Using it as a time machine backup. I wanted a USB powered backup drive with double the capacity of the internal HDD (as recommended). The matching aluminum case and compact size made this a good choice for the iMac. My wife's iMac only supports USB 2.0, and I was concerned about performance, but a thunderbolt or firewire drive was a lot more $ and not justifiable. After installing and formatting, the initial time machine backup ran much faster than expected. There have been numerous incremental backups since then, all done without problems or any intervention at all. Just like an infomercial for a roaster oven, "set it and forget it"! Only time will tell about the reliability but, so far it has worked flawlessly and I would highly recommend. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful. Did you? Other Thoughts: I purchased the 2TB drive for my wife's iMac-1TB HDD in March, 2014. Using it as a time machine backup.
