four eggs off just for that but I am pretty outraged. At first I thought something must have gone wrong when I installed it so I bought some new thermal paste and redid that whole thing. No difference. I'm just going to cough up the extra money for Intel next time.

5 out of 5 eggsPowerhouse CPU

Pros: Very powerful processor! Clocks up to 4.0 GHz with no voltage increase, or can run at stock speed with voltage decrease, nice and stable.

Cons: Can run hot very quickly under load, especially when overclocking. Clocked up to 4.4 GHz but performance gain seemed negligible. It can overclock considerably higher, but probably not with air cooling. Stock cooler that comes with it looks rather puny, I didn't even try using it.

Other Thoughts: If you plan to overclock, should probably go with a liquid cooling solution. Temps get too high once you start raising voltage, even with very large heatsink/fan.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU for the money

Pros: - Great for overclocking
- Great CPU for the price
- Great for heating my man-cave in the winter

Cons: - Slower compared to intel in single threaded tasks
- AM3+ only supports pcie 2.0
- Heatsink isn't great for overclocking
- Requires a lot of power

Other Thoughts: I'm on my second 8320. I bought a new motherboard and broke off a pin on my first one trying to get the heatsink off (broken heatgun [hair dryer] and impatience resulted in terrible consequences).

This cpu was running well with an overclock of 4.4Ghz. Could go higher, but 4.4 was sufficient. Runs pretty hot with stock heatsink, but runs pretty cool with third party water cooler.
