The Crucial m4 mSATA SSD delivers all of the award-winning performance and reliability of the Crucial m4 SSD – in a drive that’s an eighth of the size. It enables blazing fast system boot up and program launch on mSATA equipped desktop or laptop computers.

  • newegg Award-winning performance. Tiny form factor. Measuring in at about one-third the size of a standard business card (3cm x 5cm), the Crucial m4 mSATA is designed primarily for ultrathin laptop users who want to dramatically increase their system's performance. Featuring the same advanced controller technology, Micron custom firmware and high-speed synchronous MLC NAND that have made the Crucial m4 SSD a mainstay on the market, the Crucial m4 mSATA SSD is engineered to deliver the same blazing-fast performance as the award-winning 2.5-inch SSD – in a smaller mSATA form factor.
  • newegg Ultrathin form factor means flexibility. Because of its tiny mSATA form factor, the Crucial m4 mSATA SSD can do things that hard drives and other SSDs often can't. With the Crucial m4 mSATA SSD, save valuable system space by mounting it directly to the mSATA socket on your motherboard – and free up a hard drive bay in the process. Or just keep your existing hard drive and use the Crucial m4 mSATA SSD as a cache to accelerate the system's performance. Validated for Intel Smart Response Technology and NVELO Dataplex caching software, it's designed to work as a cache or as a standalone SSD for ultrathin laptops. No matter how you use the Crucial m4 mSATA SSD, experience high-performance storage in a tiny, low-power package.
  • newegg Consistently fast speeds. No exceptions and no fine print. There's a reason that Crucial SSDs have garnered numerous international awards – they do what they're supposed to do. No matter what kind of files you're working with on a Crucial SSD, you'll experience high speeds with no drop in performance. Unlike other SSDs on the market, Crucial SSDs treat all files the same, regardless of whether they're compressed or uncompressed. This is important because the files most people use everyday – videos, mp3s, advanced graphics files and zip files – are compressed files and thus unable to be compressed any further. While many SSDs on the market achieve faster speeds by using file compression, many of the most common file types can't be compressed, resulting in SSDs that often deliver drastically slower speeds than originally advertised. With the advanced technology of a Crucial SSD, however, the advertised speeds are tied to real world use.
  • newegg Crucial - quality you can depend on. Crucial is a trusted name when it comes to SSDs, and that's no coincidence. As a brand of Micron, one of the world's leading manufacturers of SSDs, Crucial engineers work tirelessly to design, refine, and support a powerful line of SSDs.

4 out of 5 eggsQuality mSSD

Pros: Crucial name/reputation
Compatibility

Cons: None that come to mind

Other Thoughts: This mSSD is on the short list of units that have been tested to be compatible with the Drobo 5D as per their documentation. Installation was absolutely painless, and the performance boost this provided for the storage system was noticeable.

1 out of 5 eggsDPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

Pros: Really fast speeds, it's an improvement over a 7200rpm!
Good quality, cheap and easy to install.

Cons: Using it results in constant BSOD with Windows 7 64-bit or Windows 8 64-bit.

Other Thoughts: Windows 8 32-bit had no issues though but it's not what I want. I tried updating the firmware and every driver with no luck. Finally used another hdd in my build and behold, BSOD gone and everything works great!

1 out of 5 eggsMSATA

Pros: Was working like a charm for a day.

Cons: Died today with an error that an OS file was corrupted. Booted to BIOS and seen that it dropped in boot order. I moved it back to primary and booted. No success. Then I tried booting to the recovery CD with the mSATA as primary HD. It no longer detects the mSATA drive as C:\. I tried pulling the secondary hard disk to make sure there was no confusion on boot order and parition info. I cant even get the drive to mount so I can try to repair any files. It seems like its DEAD. :(

5 out of 5 eggsNice boot drive for laptop

Pros: Straight forward installation in a Lenovo E430 laptop. Migrated the boot partition using Paragon Hard Disk Mgr. without difficulty. Win7 WEI score for data transfer rate = 7.9

Cons: None so far (to early to tell)

Other Thoughts: I've also used this msata card in a SYBA SY-ADA40050 Mini-SATA to 2.5" SATA Adapter with success in a desktop PC.

5 out of 5 eggsWell worth it

Pros: Installation and updating the firmware was simple
The performance boost vs a 7200RPM drive was significant
It's helping me get the most out of my Sandy Bridge ThinkPad

Cons: Limited space to use it for anything other than a system drive only - I have a select few applications installed on it; they're mostly on my 500GB 7200RPM secondary drive.

Other Thoughts: Installation was simple in my ThinkPad W520.

I performed a firmware update, as one was available, immediately after installation without using the SSD at all first.

I have owned the drive just slightly longer than a month and use this computer daily. I have noticed no developing issues so far and experienced no problems with it at all. Here's hoping it lasts as long as the tough-as-nails computer it's installed in!

This was my first purchase from Newegg and I was entirely satisfied with my customer experience.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: High speed
Good quality and lifespan (so far)
mSATA form factor

did I mention FAST!!! - See other thoughts

Cons: A little bit pricey for a 64GB SSD nowadays however that is the case with all mSATA SSD.

Other Thoughts: I've used these in many server/workstation builds.
They are perfect size for any version of windows 7 or whatever other OS you want to use.

For those who care - Windows Experience Index scores this at 7.8 which is higher than my AData 128GB 2.5" SSD in my personal desktop. Haven't done any read/write tests, but I don't doubt that its up there with the higher end SSDs out there.
