Transcend SSD320 256GB SSD

SSDs such as the Transcend SSD320 make the migration from mechanicals disks a very easy experience. At 256GB, the Transcend SSD320 offers up a good amount of space for your OS, programs and quite a bit of data. The SSD320 is also built with reliability and performance in mind, using a proven combination of a Sandforce SF-2281 controller along with 25nm MLC NAND and SATA III interface. The SF-2281 allows the SSD320 to take advantage of TRIM and Durawrite technologies to keep speeds up over time, even as the disk fills.

The SSD320 is also no slouch in terms of performance, boasting linear read and write speeds of 560 and 530MBps respectively. The SSD320 uses the latest 7mm form factor for compatibility in the slimmest Ultrabooks, but also fits into 9mm spaces and includes a 3.5" adapter for desktop users. Transcend’s SSD Scope software allows for S.M.A.R.T. health monitoring, firmware updating and drive cloning to make migration from a mechanical drive a snap. Transcend backs the SSD320 with a three-year warranty.

SSD 320

Fast Performance for All Your Computing Needs
Aimed at users looking to upgrade to the superior performance of solid-state technology at a competitive price, Transcend’s SSD320 with SATA III 6GBps technology makes sluggish computer boot-up and program launches a problem of the past. Boasting impressive transfer rates and excellent reliability, the SSD320 allows computer enthusiasts and gamers to take their system to the next level.

The SSD320 is ideal for those who use their computer primarily for everyday applications like internet browsing, basic computing, playing music or watching films. To fulfill the diverse needs to different users, the SSD320 is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux based systems. The 256GB* SSD320 acts as the perfect system partition (for installing your operating system).

SSD technology offers other advantages over traditional spinning hard drives. Since there are no moving parts in the SSD320, it is highly shock and vibration resistant. Consequently, less power is consumed versus a traditional hard drive increasing the energy efficiency of your devices when used in concert with a SATA III SSD.

SSD 320

Rapid Data Transmission
Coupled with the powerful SandForce controller, Transcend’s SSD320 offers impressive transfer rates of up to 550MBps sequential read and up to 530MBps write speeds and up to 86,000 IOPS 4K random write speeds. Even large amounts of data can now be transferred in a matter of seconds.

SSD 320

Improved Boot-Up and System Response Time
Transcend’s SSD320 optimizes your PC to reach top speeds and reduces system response time. Reboot your PC in just 32 seconds, reducing wait times by 60%. In comparison, to boot Windows 7 from a conventional hard drives takes about 82 seconds. When using the SSD320, files and programs, even memory-intensive applications like graphics programs, open in merely a few seconds.

SSD 320

Superior to Any Hard Drive
Transcend’s SSD320 is significantly faster than any hard drive. With an enormous speed advantage, a 4.7GB DVD file can be transferred in only 20 seconds. The SSD 320 is twice as fast as a SATA II SSD and nearly three times as fast as a traditional hard drive. Increase your productivity with the SSD320 and enjoy more free time.

SSD 320

Exceptionally Slim
To meet the size requirements of new generation Ultrabooks, the SSD320 is 7mm thick, compared to 9.5mm thickness of other SSDs. Using an industry-standard 2.5” form factor and super-slim body, the SSD320 can be easily installed into any device.

SSD 320

High-Performance SandForce Controller
Based on a powerful SandForce controller and asynchronous MLC flash chips, Transcend’s SSD320 offers both impressive transfer rates and reliability.

SSD 320

Shock Resistant
Unlike traditional hard drives, SSDs are manufactured with reliable NAND flash memory. As SSDs contain no moving parts, they are more resilient to mechanical failures that can result from vibration, shock or heat.

SSD 320

Notably Silent
Operation of an SSD is remarkably silent as there are no moving or rotating parts.

SSD 320

Traditional HDDs can considerably heat up during operation. An SSD, however, remains cool. Due to reduced heat development, annoying buzzing sounds originating from the SSD are rare.

SSD 320

Energy Efficiency
SSDs are extremely energy efficient compared to a HDD. Save energy, money and the environment.

SSD 320

Extended Battery Life
When used in a portable device, the SSD's positive attributes like an increased battery life and light weight become particularly apparent.

1 out of 5 eggsDefective Product/Bad Customer Server

Pros: It worked great when it was working.

