1 out of 5 eggsCrucial M4 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive

Pros: I can't find much to like about his product.

Cons: I thought Crucial was a solid brand, so I went with this SSD. It failed after a couple months. I decided it was a fluke and purchased the same model again. That one failed in less than 6 months. Based solely upon my experience, I will never purchase another Crucial SSD. Using Samsung atm and having zero issues.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend this SSD. Crucial seems to be having issues with this model.

4 out of 5 eggsrandom boot screen freezes

Pros: I have this as my boot drive along side a 1.5 tb HDD. This drive allows my computer to boot in less than half the time of my 3 gbps HDD.

Cons: I get random boot failures, the boot screen will freeze as the windows logo is coming up. Usually doesn't happen more than 2-3 times in a row.

3 out of 5 eggsAfter 18 months, firmware bug made me pull it

Pros: Good value, worked reasonably well until firmware bug cropped up 1 wk ago

Cons: Firmware bug (Crucial has posted an update)

Other Thoughts: May be Window's fault but some incompatibility between the latest version of microsoft NET software and the firmware on this drive caused the PC to shut down after almost exactly 1 hour every time. Google Crucial M4 PC crash 1 hour and you will see plenty of hits. Crucial has released a firmware update but what a PITA and hard to troubleshoot until you realize the 1 hour consistency. I assume that new drives have the new firmware but you might want to check before this crops up.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome SSD

Pros: Very fast and reliable. Comes with mounting bracket and cable.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've been using it for 14 months now and it's as fast as day one. Will buy a second one when they go cheaper.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfect.

Pros: Works great so far!
Very fast drive quicker then Vertex 3 ive done client builds with.
Boot time from On button to win7 is 14-15sec. Very impressive my Vertex 3 drives never did it that quick.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Another reason im going to support Crucial from now on is they are actually a Idaho company (Micron). Works great so far but should it fail ill report back with that info.

I see alot of people complaining about failures or formatting. You SHOULD expect to have to format every drive you buy new, Windows 7 these days has the option to do this in install process so thats not hard. Also get Diskeeper to maintain SSD's like they should be. Dont defragment SSD's like you would Spin drive, Also check google on what settings should be enabled in windows when running SSD's - I dont run sleep or hibernate on my computers its not good for ssd's.

5 out of 5 eggs1 year, no issues

Pros: No failures since day 1

Cons: None to report

Other Thoughts: I use this as an SSD cache. Yes, it is large for this, but I wasn't sure if I would want it as another drive instead. I wanted a bigger one in case I changed my mind.

I don't know how it compares to other drives on the benchmarks, but it hasn't crapped out yet. I'm happy with it.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed within months

Pros: Worked fast while it lasted.

Cons: Failed like a brick in less than a year.

Other Thoughts: This is the 3rd Crucial M4 SSD that has failed on me. I've used them ini three different machines - one laptop and two different desktops. I'm back to mechanical hard drives until SSD's prove themselves.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Complimentary Hard Drive

Pros: Works really well. I use it to host my OS and it takes the drag out of Windows. Particularly upon start up and shut down.

Cons: Prices went down on SSD's, but at a certain capacity level the price is still to high. So I would say that the price would be the major negative.

Other Thoughts: Great complimentary drive for hosting the OS, if you want it to be your primary drive I would go bigger (500GB+).
