The Patriot Memory Supersonic Magnum USB 3.0 flash drive delivers unprecedented performance in a stylish form factor with storage capacities up to 64GB. A durable aluminum enclosure enables shock resistance up to 15Gs to ensure greater protection of your data. USB 3.0 technology enables the Patriot Supersonic Magnum USB 3.0 to outperform USB 2.0 flash drives by up to 10x - a large 2GB file can transfer in mere seconds to and from the Patriot Supersonic Magnum. By combining a single-chip USB 3.0 flash memory controller with 8-Channel technology, the Patriot Supersonic Magnum delivers sequential read performance at speeds up to 200MB/s and up to 120MB/s sequential write speeds.

  • newegg Single-chip USB 3.0 Design with 8-Channel Technology The Patriot Supersonic Magnum series eliminates performance bottlenecks introduced when using a separate USB 3.0 bridge chip by integrating a native USB 3.0 flash memory controller. This results in a smaller footprint and higher performance than bridge-based solutions. By pairing the controller with Patriot 8-Channel technology, the Patriot Supersonic Magnum achieves sequential read speed up to 200MB/s and sequential write speed up to 120MB/s.
  • newegg Ultra Durable and Portable A durable aluminum enclosure enables shock resistance up to 15Gs for better protection of your data. And a smaller physical size of the Supersonic Magnum USB 3.0 flash drive allows for even greater portability and style.
  • newegg A rating of 9/10 from Modders-Inc.com The “lightning fast” and “light wight” Supersonic drive has won a rating of 9/10! “Sharing files, traveling from place to place, from work to home and back, it can’t get much easier and faster than with the Patriot Supersonic USB 3.0 Flash Drive.” “For another comparison test I ran a test on a Hitachi SATA 3GB drive and it too was beaten down by the Patriot Supersonic flash drive, but it did not come in last as it whipped the tar out of the "so-called" USB 3.0 drive from Western Digital. The Patriot Supersonic Flash Drive was 68% faster on the Read and 12% faster on the Write.” Read the full article by following the link: http://www.modders-inc.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story3&reid=351

4 out of 5 eggsSpeeds so fast your face will literally melt.

Pros: Super fast, relatively affordable, looks awesome, and it has an aluminum shell.

Cons: Slightly higher price than other flash drives, but you get what you pay for. Also, I wish they made this device narrower, not so much of an issue with stacked USB ports but if it's side by side like my laptop it can run into

Other Thoughts: If you're tired of waiting for your files to transfer, this is the ticket to one of the best USB drives. I may have to purchase another one of these bad boys in a larger size.

4 out of 5 eggsmeh, its ok

Pros: I gave it 4 eggs and not 5 because it has not died, hope I didn't just jinx myself.

Cons: it looses 1 egg because its not as fast as claimed, yes is runs on 3.0 controller, but its fine, the one nagging thing is the lack of an LED, Patriot are you listening to anyone? all the reviews on the web state the same, put a darn light on it already.

Other Thoughts: maybe next year the next batch (generation) will have an LED and be a bit faster, honestly its 2013 already speed these things up again, or someone invent a flash drive using thunderbolt and price it right, they will sell like hot cakes.

1 out of 5 eggswrite corruption

Pros: ~100MB/sec

Cons: 1) Consistent file corruption when writing from my laptop to the Patriot Magnum. (No problem when writing same files to a USB3 external HDD, for comparison.) File corruption makes this unusable.
2) Physically too wide. Overlaps adjacent side-by-side USB port.

Other Thoughts: Too bad. This one is going back for a refund.
The Patriot Supersonic Magnum is fast enough to be usable - roughly 100MB/sec when writing or reading 50MB camera files. But it consistently gives write errors and corrupts files, so that kills it.
Also, it is physically too wide and overlaps adjacent side-by-side USB ports.

1 out of 5 eggscorrupts files - totally unacceptable

Pros: No Pros.
I can't get it to write files without corrupting them.

Cons: Corrupts files.
Physically too big. Won't fit in side-by-side USB sockets when a device is in an adjacent socket.

Other Thoughts: This is going back for a refund. Very disappointing.

I tested it multiple times with various files and scenarios. It always corrupts some of the files I try to write to it. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.
It came formatted FAT32. I tried formatting it with exFAT and then with NTFS. Both quick and then full. Still no difference. Every attempt at write resulted in some corrupted files.
Also, it is so physically wide that it overlaps adjacent side-by-side USB sockets.

Tested with a folder of 100 RAW NEF camera files, each about 50MB in size, for a total of 5GB. Tested on 2 computers: desktop and laptop.
"Write" 55 sec = 91MB/sec.
Read 38 sec = 132 MB/sec.
Write is in quotes because it corrupts some of the files when it writes them.

With its speed, this could be a highly usable USB stick.
But because of the file corruption and physically unusable size, this product is a total failure. Very disappointing. I expected better from Patriot.

1 out of 5 eggsLots of file corruption

Pros: Poentially large space if it works.

Cons: Lots for file corruption and a lot a times the write speeds are KB/sec. I have requested RMA. We shall see how it goes.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Speeds, Shoddy contruction

Pros: I'm getting pretty good speeds with USB 3. Was averaging 200MB/s and 150MB/s read and write speeds respectively with a very large file. I was only averaging 90MB/s with my brother's Corsair USB 3 drive.

Cons: Like others said, this is a very wide flash drive, about twice the width of a USB connector. Docked one star for shoddy construction. Within the first few uses, the blue plastic on the end came off when I plugged it in. Nothing some stronger glue won't fix probably.

Other Thoughts: Great performing drive, but could have made a better casing.

4 out of 5 eggsPatriot Supersonic Magnum 64GB on NEC / RENESAS USB3 Latest Driver / Firmware

Pros: This is my second drive.
Fast on both USB2 (easily max speed every time) & USB3.
Getting 110MB/s write & 220MB/s read throughput with writes varying from 128k to 8MB overlapped using ATTO Disk Benchmark.
Price has come down considerably since my previous purchase.

Cons: With the FULL and latest NEC / RENESAS USB 3.0 Host Controller drivers on my Vaio F-Series laptop (see station-drivers.com), I am finally able to get the unit recognized as USB3, but not without having to unplug/replug a few times. But I suspect this has more to do with NEC / RENESAS or Sony's implementation.
Wide - blocks other ports unless you use a usb3 cable.
Cap not integrated, and cap has no eyelet for lanyard attaching to body, so can get lost easily.

Other Thoughts: I gave it a poor rating before when I could not get USB3 connection (always usb2) on my Sony Vaio F-series laptop, but that seems to be fixed now w/latest drivers, albeit not perfect. Speed is incredible - better than most mechanical HD!
