OCZ Agility 3 SATA III Solid State Drives are designed and built to provide an exceptional balance of performance and value. The Agility 3 Series implements the cutting-edge SATA 6Gbps interface to deliver excellent sequential and random data transfer rates, significantly improving your computing experience over hard drives.

In addition to enhanced performance, an Agility 3 upgrade promotes cooler, quieter, and more energy efficient conditions compared to traditional mechanical hard drives. With no moving parts, SSDs provide peace of mind with their superior durability and reliability. Unique and innovative, Agility 3 SSDs deliver a one-of-a-kind storage solution.

  • newegg Engineered for Cost-effective performance The OCZ Agility 3 SATA III Solid State Drives are designed and built for cost-effective performance. By leveraging the latest SATA 6Gbps interface and the second generation of SandForce SSD controller (SF-2281), the Agility 3 pushes the limits in both sequential and random data transfer rates with up to 525MB/s read plus incredible 4KB random write performance of 50,000 IOPS. This significantly improves your productivity, gaming, multimedia, and overall computing experience. It is backwards compatible with SATA II / 3Gbps, and is also compliant with ATA/ATAPI-8 Standard Native Command Queuing (NCQ). (Max performance achieved using Native SATA 6Gbps chipset. Rated speeds may vary slightly depending on the benchmark used, drivers, windows version, bios version and file size.)
  • newegg A Superior PC Experience In addition to enhanced performance, an Agility 3 upgrade promotes cooler, quieter, and more energy efficient conditions compared to traditional mechanical hard drives. With no moving parts, SSDs provide peace of mind with their superior durability and reliability.
  • newegg TRIM Support The OCZ Agility 3 offers native TRIM support featured in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Designed to maintain the performance of SSD at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive, TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.
  • newegg S.M.A.R.T. Technology The OCZ Agility 3 adopts Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.) which enables the PC to predict the future failure of hard disk drives. Through the SMART system, hard disk drives incorporate a suite of advanced diagnostics that monitor the internal operations of a drive and provide an early warning for many types of potential problems. When a potential problem is detected, the hard drive can be repaired or replaced before any data is lost or damaged.
  • newegg ECC Recovery Designed with the file verification and repair tool- ECC Recovery, OCZ Agility 3 provides up to 55 bits correctable per 512-byte sector (BCH), protecting your important files and sensitive data against digital corruption by using Reed-Solomon codes.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate to "Dead"

Pros: It is fast.

No issues and it works great! Issue was due to a bubbled up Capacitor next to the SATA port.

Cons: Just the firmware updates.

Other Thoughts: Update to the review on 5/26/2013 10:47:19 AM.

My 7200rpm drive worked for a short while and then it was unreadable.

After a lot of troubleshooting it ended up being an issue with the SATA controller on the MB. Turns out it was one of those KZG type capacitors that are known to fail. Replaced the cap and all is good.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing RMA

Pros: Fast drive

Cons: had it for a year then without warning bios does not see it .

Other Thoughts: Even thought the drive failed I would recommend these, Why you ask number. (1) the company is amazing they will make things right for you . (2) people that come on here is a very small majority people that actually bought the drive if you look at the actual data % of the RMA'S it would be extremely low. My self i would deal with a company that is honorable, When the drive did fail the first day i contacted them things were settled all i had to do was mail mine in and wait for the new one to arrive.

2 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Super fast and easy to install. Cheap.

Cons: Worked for about a year then all of a sudden I've been getting blue screens. From kernel_data_inpage_error's (which is the most common one) to 0X00F4 and scsiport.sys. They would all come on at different blue screens and I still haven't been able to fix the problem. I've been told that this ssd might be dying, say it ain't so.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Enzo,

We are happy to help you get this figured out. Please contact our Support Forum and reference your various blue screen codes and what corrective steps you have tried so far. Also, please download our Desktop Toolbox and post a screenshot of the drive SMART data. We will quickly investigate what is happening, correct it, or arrange for a warranty resolution.

On behalf of OCZ, I apologize for the inconvenience!

Kind Regards,
OCZ Support

2 out of 5 eggsDead

Pros: Was fast while it worked.

Cons: 1 yr 4 months. Dead.
It started having issue and had to rebuild the BCD file for win7 as that area of the disk was unreadable. Repaired and it ran for about a day and now the bios will not even see it anymore.

Also, when I did a firmware updates a while ago, it was major PIA. Can not upgrade if it is active and it was my OS/BOOT drive at the time. Had to boot another drive just to do the update.

Other Thoughts: Reinstalling on a good old fashion 7200 rpm hard drive from a manufacturer that has never died on me. Will see if I can recover the SSD, but made a full backup after the first repair so nothing lost.

2 out of 5 eggsShould have listened

Pros: Great when working

Cons: First one DOA, got another one quickly with an RMA, and it is now dead after about 7 months.

Other Thoughts: I saw all the posts about the troubles with the drive but thought "it won't happen to me"

Now I'm here posting about how I should have listened to everyone else. To those who read this, I hope you will learn from me and stay away from this drive, and possibly others from OCZ

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Anonymous,

Recurring failures may point to an incompatibility with your system. We will gladly arrange for an alternative replacement and assist you in getting the drive setup and working properly. Please contact us using the link below and be sure to reference your previous RMA number.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience!

Kind Regards,
OCZ Support

5 out of 5 eggsNo problems at all

Pros: Never had a single issue with it. No skips, fragmentation issues, stalls, anything of the like. I've filled it somewhat close to capacity (80%) and proceeded to delete and refill as necessary without any noticeable slowing or anything. Great drive.

Cons: None!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - "My SSD is faster than your HDD!"
- Got it on sale

Cons: - Wish there was some kind of software to manage it, like Samsung has for their SSD's.
- Had to buy a seperate mounting bracket for this SSD, as it does not come with one.