Cons: I bought this SSD in 11/12, at the end of May '14, it suddenly stopped working. So basically is ONLY worked for a year and I half before I lost all my important files. I wanted to call Transcend on this, but there is NO phone number listed on site. I e-mailed them, and they told me to take the issue with NewEgg, which was absurd since their return policy is only for a few months after purchase. Anyway, since it was well within the manufacturer warrenty, I submitted an RMA with Transend, and mailed it last Tuesday. According to tracking, they received the HD that Thursday. However, I have not received ANY status update from them. There is a link they gave in the RMA info e-mail they sent last week to see the status, but it just took me to the RMA submittion information page. I sent an e-mail (because again, I CANT CALL THEM), requesting information, but I've received no responce. Do not buy this product. It's defective and their customer service is horrible.

3 out of 5 eggsGood drive, NO Tech support

Pros: At the time that I purchased this drive it was fairly high on the Hard Drive Benchmarks (It has come down substantially since then). The drive was a good price for its size. The drive also came with cloning software to move my OS from my current, and outgrown 128GB, SSD to the new Transcend drive.

Cons: My biggest complaint about this drive is the lack of Tech support from Transcend. I attempted to update the firmware on the drive. Transcend's software recognizes the drive, but will not upgrade the firmware. I sent Transcend an email to their tech support department within a week of ownership, but I have yet to receive a response from them. That has been nearly 3 months ago.

Other Thoughts: Because of the lack of tech support for this product I can NOT recommend this drive. My first SSD drive was a OCZ 128GB drive, and I got tech support from them! Unfortunately I out grew that drive and had to upgrade.

2 out of 5 eggsDead...All Lost

Pros: Fast, easy install to laptop. Worked just fine until...

Cons: Drive completely died out of nowhere, tried to slave to another machine to test and nothing. All data gone....just gone! Not to sure if I would recommend this , probably wont take my chances on this particular brand again. Not Happy at all.

5 out of 5 eggsQuick

Pros: Quick little buggar. Yep, you can see the difference from a normal hard drive (SATA3).

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Checked the BIOS setting second power up and then it seen it. Easy install and SATA drive OS transfer- no dip switches. Makes a super boot drive. Hasn't degraded...yet.

5 out of 5 eggsworking fine

Pros: Installed about 3 months ago, haven't had a single issue. This was installed to replace a mechanical drive in an existing machine running Win 7x64 (installed as an upgrade in other words, not as part of a new build). I followed an install guide that I found online that indicated to physically install the drive first and then format it using Disk Management. I did this, then installed a fresh copy of Win 7 on it, I did not use the migration software that Transcend has available for those who don't want to perform a clean install. Once the OS was installed, I made sure TRIM was enabled and made a few other tweaks (disabling virtual memory, etc.) and have not had a single problem with it.

This is a SATA III drive, but my onboard controller is only SATA II. Still, a saturated SATA II bus can really push some serious data. I haven't seen any single piece of hardware make so much of a difference in performance on any machine I've ever built, with the exception of some video card upgrades I've done for gaming purposes. It's night and day compared to the previous mechanical drive (a WD Caviar Black). Has the added benefit of being completely silent, of course.

Got a great price on it, also -- cheaper than it is now, even, 3 months later. Thanks newegg!

Cons: Can't think of any. It works, so what more can one ask for?

Other Thoughts: Based on this purchase, and assuming price, reviews and performance are basically comparable to the other products currently on the market, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Transcend drive.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: This amazing piece of equipment has dramatically increased the speed at which my computer runs because before i had this thing the only part of my computer that was slowing everything down was my poopy hard drive, now its my hard drive waiting for the rest of my computer. It has had absolutely no failures in my 2 month ownership of it. Originally when i told my brother i was going to get a ssd he told me i was crazy since he thought i would be breaking the bank for it but then i found this and blew him away.

Cons: its too good for such a low price...

Other Thoughts: I love how reliable it is.

5 out of 5 eggs screams

Pros: I put it in a Mountain Lion hackintosh... Amazing speed. Super short boot times. The only thing I can compare it to is 15k RPM drives I've used in the past, and this blows them away (read and write)

Cons: Wish they were cheaper, but at this price I'm happy

Other Thoughts: Want to buy more of these after seeing how well the machine performs

4 out of 5 eggsGood SSD, Fast

Pros: This drive gave new life to my 2010 white MacBook. I'm using it with a SATA II connection but the speeds are unbelievable.

Cons: The drive works perfect on my MacBook but wish Transcend had better Mac support for updating the firmware.

Other Thoughts: So far I have had the drive for about a month and its working perfect. I recommend this drive if you want fast speeds on your computer.
