5 out of 5 eggsFast Little Drives

Coming Soon!

Pros: Fast
Well Built

I have used two 8GB Pico drives on well over 300 separate computers with no problems, whatsoever.

Cons: The keychain it comes with is somewhat weak. I ended up using 0.32" braided steel cable (swaged) to make a loop. I have yanked on the loop for years with no problems and no damage.

Other Thoughts: Tested on USB 2.0 controller (NVIDIA nForce 520):

HD Tach 3.0.4.0:
Read: 35 MB/s (Average)
Burst: 22.9 MB/s
Random Access: 0.6ms

ATTO Disk Benchmark:
Write: 10 MB/s Max
Read: 23.5 MB/s Max

4 out of 5 eggsGood Value

Pros: Small, solid construction, fast. Good price for storage capacity and performance. No moving parts, no cap, decent keychain and pendant.

Cons: Gets hot. Can be inserted backward. For example, if you're trying to insert it into the back of a computer blind, and you know where the USB ports are, but not their orientation. This key doesn't allow you to "go by feel"

Other Thoughts: I read some other reviews about the case coming apart. I can't see how this could happen. It is very solid, has almost no flex to it, and is cased in metal!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Well

Pros: Very small, seemed very fast. Low-priced.

Cons: Very small, easy to lose. Gets really hot.

Other Thoughts: I like it. It barely sticks out the side of my netbook, so it doesn't snag on anything. It is a tight fit, and as such the USB port scratched up the metal case a bit, no biggie.

Buy it if you care about size, like me.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome little USB drive

Pros: -This thing is unbelievably small
-Nice looking
-Solid quality feels very solid
-Plenty of space
-Fast speeds
Unlike another reviewer I haven't had any problem getting this drive to fit in any USB plug. I have so far tried it on five or six machines, the finish has some wear because of the sliding in, but every USB connector on every drive I have ever had did the same thing. It is sized exactly like other traditional drives (connectors)

Cons: -Only 14Gb not 15 like I expected
-Small so it would be all too easy to misplace if not put on a key chain or something similar
-Shiny surface may scratch easily (I haven't used it long enough to know for sure, but I assume it would scratch easy)

Other Thoughts: This drive is nice and it looks great. Overall I am happy with this USB drive. I was going to get either this or the Swiss army knife drive, but they quit making the nice blue one I wanted in the knife drive so I got this one. Even though it only has 14Gb that is more than enough space for my purposes (if you need more just purchase one of the higher capacity drives of course.) It also comes with a dog tag chain but it is only big enough for a couple fingers, not suitable for a bracelet or necklace. (You can always just thread another chain through the loop or place this drive on a key chain for convenience.) This drive doesnt take up any space in my laptop sleeve, and it always impresses people. Almost everyone at my community college purchases their computer accessories from the local Wmart so when I pull stuff out like this they are all oooh and ahhh!

4 out of 5 eggsGets warm

Pros: Ridiculously small. I have my entire music collection on this thing and popped into the usb input in my car on something about as big as a thumbnail. Decent transfer speed. Metal casing seems durable

Cons: Gets warm especially when doing long transfers.

4 out of 5 eggsThis new version is faster

Pros: I had an 8GB older version of these and this one is much faster. Performance is great now.
The build if these little drives is top quality and they fit very tightly in the USB port.

Cons: The new controller doesn't play well with my Nvidia NForce 4 motherboards USB controller. This causes it to have very flaky performance although it can still usually read and write to the drive, it just takes forever. Works fine on all my other computers though.
The problem was annoying enough that I marked it down to 4 stars although I still wouldn't trade the drive for anything else.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor Design

Pros: It's small and holds a large capacity of data.

Cons: The design of this mini flash drive is extremely annoying and difficult to plug into USB connections. You need to man handle the flash drive into the USB drive and if feels like it's being forced in like a puzzle piece that doesn't fit yet you smash it in place to make it fit. Getting the thing out takes ridiculous amounts of force and I have already damaged a USB 2.0 port on my PC. I think this is the worst design I have seen yet for such an item.

Other Thoughts: Buy another flash drive. This design is bad. It did however come with a small leesh which you can attach to a key chain. That was nice and also I like the fact there is no cap to loose.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat, but second thoughts about the size

Pros: Great price for the size of the drive. Decent transfer rates when dealing with large amounts of files. Compact, durable, and virtually industructable.

Cons: I've come across a problem from time to time where it becomes a challenge to plug it into a usb port. Sometimes it goes in fine, but in other cases such as when I was copying some data from a friend's computer, you had to force it into the port as if you were trying to plug it in the wrong way. Then when I was trying to pull it out, I snapped the keychain and just wiggled it out.

Other Thoughts: I was attracted to the size both physically and logically, but now I can definately see the advantage of the regular size thumb drives. Other then that, it works great.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

Pros: This drive is super small. Installed windows 7 rc in about 25 mins. Drive is fast, and boot ready. Not sure about usb 1.1 compatibility, as i don't have any usb 1.1 ports in the house. Great flash drive :)

Cons: none
