5 out of 5 eggs3rd Supersonic

Pros: Retractable
Sturdy
Fast
Cost Effective
See other thoughts

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Some reviewers have commented on the retractable function not working after heavy use. I have purchased 3 of these, I still own 2 as I gifted one to a friend, and the first one I purchased in November of 2011 is a little finicky at this point. However, it will still lock in place if you push up, towards the side labeled Supersonic Xpress, while pushing in.

I believe one of the reasons mine still latches as it is supposed to, is because whenever I pull it out of a USB port I make sure to click it to unlatch it as well. If you just yank it out, it probably damages the latching mechanism.

Great burst write speed initially; large file transfers.
For example, 1.8GB movie file initially starts at 225MB/s, then to 150MB/s for about 10-15 seconds, then slowly levels off to to somewhere between 50-80 MB/s. All in all, nearly 2 GB transferred in roughly 40 seconds...that's pretty good. That's coming from 1TB WD Black.

Read Speed is pretty good also, usually average 20-25 MB/s. Just tested a 4.2GB transfer of files of varying sizes and types and it was a solid 25 MB/s average. Initially 15 MB/s and then steadily climbed up to 33 MB/s; roughly 2.5-3 minutes total.

Hasn't let me down yet.

3 out of 5 eggsLooked great on paper, but...

Pros: No data problems.

Cons: May be USB 3.0 compatible, but slow.
Retractable sliding cover is problematic.

Other Thoughts: I had 2 of these. Dropped my laptop and it broke, which Patriot swapped under warranty (though after a few calls). That one had issues with the retractable cover. The replacement I've had for a year, and the cover on that is also is a problem -- it jams, and now does not retract all the way. I'm going to cut off the cover altogether. There are better brands/models for the price nowadays, so I would not get one of these again.

1 out of 5 eggsA terrible flash drive... Stay away...

Pros: - Good for the price (that is all)
- USB 3.0

Cons: - Died after only a week or 2 of usage... wow... I'm lost with words
- Average transfer speed
- Will need a replacement... and will probably look elsewhere for a higher quality flash drive...

Other Thoughts: I would stay away from this Patriot flash drive and look for either a higher quality model or a different brand such as PNY.

1 out of 5 eggsBroke quickly

Pros: Big and fast

Cons: This drive while great while it worked become corrupted and windows could not even mount the drive. I have been trying to get Patriot Memory to RMA it but their RMA department will not reply to any e-mails that i have contacted them with.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointingly slow

Pros: Cheap price, no cap to loose

Cons: Don't believe this thing is USB 3.0 speed. Write times are slower than a 4 year old USB2 Sandisk Cruzer or an older Kingston Datatraveler. Had the same problem with a Patriot Dash 32gb stick- it's so slow you feel like you're writing to a floppy drive.

Other Thoughts: 1 year old Corsair 3.0 Flash Voyager 32gb almost 3 times faster write speed.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear you had some issues with our flash drive. Please e-mail me: support@patriotmem.com and I'll be glad to assist you in the matter.

Kind Regards,
John

4 out of 5 eggsMediocre speed, reliable

Pros: reliable

Cons: mediocre speed for USB 3.0

Other Thoughts: It's pretty good for a $25 stick, but compared to some of the better USB 3.0 ones, it's not particularly fast. Testing on a USB 3.0 port Seagate 6 gb/s drives, the stick writes at ~24 mb/s and reads at ~60 mb/s. Compare that with a PNY stick that consistently reads ~39 mb/s and writes in the mid to upper 80s.

5 out of 5 eggsFaster Than Everythin Else I Have

Pros: Amount of Storage,
Speedy,
Reliable thus far

Cons: Gets a "little" warm whilst plugged in, but not enough to dock an egg

Other Thoughts: Have yet to have any issues with this drive after over six months of use. Comes formatted as fat32. Haven't had the chance to try it out on usb3, but I'll admit I've seen it get up to well over 30mb/s read and write is usually between 15 - 30mb/s (mostly around 20mb/s). all of this was done on usb2 FYI. This is the fastest drive I've owned to date and none of my other drives have come remotely close to smokin' this one's speeds.

1 out of 5 eggsFast but fragile

Pros: Very fast - transfer rates are very good compared to other drives in same class.

Cons: Click mechanism quit after a couple of months of use. Requested RMA - have to pay to ship it back. Not worth it. I have read of others having this same issue.

The click mechanism will no longer lock into place and if it does, as soon as you try to plug it into something, it retracts.

Other Thoughts: If clicker can be improved/updated, this is an awesome drive.

5 out of 5 eggsPatriot Xpress 32 USB 3.0 Flash Drive

Pros: Extraordinarily fast and reliable. Noticeably superior read & write speed over my USB 2.0 flash drives. The 32 GB size is a significant bonus. Never lost data. It was unknowing left in my pants pocket when my pants were washed and dried in a commercial washer and high temperature dryer. That was over three months ago and still no problems and no loss of data. It still works as new.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Quality

Pros: USB 3.0, large capacity.

Cons: Low speed for USB 3.0, older tech.

Other Thoughts: This was one of the first USB 3.0 drives to hit the market, get a faster and better quality one for the same amount of money. Mine worked for a day then had CRC errors all over, I got a refund.

Large capacity, Patriot doesn't honor rebates

3 out of 5 eggs
Small, USB 3.0, faster than 2.0
— Eric 10/8/2011

Works fine

5 out of 5 eggs
Works without issues. I get up to 50MB/s in normal usage over USB 3 (not benchmarking tests) and enjoy the capacity.
