With the Wolfdale core, Intel pours more power into the Core 2 Duo package. The 45nm process allows Intel to reduce the power down to 65W. Lower power means less CPU heat, which translates to lower system heat and longer life. They also packed more features into the chip.
The L2 cache has been bumped to 3MB and the Front Side Bus has been pushed to 1066MHz. You can now use both DDR2 and the hot new DDR3 memory for extreme performance. They also boosted memory access and execution speed with the Wide Dynamic Execution and Smart Memory Access. These technologies work together to let the processor compute more instructions with more data per clock cycle. You'd better watch out -- your enemies will be shooting back faster now!
The Advanced Digital Media Boost feature has been enhanced with the addition of the SSE4 instruction set and Intel HD Boost, to give your entertainment experience better audio and video processing. It will also help with speech recognition, engineering and scientific applications. Most important of all is the security boost with increased speed and encryption power.
Specialized Dual-core Microarchitecture The Intel Core 2 Duo processor includes dual execution cores in a single processor to enable execution of parallel threads or applications simultaneously, resulting in revolutionary dual-core performance, breakthrough energy efficiency and exceptional system response time when running multi-threaded applications, or multiple demanding applications. The innovative 45nm fabrication technology optimizes thermal performance for reduced power consumption and noise.
Intel Advanced Smart Cache Intel Advanced Smart Cache Technology dynamically allocates the shared L2 cache to each processor core based on workload. This efficient, multi-core-optimized implementation increases the probability that each core can access data from the fast L2 cache, resulting in significantly reduced latency for frequently used data and overall improved performance.
Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T) Intel EM64T provides an enhancement to Intel 32-bit architecture by enabling the mobile processor platform to access larger amounts of memory. With appropriate 64-bit hardware and software, platforms based on an Intel processor supporting Intel EM64T can enable use of extended virtual and physical memory.
Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST) EIST allows the system to dynamically adjust processor voltage and core frequency to decrease the average power consumption and heat production. Combined with existing power saving features, EIST provides an excellent balance between supplying power when you need it and conserving power when you don’t.
Execute Disable Bit (EDB) Intel's Execute Disable Bit function can prevent certain classes of malicious "buffer overflow" attacks when combined with a supporting operating system. Execute Disable Bit allows the processor to classify areas of the memory where application code can execute and where it cannot. When a malicious worm attempts to insert code into the buffer, the processor disables code execution, preventing damage or worm propagation.
Pros: I purchased this processor for the soul intention of running a debian server at home. The performance is great considering the low price!
Cons: None

Rating: 5/5Good chip, Good Price
Pros: Work horse of a chip. Great out of the box speed, low power consumption, low heat generation, and plenty of performance for the money.
Cons: Stock cooler
Other Thoughts: I always pair any processor with a heat pipe cooler. They're cheap, far better, and make less noice (since the fan tends to run slower).

Pros: This CPU has some respectable speed. My old CPU fan for my prior CPU broke so I ended up using the stock fan, with some ARCTIC COOLING MX-2 Thermal Compound (which I got free from something I bought, I forget what). I'm pleasantly surprised the stock fan gets about 32 C, idle, whereas my system (motherboard) is at 37 C, idle. Full load, CPU at about 37 C, and system temp goes to 41 C. Room temperature is currently about 23 degrees C. Mind you I do have 4 external 80mm fans (one is the power supply), and 2 internal 80mm fans blowing from the bottom front towards the bottom back of the case.
Cons: It isn't faster or an i5/i7
Other Thoughts: The CPU fan was extremely easy to put on. I've worked with many CPU fans, and some of them make you think the motherboard is going to break. This one was extremely easy to put on. It only took maybe 1 minute tops. The EASIEST one I've used for a socket 775 MB was XIGMATEK EP-CD901 92mm Sleeve CPU Cooler, Item#:N82E16835233022, which only took like 30 seconds, no joke. For those people complaining it was hard to put on this stock CPU fan, I wonder what you guys are doing wrong.

Pros: With the right MOBO, ASUS P5Q Pro Turbo, you can easily overclock this processor to 4GHz. Best bang for the buck that Intel produces.
Cons: The fan that comes with this should also come with an advanced degree in mechanical engineering (like capping the well in the Gulf it can be done but man it's ugly) and it doesn't cool well enough to allow for overclocking. Don't waste your time just spend the extra 40 clams and do it right the first time.
Other Thoughts: I am going to purchase this soon. I have a E7300, 2.66 GHz, this processors little brother, that I have whipped hard for going on three years now I currently have it on a Asus P5KPL-CM running at 3.42 GHz. I can easily see this CPU, the E7500, running at 4 GHz.

Pros: The processor seemed to work well. Installed just fine out of the box.
Cons: The description for this product, that I can remember, didn't say anything about a fan came with the chip. I purchased a fan.

Pros: - Low cost - OC somewhat (3.2+ air)
Cons: it's not an i5/i7?
Other Thoughts: This is a great CPU for anyone that is not doing anything crazy. This CPU with some over clocking will do anything any avg person would want to do. Buy it

Rating: 5/5Awesome Processor for the Price!
Pros: This processor is great! I bought two of these and both of them arrived in perfect condition. It handles everything nicely with no lag. My games run great, and even Adobe Photoshop runs much more smoothly. It's a great budget processor for your money.
Cons: The stock fan that came with this processor is hard to install in my motherboard which uses screws in order to mount the fan.
