1 out of 5 eggsExtremely slow writes, do not buy.

Pros: Reads 20-22MBps. All 16GB are there.

Cons: Writes just 4-5MBps.

Other Thoughts: I didn't know they still sold drives this slow in 2014.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Dan

My name is Amy from SanDisk support. We appreciate your interest in SanDisk products and your review. This flash drive is our entry level flash drive and doesn't have a published read/write speed.
If transfer speed is of your primary concern, you can go for SanDisk Extreme Pro 3.0, Extreme 3.0, Ultra USB 3.0 and 2.0. We suggest you to please contact SanDisk support at 1-866-SANDISK or submit a support request at for further assistance.

Thank you,
SanDisk Support

4 out of 5 eggsCapacity, not speed

Pros: I've had this USB Key for quite a while now, constantly banging around in my pockets, and it's still faithfully working, as all my other SanDisk Cruzers are. The quality is still there, at least for the White Toggled, Self Contained models. This drive is quite roomy and works good for large files. The indicator LED is quite prominent and makes it easy to monitor file transfer status.

Cons: Slow. This USB Key is significantly slower than all my other SanDisk Cruzers: 2GB and 4GB. I believe it's just the nature of the larger memory chips though, so please be patient with it, it takes time to lock that much data into a well made safe.

Other Thoughts: I got familar with the Cruzer lines when they originally showed up at Costco in three packs. They held their quality for quite a while, but with their premiere in the popular Big Box Cheap Factories, their dedication to quality design and function has noticeably taken a dive for the worse. I have shied away from the red toggled keys, as well as the micro keys and new oddly shaped round keys. I have not regretted this decision.

5 out of 5 eggsAlot of memory for under twenty dollars

Pros: 16gb for under $20.00
Sandisk quality and reliability

Cons: None - can't beat 16gb for less than $20.00

Other Thoughts: If your needing a cheap 16gb of portable storage, this memory stick is a definite buy.

2 out of 5 eggsdriving miss daisy

Pros: no cap, looks nice and so far very durable, bought for a little less on the jungle site

Cons: slow ..... very slow as others have said 4 - 5 mbs is all you are going to get out of this drive, I've tried fat and ntfs formats and no difference

Other Thoughts: I think they named this cruzer for a reason, like an old person cruizin in the low speed lane .....

1 out of 5 eggsWorlds Slowest

Pros: Small and capless

Cons: transfers about half the speed of competitors products. USB 2.0 port transfers less than 4.0 per second. I have a couple of Really old competitor drives at 8.5 per second and a couple not so old competitor drives at 12-16 per second on same USB port.

Other Thoughts: Did not read the reviews, nobody to blame but myself on this one. Will wind up using it to watch movies from my blue ray usb port.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for cheap storage and tough

Pros: Very tough drive. I left it in my jeans and had washed and dried it. I plugged it into my PC and all my files were intact with no issues.

Cons: As others have said the transfer speed is slow.

Other Thoughts: I got this for $12 on BF. It's not the fastest drive but it takes a beating and for the price it's hard to pass up

3 out of 5 eggsSlow compared to other brands

Pros: No cap to lose.

Cons: Transfer speed is ridiculously slow compared to other USB drives I have. Took over 12 mins to copy 2.8 gigs of video & about 7 mins for 1.7 gigs of video. My P*****t 16 gig does this in about half the time. No tweaks or adjustments were done to either drives. Both just plug-in & copy information over. I've seen similar performance from friends drives from the same manufacturer.

Other Thoughts: Wasn't even my drive, but made such an impression that I thought it would be good to tell ppl that there's much better USB drives offered out there for cheaper.

Other Thoughts: For those who want a fast USB Flash Drive, don't buy this product.

2 out of 5 eggsOh yeah... it's pretty slow.

Pros: Works alright for small batches of files.

Cons: I wrote prior review stating that transfer speed is not too bad... well, I was wrong. So, I will try to straighten that out now.

I didn't notice how slow it was until I tried transferring a larger 4GB folder. It took almost 20 min, and I was topping out at a sluggish 3.74 MB/s... or about half of what it should be. Burning a DVD would have been faster.

Other Thoughts: It will likely get returned.
