5 out of 5 eggsSweet and fast!

Pros: This is a USB 3 stick. It is fast as can be. It has adequate memory to do multiple system backups for most folks. I purchased it to transfer rebuild one of the company servers. I formatted it for Linux and used it as a super fast hard disk. It is very well build (it is my second such unit and the other has traveled around the world with me multiple times).

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: There is a very small catch ... the physical size of the case is not super small, so on those crowded motherboard multiple USB connectors, it may require unplugging another device to fit. For the front of a machine, it is great. It is also easy to hang on to, so fumbling is not a problem.

1 out of 5 eggsDissapointed

Pros: Is a 128gb USB thumb drive.

Cons: A bit bigger than I expected. Is surprisingly no faster than my USB 2.0 thumb drive in transferring files from my SSD drive in a USB 3.0 port.

Manufacturer Response:

We apologize for the issue you are having. In order to better assist you, please call our Support Staff at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) and one of our Technical Support Representatives will assist you with the problem and authorize replacement should you need one. 2 out of 5 eggsFlakey

Pros: Very fast. Copying a solid file such as a DMG I see speeds above 150MB/s!

Cons: Flakey. I use Macs and PCs and have to frequently transfer files back and forth between both OSs. Repeatedly I've had to format the drive after connecting the device back and forth a few times because the partition just stops mounting. Nothing I can do repairs the partition. I've tried exFat, NTFS, FAT32. The format doesn't seem to make a wiff of difference, leading me to believe this isn't a software issue.

Other Thoughts: I own three of the 64GB models and they ALL do it. I believe this is some fundamental issue with the drive controller and how it switches between USB 2 and 3 modes because the Macs don't have USB3. I was able to repeat the issue by switching back and forth between USB 2 and 3 on one of my PCs as well. Regardless, I'm just going to deal with it because they are SOOOO fast I'm will to put up with it.

2 out of 5 eggsSecond dud?

Pros: Says its real fast on the box.

Cons: Alright, this is my second questionable one of these drives from Newegg. Running ATTO Disk Benchmark using the default formatting on two different systems yields 43-82MB/s Max write and 159-206MB Max read. Real world transfer of a few hundred ~8MB raw photos from an Intel 510 series SSD yielded 46MB/s write. Hardly numbers that match either reviews (160MB/s Max Read, 245 Max Write) or the advertised speeds (135MB/s Max Read, 225MB/s Max write). And yes, I'm using different USB 3.0 controllers!

Other Thoughts: For the price I am surprised that I've gotten two drives in a row that perform so far off from what seems to be expected. Sadly this one is worse than the first. Will try to sort things out with Kingston support, otherwise this puppy is getting sent back to Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsfantastic

Pros: Drive is fantastic, I get the advertised speeds when writing to 2x240gb Corasir force GT SSDs over USB 3.0 (makes me want a full ssd/raid card setup when writiing to my spinning platter back up drive which is a bottleneck of ~60-80 MB/s).

I like that the cap stays put, and only goes on in one configuration.

Cons: Purchased this on 12/26/2011 with the promise of a $50 rebate. IT IS NOW 3/18/2012, WHERE IS MY REBATE (even got the confirmation email from kingston that it was coming).

Just leaving this item in my pocket blue paint is wearing off, but it isnt too bad. Adds character they say.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I really like this item, wish I got the 256gb edition.

And for those of you who want to out geek people, yes people oooh and ahhh at the sheer capacity of such a device, just make sure you have the money to afford it responcibliy.

Lastly, when I had to move 100gb over USB 2.0 on a different system onto an external hard drive (buffalo) I got 10 MB/s and felt so trolled (system didnt have usb 3.0 and my flash drive was full). Once you buy this drive you are spoiled forever.

5 out of 5 eggsHyperX 3.0 128GB

Pros: Awesome speed, Huge capacity, Lid can be attached, Absolutely no problems. Its Kingston! Love Newegg!

Cons: Price, but worth it.

Other Thoughts: I got this to transfer movies and music around from computer to computer or to PS3. Works flawlessly. As advertised speeds with proper setup. On q6600/ 780i/ usb 3.0 pcie card getting 110MB/s write speed.

3 out of 5 eggsHuge potential, waiting on replacement

Pros: This flash drive wants to be awesome.

Cons: The drive I received was operating at 2/3 of everyone else's benchmarks, even after reformatting with the Kingston utility. Then it started intermittently failing. Sent back to Newegg for a replacement, as others seem happy, for some reason their system gave me a refund even though units were in stock, now they are out of stock again. Called in before they were out but staff were not able to do anything!

Other Thoughts: I want to like this drive, and have high hopes for its eventual replacement. I will definitely be getting the same drive again, as it seems like my experience was a fluke.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the price!!

Pros: To put it quite simply - this this is FAST. Very fast. It's my first USB 3.0 flash drive, so I expected it to be speedy. I was very skeptical that it would even come close to advertised write speeds. Exceeded my expectations.

Cons: Yes, it's expensive. It's 128 GB of flash storage...it's to be expected. I only wish I would've waited a few days before ordering because about 3 days after I ordered it, NewEgg was advertising a $50 MIR!

Other Thoughts: Seems very well built. Hopefully it lasts a very long time.
