Crush your enemies, climb the tower of paperwork, or do both at the same time. Intel's Core i7 processor not only makes it possible, it makes it easy. The Core i7 920 has quad cores that run at 2.66GHz and shares 8MB of L3 cache.

Quad cores means true multi-tasking and multi-threading. One core handles the usual action on your operating system, while the second can play a DVD on the TV, the third download a file from internet, and the fourth one sends audio to the kids in another room without lags or stutters. All this is made easier with Intel’s advanced Digital Media Boost.

With Intel Turbo Boost technology and Intel Hyper-Threading technology, The Core i7 enables highly threaded applications or demanding applications to work in maximum speed without need the slightest effort. The 45nm Intel Core i7 processor is armed Intel HD Boost, which implementing new Intel Streaming SIMD Extension 4.1 (Intel SSE4.1) instructions for fast high definition video editing and encoding, enhance the multimedia performance.

5 out of 5 eggsBest CPU I Have Ever Owned.

Pros: - Great price/performance ratio
- Completely changed the CPU landscape

Cons: - None whatsoever

Other Thoughts: As the title says, this is simply the best CPU I have ever owned. I haven't upgraded my mobo (ASUS P6T Deluxe) or CPU since I bought them in early 2009. I am starting to put a new computer together now, and this has made me think back on how reliable this CPU has been. It's still going strong, but after 7 years, I think it's time to move on.

5 out of 5 eggsStill powering through...

Pros: Its been exactly 7 years since this was delivered to my door and it has never backed down from whatever I do to it.
I received the "C0" version of this processor and had a rough time correctly overclocking it verses the"D0" version. After a lot of time tinkering with this quad 2.6Ghz I run it stable year round at 3.8Ghz, improving cpu cooling as I went up (currently using Corsair 110i GT). I've kept the same CPU, MB, RAM, and Power Supply since original build. Over time replaced CPU coolers, HDDs to SSDs, Graphics cards AND the computer case itself but not the core components.

Cons: Its getting old and used replacement parts to support this CPU's needs are not going to get any cheaper, if they fail.

Other Thoughts: With Skylake out upgrading is always in my mind. I would love to have SATA3, USB3, M.2, and other things to be more up to date. I know even with how well this 920 Bloomfield running, a new Skylake CPU would be faster, hard to justify the $700ish to update for what I'm currently have now.

5 out of 5 eggsStill Running

Pros: Still running 6 years later.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Had some heating issues but reapplied paste over a year ago and no problems since.
Am about to finally replace this part of my PC and the Mobo because 1366 and thought it deserved a goodbye.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: Great product. It still works like a beast 6+ years later. I just added a liquid cooled cpu cooler. I should be able to OC this baby to 3.5ghz, but we shall see.

Cons: LGA 1366 makes it nearly impossible to find a new mobo. That's the only negative.

Other Thoughts: Really solid product.

5 out of 5 eggsOld Faithful

Pros: Bought this thing in August of 2009 and it still runs like a champ. Doesn't even break a sweat no matter what I throw at it, and I've never overclocked it. I suspect it will last me quite a while longer.

Cons: They sure got rid of this socket quick, so one day when I do finally upgrade I'll have to get a new mobo as well. But by then there will be plenty of other reasons I need a new mobo anyway.

5 out of 5 eggsThe old workhorse.

Pros: I have never used a processor for so long, or with as much satisfaction. It has outlived everything in my life.

When one application of Arctic Silver got crusty, it dutifully notified me by shutting down, only to return as fresh as the day I unboxed it, when I cleaned off the blackened soot and replaced it with a fresh splat.

This processor has loved me longer than any woman.

My father is dead, but the processor he bought me carries on.

Cons: Reminds us of the brick wall the industry hit in terms of processing power.

Other Thoughts: I'm going to OC this thing to a minimum of 3.5ghz for FFXIV: Heavensward, in a caseless setup, using a Zalman copper-finned heatsink so large I could never fit it in any case.

How long can the 920 really last? I aim to find out.

5 out of 5 eggsStill no plans to upgrade!

Pros: I bought this bad boy in late 2009. It is still competitive with processors released today. Paired with triple-channel memory and a 10K Velociraptor, I've never had to upgrade anything other than the video card.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggs6 years later...

Pros: This chip is still on par with the new ones, yes you can get another 20% CPU power with a new model, but this CPU combined with one or 2 of the new GTX 900 series graphics cards, will keep it in the game for quite some time!

Cons: no cons at all

Other Thoughts: A conservative overclock to 3500MHZ with a voltage set at 1.15v, runs nice and cool, and can run any game I have at 60fps easy.

5 out of 5 eggsFarewell sweet prince

Pros: Everyone knows what a I7 920 with D0 stepping can do.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Just now replaced it with a Xeon W3690.

5 out of 5 eggs2008 and counting

Pros: I got this when I was just out of high school. It has dominated nonstop since then. Incredibly impressive and resilient processor. Building a new comp this week, and wanted to give this beauty a proper sendoff!

Cons: In the near decade I've spent with this processor, I can't name a single issue.
