5 out of 5 eggsGreat little thingy!

Pros: Perfect replacement for the x-in-one card readers.

Cons: Plastic feels a bit cheap but eh.

Other Thoughts: The x-in-one reader in my mom's computer bricked it, so I got one of these. It runs decently fast and she's able to pull her pictures off her card just as well as before. She even had me get an extra just in case.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent little device

Pros: Amazing little performer for so cheap.

Cons: Nothing really.

Other Thoughts: I bought this from Frie's Electronics, not newegg, back in 2010. It was slightly less than ten dollars by a few pennies, and it's been a great addiction to my PC repair toolkit over the years. It's durable, hasn't cracked open, and the USB build quality is there. The only minor thing it won't do is mount two SD cards at the same time, as they share a connection. However, you CAN mount either of the SD cards and a Sony stick at the same time, which is pretty cool. It's not a USB 3.0 product, but given flash memory speed limitations, it doesn't have to be.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED PRODUCT!

2 out of 5 eggsWorked Great Until It Died

Pros: Small, portable and inexpensive. It reads most standard memory cards.

Cons: This reader died 4 months after purchasing it. It should last much, much longer than that.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this item. While it is inexpensive, you get what you pay for. It works great while it lasts, but doesn't last very long.

Manufacturer Response:

• Thank you for choosing IOGEAR and we apologize for your experience. Please email us with a phone number to contact you at support@iogear.com. We will be more than happy to contact you with quality service and process an RMA. Once again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

1 out of 5 eggsWon't write SD Card

Pros: Cheap

Cons: I picked unit based on brand and was disappointed. Lot's of errors when writing to SD Card. So many errors that transfers would fail. Threw unit in trash and bought another brand at retail store. It writes same SD Cards with no errors.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for choosing IOGEAR and we apologize for the inconvenience. To better service you and understand your set up, please feel to contact our customer support at 1-866-946-4327 or email us: support@iogear.com. The GFR209 is a plug and play card reader. We have not seen or duplicated the errors you are describing. Your problem may be related to your computer. Once again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

4 out of 5 eggsThese are fantastic!

Pros: Totally reliable, simple, small - actually reads everything I throw at it! I go through these like water, and this model keeps being the reliable one in my bag.

Cons: No read/write activity LED... that's about it, but for the money, can't fault this too much.

5 out of 5 eggsBought in 2009; still working

Pros: Over the past four years, it has read the SD and MS cards (and a couple of their variants) that I've put into it. Rather than constantly plugging and unplugging my various devices with their differing storage media into my computer, I simply keep this reader attached to my USB hub permanently. The short 2-inch cord reduces clutter, and keeps the reader within view and easy reach.

Cons: Due to the short 2-inch cord, it may be inconvenient for those whose only available USB port is in the back of a desktop tower.
The color scheme might be a cosmetic issue for some people. It seems to be the company's corporate colors, and it's probably meant to give the small device a high-enough visibility for quick use. I don't like the lime, but I don't care enough to be upset about it.
