1 out of 5 eggsWorked great until...

This review is from: OCZ Vector Series VTR1-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC

Pros: Device is very fast. I threw my OS on there and, with my BIOS in fast boot, ended up getting to the welcome screen in about fifteen seconds from cold start. Also, it's occasionally on sale, so you might be able to pick it up for a lot cheaper, like I was able to.

Cons: I had my SSD for around nine months when it started throwing telltale signs of a bad HDD, occasionally freezing, random bad sectors, etc etc but I just wrote it off and hoped it would go away. Then, randomly I reset my PC, Disk Check ran and found tons of bad sectors and corrupted files, which it said it "repaired" and on next restart, it was no longer recognized by my computer.

Other Thoughts: Do not buy! I am unsure if this is a product line-wide problem of OCZ's, or if it's just this model, but if this and most every review is true, this drive is absolutely terrible and will die on you unexpectedly and far sooner than it should.

2 out of 5 eggsFast for Months

This review is from: OCZ Vector Series VTR1-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC

Pros: Very easy to install, converted from HDD boot drive. Murdered the old boot times.

Cons: Started throwing Disk errors after 3 months, is no longer usable after 6. Looks like most of the con reviews started popping up shortly after I purchased it. :(

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Consumer,

We will gladly assist you with any issues you are experiencing. Most issues are easily corrected remotely. If we cannot quickly correct the issue we will arrange a quick RMA and replacement if necessary.

Please contact us using the link provided below and we will work to resolve this issue.

1 out of 5 eggsUnreliable..DO NOT BUY!!!

This review is from: OCZ Vector Series VTR1-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC

Pros: It is an SSD. Fast when it works.

I really wanted to like this drive. I WAS a huge fan of OCZ.... and then....

Cons: I bought the drive late 2013. It worked well for a few months then died. RMA through OCZ was fast, and they sent out a refurbished SSD to me. Again same thing, died in a few months. Now on RMA number 2. Maybe I have had bad luck with last to SSDs, but 2/2 being RMA'd is enough to get me looking for a new company. I Highly recommend if you are looking for and SSD DO NOT get an OCZ unless you enjoy having an expensive paper weight laying every few months.

Other Thoughts: It worked really well when it was up, but what good is speed if it is unreliable.

1 out of 5 eggsA lot of wasted time and lost data

This review is from: OCZ Vector Series VTR1-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC

Pros: in the beginning SSD was pretty fast, 5 year warranty

Cons: Died.

Other Thoughts: 8 months after buying my SSD died for no apparent reason. I contacted OCZ and used their 5 year warranty to have it replaced. It was a common issues from my research. After at least 2 weeks and back an forth emails with OCZ, they told me they no longer made this specific drive and offered me the new Vector 150 120gb. Needless to say I wasn't happy. It wasn't much but I lost 8 gbs of space. Fast forward to now, Vector 150 drive started getting multiple BSOD and corrupted data. It was a gamble every day turning on my computer. Over the course of 2 weeks more and more windows system files were corrupting to the point I couldn't even do system restores or recovery options. Constant scan disks claimed to have fixed and repaired the hundreds of problems only to have it happen again the next morning. I've even did a complete re-install of windows. that was a no-go, as soon as I got to my first reboot the windows update exe was corrupt and another BSOD. Finally gave up and purchased the new Samsung 850 pro and haven't looked back. First install and everything has been perfect and even picked up the 256 gb. Will never never use OCZ again. So many lost hours......

1 out of 5 eggsBAD DRIVES

This review is from: OCZ Vector Series VTR1-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC

Pros: Fast while it lasted

Cons: Bought this in Sept 2013 and it died July 2014. No surprise that these are out of stock and the referbs are too. This drive gave no inclination of failing, it just did. Don't even buy this product and anything else from them as IT WILL FAIL. Going back to the tried and true WD Love them. Never Ever had a prob with them. Don't suspect that I ever will. FYI stay away from PNY also they are a very close 2nd on the bottom of the pile for drives. Waiting on an RMA

Other Thoughts: Don't buy OCZ or PNY

1 out of 5 eggsOCZ Vector

This review is from: OCZ Vector Series VTR1-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC

Pros: Fast Bootup when it worked

Cons: Both Vector and Vertex 128 GB SSD's failed
Would not recommend OCZ products
Not a long term reliable solution, buyers beware
OS will not even recognize these drives
why are firmware updates constantly needed?

