5 out of 5 eggsno surprises

Pros: Price from Newegg is better that the 2-pack I got from Sams for forty bucks.

Very tight USB sockets in my cheap Dell Desktop. But I was able to remove the tiny USB drive with my bare fingers after pushing it in. So they're tiny but graspable.

Readyboost? Desktop Vostro 230 with E5800 core2duo and Win7 takes 4 GB max. Open six browser windows and a couple of other apps, and the RAM gets filled 75% and the Swap file 40%, and the operating system starts making mistakes.

I put in a 32 GB Cruizer FIt and set it up for Readyboost. Windoze accepted it. The Fit did not change the reported RAM & Swap usage, but the stability of the desktop is much better when the RAM & Swap are stressed.

But first, I deleted 2 GB of security software from the Cruizer Fit. Simply hit "Delete" and it's gone.

I did not use the 2nd 32 GB Fit for Readyboost (although it's allowed), but to relieve some of the congestion in the little hard drive Dell put into the Vostro. I deleted the security software from the 2nd Fit too.

Cons: The little hard drive really wanted a 128 GB thumb drive to help out, and was diappointed when I came home with only 32 GB.

I don't think anyone should be confident using a thumb drive as their only "backup."

Other Thoughts: Minimum RAM for Win7 appears to be 8 GB, in my limited experience, if you're planning on little more than browsing and email. When Win7 has used up 4 GB of RAM, WinXP would have only used 2 GB of RAM to do the same thing, in my limited experience. For editing photos, audio, and / or video, Win7 seems to need 16 or 32 GB of RAM. Shame on Dell for selling a computer with Win7 that won't take more than 4 GB RAM.

Only possible upgrade for this Dell is to replace it. Relegate it to a distributed computing project.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive

Pros: I ordered this flash drive for the stereo in my truck. It is amazingly small. The drive itself is barely bigger than the actual USB dongle. Access times are perfect and what you would expect.

Cons: The thing is so small, I'm afraid if I take it out of the truck I'm going to lose it.

Other Thoughts: Came loaded with SanDisk security software installer. I promptly deleted it since I will only be using it to hold music for my truck stereo.

3 out of 5 eggsSecure Access issue - anyone can delete

Pros: Lots of storage in a very tiny package.
You can almost hide this drive under a dime.
Works good so far for general storage of files and photos.
Has a small metal loop for a lanyard.

Setting up the vault was quick and easy.
Adding files into the vault is also easy.

Cons: I primarily got this drive just for the Secure Access Vault software. (I already own several drives w/o a "vault")

It is also very easy for anyone who has your drive to delete all your files that you have "secured inside the vault".
They can't see or read the files but they can simply delete them.

After you "secure files in the vault", and then move the drive to another computer or even replace in your computer, there is a file that appears in the NON-secure part of the drive called "SanDiskSecureAccess Vault".
Clicking on this will open an encrypted list of all the "secure files" that are supposed to be inside your vault.

This list shows the date modified and the size of the file.
You (or anyone else that has your drive) can simply right click, select delete and your "secure files" are gone!!!

Aside from the vault NOT being secure, this drive works great.

Other Thoughts: I tried to secure that "SanDiskSecureAccess Vault" file inside the vault, in order to protect the encrypted files from other people being able to randomly delete them.

I dragged that file into the vault, unmounted and removed the drive.

When I went to use the drive again, the drive acted like I was setting up the vault from scratch again for the very first time. It wanted a new password. I used the same one, hoping the files would still be there, but they were GONE!

Thankfully I still had all the files backed up on my other drive!!!

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect size

Pros: Physical size - this thing is very compact. Ultimately this is a storage device with no moving parts and it either works or it doesn't. Mine works. The size means I can fit all my music, once converted to .mp3 format on the thing with some room to spare and the compact nature of the device means I can plug it into the usb slot of my car's center console and not worry about it getting knocked around and broken off.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: I really like this thing. I leave it plugged in 24/7 and all my music is readily and easily accessible in the car; no messing with discs, no aux port cables for phone or music player sticking out of the center console, no futzing with a device while driving. Car recognizes the device and starts playing within about 20 seconds from plugging in the key-fob.

Like it so much I just ordered another one for the radio in my son's room.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat For Car Audio

Pros: SanDisk seems to have targeted this Flash Drive for Car Audio or anything that's primary purpose is to read. I am using this on the rear USB of a Kenwood BT955HD. It is read almost instantly by the Head Unit. Casual speed measurement indicates that the Read is almost 10X the Write. So if you are looking for a USB drive that is safely out of the way and unobtrusive it would be difficult to do better.

Cons: None really. People that need fast writes should look elsewhere. If your goal is fast Reads for Car Audio I don't know if there is a better choice. It is USB 2, BUT so are Car Audio HUs, my Kenwood was new on the shelves March 2013 and it is USB 2. All the Head Units I know of are USB2/Fat32.

Other Thoughts: Small size is perfect for people who plug the thumb drive into the front of the head unit. Even if you plug the USB thumb drive into a read USB the small size is still a bonus, easier to tuck away, less physical stress on the USB plugin. There is also the bonus that people have mentioned before of just plugging it into a laptop and forgetting about it.

5 out of 5 eggsGood for size and price

Pros: Not the fastest USB drive I've ever owned, but it's good enough to hold MP3's for my car stereo's USB input, and the physical size of the drive is great for having 32gb capacity. Plus, I don't have a bulky normal-sized USB drive sticking out of my stereo now. It fits almost flush with the stereo's face.

Cons: Speed. If you're going to use this drive for rapid transfers, be prepared for a slight drawback in that department.

Other Thoughts: I gave it a 5 egg rating because it's great for the purpose for purchasing it.

4 out of 5 eggsTiny but Huge

Pros: 32GB of storage in a tiny package. I leave this plugged in to my laptop all the time. It cost me around $25 after shipping. That's a fair price.

Cons: It's USB 2.0 not 3.0.

Other Thoughts: It was shipped in a 12x10x10 box. It was sitting on the bottom of the box with a giant wad of crumpled paper sitting on top of it. The package could have been shipped in a small padded envelope. Newegg loses points for being wasteful.
