5 out of 5 eggsNo Brainer

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Replacing old hard drives with these. Simple installation. I have had an older 64GB of this model for 2 years with no problems. This unit rates at 7.2 on Windows 7 performance meter vs 6.8 with my older drive. Not that I hold the measure up to much scrutiny, it is at least a point of reference. For instance one drive I replaced today rated at 4.6. The performance increase was noticeable and the machine felt like new again. I just purchased 3 of the 120GB recently and have already deployed them all. Not a single problem. Either you get a bad drive or it works. Not much else can go wrong. I use Acronis to clone my drives, have for 8 years. Never a problem with that. Sometimes I need to resize my partitions if I increase the size of the drive. With 35 years in the business, I can say with a strong certainty, that these are darn good drives at decent prices from a respectable manufacturer with a good track record and they stand behind their product. You won't go wrong with the Kingston brand in this size format. Remember that as drives get larger, they have more issues. Just get the size you need and use enterprise class drives for bulk storage. Cheap is not always better.

Cons: Make the package easier to open. Seriously I had to use a razor to cut open the blister packaging. You could hurt yourself trying to open it without one. I would like to see some eco-friendly packaging that is easy to open. Us old IT guys just don't have the strength anymore and I would happily recycle a nice egg carton type package of product. Product is practically flawless

Other Thoughts: This is the best upgrade you can do on an existing system hands down. It will provide the most noticeable improvement in performance for the least amount of money that you can do. Be sure before you start you have the ability to clone a hard drive, or learn how and you will be impressed. Don't complain if you don't know what you are doing because like the title of the review, this is a 'No Brainer"

5 out of 5 eggsGreat price and solid performance.

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: 1) One of the more affordable SSDs on the market; budget friendly!
2) Coming from a HDD, this is a MAJOR upgrade.
3) No lag or hiccups from day-to-day use; does not miss a step.

Cons: On paper, this SSD is not as fast and will not last as long as other brands of SSDs. SSDs will fail over time, as with any piece of technology, but that's why you should always back up your data.

Other Thoughts: As an average user, the performance to price ratio is great - can't argue with it. Of course, you do get what you pay for. May potentially upgrade to an Intel or Samsung in the future.

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: installed SSD on Mother-in-law's $299 dual core pentium laptop and it now loads faster than my $800 i5 laptop with HDD. price/gb is coming down fast.

Cons: none yet.

5 out of 5 eggsFast drive

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Threw this in an old laptop rather than buying a new one. It is like having a whole new machine. If you don't have an SSD, get one. Seriously.

Cons: Would be nice to have been twice as large for half the money.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good!

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Works good
Speeds up the system
Great price
Quality brand

Cons: Can't think of any!

Other Thoughts: Have my OS files on here, as well as a few other commonly used programs. I kept my games on my HDD, and I still notice a difference loading in because my OS load times are non existent anymore!

5 out of 5 eggsLight speed

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Easy install, with Windows 7. Simple great and works...FAST.
Windows loads and is up and running in about 10 seconds.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: As for size at least, bigger is better in the SSD department. I have the 120 GB flavor. It holds Win 7, and a few other often used programs. Definitely need an alternate drive for mass storage. I have purchased a Seagate Barracuda one TB flavor , for storing back ups, system images, and movies and songs and such. Good system.

5 out of 5 eggsKingston 120gig SSD review

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: -Fast boot
-Easy install
-Great price

Cons: -None with the drive itself but Kingston's software sucks and is pretty much useless. Samsung and intel have much better software packages but they are also up to 2x the cost.
-No sata cables or 2.5 to 3.5mm adapter

Other Thoughts: I purchased this drive as a backup SSD for my gaming system in case the Corsair SSD I had in it died. Little did I realize that my Corsair just happened to croak the day I received the Kingston in the mail - how's that for timing? I installed Windows 8.1 on it with no issues and it seems just as fast as my Corsair Neutron GTX, which is significantly more costly than the Kingston.

Be aware that the data transfer WILL BE slower than other more premium drives but you know what? IT DOESN'T MATTER. Once I got into Windows and started downloading drivers, software, etc. I noticed NO performance difference between this Kingston and other SSDs twice its cost. Even the slowest SSD will be at LEAST 10x faster than the fastest HDD, even in raid.

TLDR version: Great drive. YOU GO - YOU BUY NOW.