Other Thoughts: If you like expensive paperweights, then purchase these products

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry to read of the issues with your Vector and Vertex drive. If both drives experienced issues at the same time it is likely that something else has contributed to the problem. If you contact our Support we will gladly help troubleshoot and hopefully correct the issues without the need for a RMA. Regarding firmware updates, OCZ works to improve the performance of our products when possible. The Vector drive has received 3 firmware updates since 2012. The updates usually contain valuable enhancements and resolutions to rare system-unique corner case issues. OCZ publishes release notes at OCZ.com.

It appears your products were not purchased from Newegg. If either purchase was recent you might contact your place of purchase for an exchange. You may also contact us directly and we will help troubleshoot and, if necessary, remedy the issues with a RMA.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience!

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy OCZ drives!!!

This review is from: OCZ Vector Series VTR1-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC

Pros: Fast while it worked

Cons: After approximately six months, the drive began to corrupt data on shutdown/startup. This became more prevalent over the course of a couple weeks, and after testing in three different systems with the same results, I contacted OCZ support.
After going through their troubleshooting procedure, they insisted it was a system fault and not the drive. I explained that the corruption occurs over a power cycle, thus the reason it isn't showing up on tests with the system running. After a runaround from tech support, I finally got an RMA number.
After paying to ship the drive back to OCZ, I subsequently received a package back from them, containing the same drive I sent. This included a slip of the tests the drive passed, and surprise surprise, none of them would find a fault in the situation I described to support (shutdown/startup).
I had recommended OCZ drives in the past, but after not only receiving a faulty drive, but then the horrendous service I've encountered with this defective one, I will be advising all to steer far clear of OCZ products in the future.

Do not buy an OCZ drive unless you'd like a paperweight if you receive a defective drive.

Other Thoughts: This has become such a nightmare, I will feel badly if anyone who I previously recommended OCZ encounters a problem with one of their products.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

OCZ Storage Solutions always honors the OCZ Storage Solutions Limited Warranty for any qualifying drive that proves detective during the warranty period. If you receive a RMA and the drive tests faultly we always either send a replacement or (at our option) provide a refund at current market value. There seems to be some confusion in your situation; your drive is not detective at all and has passed our thorough testing which includes power cycles. If the drive tested faulty and we returned another drive your problems would just continue because the issue isn't directly related to the drive. Issues with corruption are usually related to CPU/Memory instability, cables/connection, or unplanned power losses.

If you contact us again we can help you narrow down what is causing the issues you are experiencing. You should also contact your motherboard or system manufacturer for parallel assistance. We sincerely want you to have a positive experience with OCZ products and are here to help.

Best Regards,

OCZ Support

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT GET!!

This review is from: OCZ Vector Series VTR1-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC

Pros: Fast bootup

Cons: Crashes with blue screen, completely crashed and not recognized after having it for 4 months.

Other Thoughts: Had contacted OCZ asking them for an RMA as well as if they could recover the ssd. They answered after sometime that they can't recover any files but could do the rma. Messaged them the next day for RMA and never heard a reply. Just left the ssd sitting on the desk for couple months now with no way of returning it for another. BAD COMPANY!!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

First, I am sorry you experienced issues with an OCZ product. Usually a request for a RMA is followed with some basic troubleshooting and then a request for a copy of your purchase invoice. If you did not receive this request it was likely routed to your spam/junk folder by your email provider. Please contact us again using the link below and reference your previous ticket number. We will gladly make RMA arrangements with you per the OCZ Storage Solutions Limited Warranty. If after contacting us again you do not receive a response (make sure to check your junk/spam folder) please contact me using the email address below and I will investigate.

On behalf of OCZ, I apologize for the inconvenience!

Kind Regards,

Robert

2 out of 5 eggsWorked for 1yr

This review is from: OCZ Vector Series VTR1-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC

Pros: It was fast while it worked

Cons: I've now owned the device for 1yr and 3 months. It just died. I had my Linux OS up and running and I started seeing "input/output error" on every application or command. Reboot and checked BIOS. Yep, it was gone.

Other Thoughts: Just created a service ticket. OCZ is now owned by Toshiba. Lets see how they handle the issue. If these drives are prone to die after 1 yr, I'd like them to give me something more reliable in exchange.

Luckily I was smart and kept my /home partition on an actual Samsung Spinpoint 1TB drive. So my files are safe. Samsung Drives have always proven reliable for me. I like OCZ, but if this keeps up, I'll just switch to samsung.
