Pros: - Face recognition works very well for people after seven to ten days
- Local video recording
- No monthly fees
- Geofencing does work - for one person
- Unobtrusive, but also attractive
- Reasonably robust construction - but don't bang it around

Cons: - Need geofencing for at least two people - you and your cohabitating partner or roommate(s)
- No IFTTT target - can't have WeMo or Homeboy motion trigger Welcome video recording through IFTTT
- No cloud video storage to DropBox or anywhere else - but Netatmo says this is coming in Q2 2016 as a firmware update
- Doesn't recognize canine faces
- Buy new only - my Welcome was damaged from another vendor's Warehouse Deals (antenna cap was off and antenna bent), didn't work and had to be returned
- No onboard battery backup
- No compatibility with unified monitoring app

Other Thoughts: I use Welcome indoors with Kuna and Homeboy cameras outdoors plus Belkin WeMo wall switches and Philips Hue bulbs, each with their own app. A central home security app to manage all of them would be great. I really don't have time to code this myself.

Netatmo is missing a good bet with pet owners - the Welcome needs to recognize the canine members of your family too.

You can trigger other actions through IFTTT when Welcome detects motion (turn on WeMo or Hue lights, for example), but you can't use other sensors to trigger Welcome.

For stand-alone use, though, Welcome is a good security camera.

Pros: This is my first Internet camera and it was really easy to set up. After taking it out of the box, I read the instructions, went to the website as instructed and had the camera up and running in 15 minutes, connected to our network and set up on my desktop and two androids. I am very impressed so far. I was receiving alerts very quickly via email asking for facial recognition. After confirming the identity of my family it quit sending alerts and told me everyone was home.

Cons: No cons so far.

Other Thoughts: You have to hook it up to your computer to get it set up. After that be sure to set it up pointing toward the door of the house you use most. As I was setting it up (hooked up to my computer) it was pointed toward the TV and started sending me alerts to identify the cast of "Scorpion". funny stuff. It is now sitting on a desk looking at the back door where the family goes in and out.
I just love how this camera looks. It is awesome. I doubt that anyone that had never seen this before would realize it is a camera.
My parents saw our Netatmo welcome and just had to have one. We are Windows/Android, they are Mac/iphone. Both set-ups went well.
Just want to clarify about the facial recognition, after the camera recognizes a face, there is a drop down menu that gives you the option to put a name to the face you want it to remember.
The playback video is clear, it records sound as well as video. Really an awesome camera. I am a technology junkie and this camera will satisfy me for quiet a while.
