4 out of 5 eggspretty good

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast, install of OS and all BIOS was quick. Startup time of computer is very quick.

Cons: Size gets used pretty quick. Make sure you only use this for the OS and programs and use a separate TB or more HD for pics movies and stuff. Also for some reason after about 3 months I turned off all power to my computer (unplugged from wall) and unplugged this SSD and plugged it back in and plugged the power back up and it blue screened on my forcing me to reinstall all the programs and OS which sucked but now it all works again

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast
easy to setup
fast

Cons: no toaster
no the fastest drive, but major improvement over hdd

Other Thoughts: upgraded my core i7 laptop with this. I wish I had done this first.

it is by far the best upgrade you can do in a PC. boot time : 12 seconds to lock screen.

very happy and will buy a second for laptop (core i5, gt635m)

2 out of 5 eggsWorked wonders, until it didn't

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: I was actually very satisfied with this device, for its price it operated smoothly, swiftly, and efficiently with no hassle for setup. Startup times for my computer never climbed higher than 20 seconds from pressing the button to using the computer.

Cons: It died after a few months without warning.

Other Thoughts: I have already submitted an RMA to kingston, so we will see how good their customer support is, but this was a disappointing punctuation to an otherwise splendid product.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Patrick,
We apologize for the inconsistency experienced with the V300 drive. If you have not recieved your RMA instructions yet, please contact us directly at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and we will get the ball rolling for you.

4 out of 5 eggsOne works, one DOA

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: As always, quick shipping from New Egg. Came as a combo pack (two for about $100). Stuck one in my Windows gaming machine as a boot drive. Boot time went from 1.5 minutes to a mere 26 seconds. Definitely a nice boost in performance.

Cons: One of the drives arrived DOA. Wanted to install it in my old(er) netbook to replace Windows XP with a Linux distro. Unable to install due to "input/output read error on /dev/sda" and unable to format it. Waiting on an RMA, hopefully it'll arrive at New Egg before return time runs out.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Value - No Failures Yet. . .

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Inexpensive, fast (compared to conventional HDDs), Kingston brand.

Cons: Somewhat slow (compared to higher end SSDs), 120GB is not a lot of space.

Other Thoughts: Buy two and run RAID0; it gains you speed and capacity - but be sure to use backup software - we like Acronis True Image. We've now got 23 of these (SV300S37A series - 60GB, 120GB, and 240GB) in service (bought the first one in Feb of 2013) and zero failures as of April 2015. <cross fingers> compared to a 16% failure rate on OCZ SSD - but that was before OCZ almost went out of business and were acquired by Toshiba.

4 out of 5 eggsdecent little ssd

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Its a SSD, Windows 7 boots in 15 seconds with an i5. good loading times, price is great for an entry into the SSD market.

Cons: Runs a little hot, fills up quickly, but then its only 120gb

Other Thoughts: I picked this up on black friday for my first pc build as a boot drive. It works for the OS and all of my basic applications. Other data, games and whatnot go on the HDD.
I have had zero issues or any notable degradation of performance in 6 months. It worked immediately to install the OS, and its nice to not have to defrag.
At this point, there are better drives available for just a little more money, but if you can catch this on sale and have not tried upgrading to a SSD drive go for it! This is easily the most notable upgrade in terms of performance with the new PC

5 out of 5 eggsDon't get just one...

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Pretty fast! I can boot Windows 8.1 in under 10 seconds. Gaming load times are all network or server lag.

Cons: I should've gotten bigger. 120GB (or even 2x 120GB) fills up fast!

Other Thoughts: 450MB max sequential read and write? That might be hard to get in real life, so I bought two and set them up in a stripe (RAID-0) and get 550MB minimum read and write! I highly recommend that for these drives.
