5 out of 5 eggsGood Enclosure, Solid Design

Pros: My grandfather taught me that there's a difference between "Cheap" and "Inexpensive". This enclosure is inexpensive.

The screwless design snaps solidly into place; you won't be fearing that the drive is going to fall out randomly.

The activity light is pretty cool too. All the Orico enclosures I own have lights that blend red and blue, varying by activity, but it looks coolest on this model - especially since the light is on the face of the drive instead of the side like the 2588's.

It came with a decent USB cable too.

Cons: - None. Wow.

Other Thoughts: EASY YOUR PC! lol... That slogan cracks me up every time I see it on the side of the enclosure. The only thing they skimped on was a translator. I didn't read the manuals to see if they suffer from the same problem - the enclosure's so simple you won't need them.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy

Pros: Inexpensive and easy to insert drive. I'm only out $10.

Cons: Didn't work the second time I tried to use it. I tried it on 3 different computers in USB3 and USB2 slots and it doesn't work. The drive works fine when connected to internal SATA connections without the ORICO enclosure.

5 out of 5 eggsWork Well

Pros: Good fit. I inserted a Crucial 500GB SSD and it fit fine. The USB 3.0 connection is good; not cheap and flimsy like other brands. The USB3.0 cable is only a foot long but I prefer that over a 3 foot long cable.

Cons: Seems to get a bit warmer than I'd like. I would like it to dissipate heat a little better with maybe an integrated heat sink fins and/or some ventilation.

Other Thoughts: Great enclosure for the money. Well built and performs well. Not much more to ask

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome accessory for SSD upgrades.

Pros: Perfect for SSD upgrades on laptops. Original HDD is installed in this enclosure and acts as an easily accessible backup for file retrieval. Very inexpensive and additional 2.5" drives can be swapped out very quickly with this no tool design. Lightweight design is sturdy enough for its intended purpose since it is designed to hold delicate HDDs.

Cons: None of which I am aware.

Other Thoughts: I own a total of three Orico 2.5" enclosures now and am very happy with them all.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Product

Pros: I couldn't believe it, this product is so much cheaper than almost any case, much less any USB 3.0 case, and it works great.

At first, it seems like it is made out of some cheap material, but it actually holds together very well. My first worry was that it wouldn't dissipate heat well, but the hard drive seems to stay cool, and I use a 1.5TB with a lot of data on it.

It seems just as sturdy as my aluminium one.

Cons: It is made out of a polymer or something like that. Not a high quality material, but this isn't a high priced product. But it does the job well.

5 out of 5 eggsI like it

Pros: Works great, fast

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Great unit for the money. It's fast, stable, works every time I need it. It's plastic, but feels sturdy and smooth. I may buy another, it's great to throw old SSDs or SATA laptop drives into. They slide right in without trouble.

4 out of 5 eggsEasy and convenient

Pros: Easy to use, attractive, robust

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This USB 3.0 external enclosure is among the better ones I have used. The absolute easiest one I've used had a hinged piece on the end, so if you consider needing to slide the cover all the way off and sliding it on for the entire length of the case to be a negative, that's about as bad as the criticism gets. The instructions aren't written in the best English, but I'd be surprised if anybody needs instructions at all to use this.

The case does not at all look cheaply made and I was surprised at how nice the appearance was. On the outside there's a tiny blue LED that has a purplish flicker when active, and a standard connector for the included USB 3.0 cable. The throughput is as fast as I get from the drive when connected internally.

It's an unpowered enclosure, which shouldn't be a problem for a USB 3.0 port.

This is designed for 9.5 mm drives, and will fit a 7mm drive just fine. It has a stick-on piece of foam padding that will hold either in place. It's not designed for a 12.5 mm drive, and those aren't very common anyway. But I did try it with one and it works fine as long as you leave the cover off. So if you have a bunch of extra drives around, you could use it that way too.

Note: A sample was provided to me but no review was promised in exchange.
