5 out of 5 eggsWorks as a standard SSD under linux.

Pros: Works as a standard SSD under linux
Cheap

Cons: None at this time.

Other Thoughts: Bought to be installed into a pfsense box, as I was planning to run Squid proxy on it. Works as expected, no issues detected.

Equipment: OEM Production 2550L2D-MxPC Intel NM10 Black Mini / Booksize Barebone System - OEM

4 out of 5 eggsGreat, just too small for anything important

Pros: Great price
runs like a top

Cons: Too small for the OS (windows 7 ultimate 64 bit) even with all of the directories moved and games and music and other programs all installed on a separate drive.

1 out of 5 eggsSoftware Not So Good

Pros: Hardware easy to install and reliable. Have it installed on two 64-bit W7 machines.

Cons: When the cache fills up, boot times and other PC performance gets slow (even slower than without the SSD - boot time is an extra minute or more). Even though there is new software that is supposed to fix this, it doesn't help. When the cache is empty, it works quite well but after about 24 GB full, it slows way down. Until the software is fixed, don't waste your money.

5 out of 5 eggsForget Benchmark Tests - Just Use It !!

Pros: Easy way to boost performance of a Windows 7 or Windows 8 computer that has a regular spinning hard drive.

See "Other thoughts" below for tips.

Cons: This drive is NOT intended to be used by itself as a Windows boot drive and NOT intended for benchmark tests. For those purposes you should choose a standard SSD instead of this specialised cache drive.

Other Thoughts: This SSD cache drive fills a very specific purpose. Plug it in, install their Express-cache software and restart the computer. Then use your computer as normal. Over the next few days the software will learn all the things you do frequently such as starting up Windows, going on the internet, opening your favorite programs, etc. Then the software tells the Sandisk ReadyCache to copy onto the SSD all the files needed to launch those frequent tasks. From then on all of those frequent tasks will start much quicker than before. You don't need to tune it, adjust it or otherwise mess with it - it just works!

Don't bother with benchmark tests because you'll really be testing your existing slow hard drive, not the ReadyCache. Instead, just enjoy the quicker, snappier performance of your computer.

Read speeds are fast so you get the speed boost of an SSD. Write speeds are slower, but those are done in the background and have little noticeable impact on performance.

2 out of 5 eggsSSD Good, BAD SOFTWARE needs improved or replaced.

Pros: Easy Install
Works as advertised.
Install, Reboot, open your favorite programs, reboot and open favorites two more times. On the 4th reboot everything you enjoy will be in the cache. As long as the files stay in the cache they work very fast.
YES you can format and use the SSD as a normal SSD without using the ExpressCache software.

Cons: No Support from SanDisk
Caches auto-flush = mostly empty all the time, so it is idle and doing nothing but waste your money.
Mostly Empty and unused all the time means it isn't working. The software constantly empties the cache completely defeating the purpose of the cache. Files once again have to get pulled from slow HD platters.
If there was a way to disable this aggressive cache flushing, the device would actually be worth buying.
I imagine it should load near 24 GB of files into the cache before even considering flushing... it's a 32GB drive and never keeps the cache alive.

Other Thoughts: Does not work like I expected it to work.
I bought it to speed up my 4TB media and data drives.
(too big to replace with an SSD).
It's unclear if it is block level caching or file level caching,
and if it is even caching files from C: D: and other drives or is it only caching from C: ?
An update to the software showing a list of files cached would be GREAT! Like a download list - it should just keep an ever growing list of the files it is copying into the cache - that way you know if it is really working correctly.
I have looked for replacement software - some cache programs are online for download.

1 out of 5 eggsA nuisance

Pros: Easy to install

Cons: Filling up the SSD causes windows to hang during startup. Clearing your cache is required to remove the startup delay. Significantly reducing the cache size seems to be the only available solution.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Pretty quick... Thin form factor.

Cons: 32GB.
