1 out of 5 eggsPoor write speed

This review is from: Kingston 16GB microSDHC Flash Card Model SDC10/16GB

Pros: It used to be one of the roomiest cards in its heyday. Read speeds are average for its class, around 18 MiB/s

Cons: Consistently writes ~4 MiB/s.

Other Thoughts: My test platform is a Nexus One. For each of 10 rounds, I nuked the write cache and then wrote 2GB of /dev/zero to the card via dd. The results were predictably abysmal.

If I had to do this over, I'd have gone with solid performers like Patriot, PNY, or Transcend. Kingston, never again.

1 out of 5 eggsUseless

This review is from: Kingston 16GB microSDHC Flash Card Model SDC10/16GB

Pros: It's big. And less expensive than some others.

Cons: Slow, fails

Other Thoughts: I ordered one of these. It was quite slow, and failed within a few days. I exchanged it, and it looks like I can write to the new one from my PC, but as soon as my phone tries to write to it, it fails. I don't have this problem with my other microSD card, so it's not something wrong with my phone. Given that I have had two of these, both defective, I would not recommend this product.

Manufacturer Response:

I am sorry to hear that you are not happy with the performance of your Kingston SDC10/16GB. If you are seeing consistent speeds slower than 10MB/s, then it could be caused by many variables like the card reader, other host device, or format cluster size being used. For format cluster size, I suggest using SD Formatter software to reformat the card. It is written for the SD card technology and will optimize the performance of the card in most cases. The software can be freely downloaded from the SD Association website, http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/

These cards met the class 10 rating during qualification process designed by the SD Association. This qualification process is different than typical bench marking software.

1 out of 5 eggsReads like Class 2

This review is from: Kingston 16GB microSDHC Flash Card Model SDC10/16GB

Pros: none

Cons: All testing indicates it reads no faster than Class 2, write speed is close to Class 6. Overall, I highly doubt this is a class 10 device.

1 out of 5 eggsSub class 4 write speeds

This review is from: Kingston 16GB microSDHC Flash Card Model SDC10/16GB

Pros: Lots of space.

Cons: Slow write speeds. Usually get 2-3MB/s write with big or small files. Read speeds are fast though. Kind of lame for the price and a class 10 SD card.

Other Thoughts: Buy a cheaper one... it will most likely be the same speed or maybe even faster.

5 out of 5 eggsFast MicroSD

This review is from: Kingston 16GB microSDHC Flash Card Model SDC10/16GB

Pros: SDHC Class 10 much smoother operation on devices via speed. Makes transfer faster moving files around and installing and running on mobile pc faster as well. 16gb is pretty hefty.

Cons: Wish there were 32gb 64gb out already =).

Other Thoughts: Having a faster qualtiy flash card wont bottle neck your camera, mobile phone etc. Big plus for me
