4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Storage

This review is from: ADATA Value-Driven S102 Pro Effortless Upgrade 8GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Gray) Model AS102P-8G-RGY

Pros: USB 3.0
Hard outer shell. I don't feel bad lightly tossing this onto a shelf or dresser... or really anything.
Transfer speeds are pretty okay.

Cons: ....I had to pay for it I guess...?

Other Thoughts: I bought one of these because I know ADATA has a good rep with memory. It's purpose is to replace two extremely old flash drives; old enough that I think one is USB 1.0. Not sure.
Coming from the good second one, it's a huge increase in performance. 2 gb of files transferred in just a couple minutes, instead of the hours the other drives took.
Definitely planning to grab a couple more of these. The hard outer shell leads (or fools) me to believe that these won't have a problem accidentally breaking from being sat on, and that the housing shouldn't fall off, as in the case of my other good flash drives, however comical it might be.

4 out of 5 eggsWhen you need one...

This review is from: ADATA Value-Driven S102 Pro Effortless Upgrade 8GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Gray) Model AS102P-8G-RGY

Pros: Affordable is an understatement here.
Not cheaply made for sure.
Nice pseudo-oval shape makes it fit better in your pocket.
USB 3.0 native and 2.0 compatible without issue.
Doesn't come with a keychain/lanyard strap, but does have a notch for either.
And the single most important pro of all for any USB thumbdrive:
NO ANNOYING PROPRIETARY AUTO-MOUNTING SOFTWARE!!!
THANK YOU!!!

Cons: Speeds aren't even close to the best among USB 3.0 thumbdrives. If it was a tier faster (almost double what it is), I'ld have given it a solid 5 eggs. The 32GB MicroSD card (G.Skill FF-TSDG32GA-C10) in my LG 840G TracFone is faster over USB 2.0.

Other Thoughts: These numbers are taken from CrystalDiskMark 3.0.2 set to 5 passes of 1GB and are in MB/s Read & Write:

43.19 & 17.46 Sequential
41.63 & 1.960 512K Random
7.382 & 0.056 4K Random
6.228 & 0.024 4K-QD32 Random
Yeah, no joke here... 5200RPM single platter HDDs have faster writes and sequential reads than this... I may soon replace this with a USB 3.0 adaptor to my 64GB SSD.

5 out of 5 eggsNot much to review

This review is from: ADATA Value-Driven S102 Pro Effortless Upgrade 8GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Gray) Model AS102P-8G-RGY

Pros: Well, I mean, its a flash drive, and it works.
Speeds are great, its durable, and looks pretty good too.
Honestly not much else to say as flash drives don't really have much to talk about

Cons: Only con I can think of is the fact that it does not come with a string or loop of some sort to be used with the loop-hole in the stick. I had to make one out of a heavy duty string.

4 out of 5 eggsMy first USB 3.0 Flash Drive.

This review is from: ADATA Value-Driven S102 Pro Effortless Upgrade 8GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Gray) Model AS102P-8G-RGY

Pros: 8GB is enough to store a bootable installation Windows OS. No more optical drive/media needed. Casing looks/feels tough. USB 3.0.

Cons: No read/write LED.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Speed, Good Price

This review is from: ADATA Value-Driven S102 Pro Effortless Upgrade 8GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Gray) Model AS102P-8G-RGY

Pros: -Decent price while still maintaining quality
-USB 3.0 speed
-Convenient Cap

Cons: -Still as easy to lose as most drives

Other Thoughts: The speed isn't phenomenal but in serious operation it will definitely tap out usb 2.0. If you want a faster drive you're going to have to go with bigger capacity (more silicon means more parallel access)

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: ADATA Value-Driven S102 Pro Effortless Upgrade 8GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Gray) Model AS102P-8G-RGY

Pros: Great drive, first flash drive ive bought in a few years figured it was time for an upgrade, the write speeds are very good compared to my old one, the build quality is very nice

Cons: Wish the cap for the drive was metal, also wish it was a tad bit heavier duty,

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised

This review is from: ADATA Value-Driven S102 Pro Effortless Upgrade 8GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Gray) Model AS102P-8G-RGY

Pros: Much, much faster than my decrepit USB 2.0 sticks.

Durable aluminum shell.

Got it on sale.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I honestly don't use USB drives very often and generally am not moving large amounts of data when I do use them. So this 8GB stick does the job nicely. Plus the up and down speeds are so much faster than that of my older 2.0 sticks.

3 out of 5 eggs8GB USB 3.0 key ... reliable enough

This review is from: ADATA Value-Driven S102 Pro Effortless Upgrade 8GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Gray) Model AS102P-8G-RGY

Pros: Reliable. Fast enough. I use these for making bootable drives (LiveCD, disinfecting PCs and for ASD drives...if ya gotta ask, I won't tell)
Cheap.

Cons: No indication of read/writing. No LED. Who cares about the cap? I need feedback or indication other then mounted (think using more than one) on desktop. Oh well.

Other Thoughts: Adata has been hit or miss with me. I bought these for testing and for giving out.
