This review is from: TOSHIBA DT01ACA200 2TB 64MB Cache SATA 3 (6.0 Gb/S) 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Warranty return was easy once I found the correct site. I have had better luck with other drives of the same model.

Cons: I wish it would have lasted longer but drives fail sometimes, I have had better luck with other drives of the same model.

Other Thoughts: Warranty is through the website acclaim dot toshiba dot com

1 out of 5 eggsHoudini Drive just disconnects and is gone

This review is from: TOSHIBA DT01ACA200 2TB 64MB Cache SATA 3 (6.0 Gb/S) 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: The drive is fast and easy to install and use. Price good for size if it were possible to get beyond the one forth full point.

Cons: Worked without a hitch for about a year, but now it just randomly disconnects in the middle of a file save. It is completely gone from the system like it was never there. Reboot will not revive it must do Shutdown then it is back and appears alright. I have not been able to store more than about 600 GBytes on it. My system is Windows 8.1 and passes the drive with all its checks. Ran chkdsk for bad blocks and cross linked files passed without errors. Repartioned three smaller drives to check for large volumes issue but drive disconnected during copy from one partition to another. Only file loss noted with the drive is on the file being saved, learned not to cut but copy and then delete.

Other Thoughts: All the software installed on the drive functions and will attempt to put it all on another drive before I can part with it for repair. The drive caused no issues when backing it up.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth the $$

This review is from: TOSHIBA DT01ACA200 2TB 64MB Cache SATA 3 (6.0 Gb/S) 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: It works when you first get it.

Cons: Degrades over time on performance. In fact almost every physical drive I have purchased over the last 4 or so years has done the same. (ON TO SSDs, thats your best bet)
Then for some reason the toshiba finally dies just outside of the 2 Year warranty. I had it shelved for an archive and when I fired it back up, DEAD ! ! If I had noticed I would never have bought a product that cant at least stand behind their product for 3 years.

Other Thoughts: Bottom line here is Toshiba should recognize the problem and step up and replace the drive. Any other brand so far has had longer warranty which means if there is a problem, you at least get a replacement.

2 out of 5 eggsAvoid this HDD

This review is from: TOSHIBA DT01ACA200 2TB 64MB Cache SATA 3 (6.0 Gb/S) 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: The drive worked for 4 days

Cons: The drive stopped working after 5 days

Other Thoughts: I did not purchase this HDD form NewEgg. I wanted to put my games from Steam on it. It was fine for the first 3 days. I was playing my games without issue, then I woke up one morning and my BIOS displayed a S.M.A.R.T. error on drive D:\ (That's this one). All my games are gone! I have to re-download ALL of them, that's 3 weeks of downloads. WORST DRIVE I EVER BOUGHT!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drives

This review is from: TOSHIBA DT01ACA200 2TB 64MB Cache SATA 3 (6.0 Gb/S) 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: These drives are great drives. I have ordered 6 of these over the last couple of years and have had no problems. They are fast and reliable. I purchased these to replace my failing old drives in both a RAID 5 configuration and a RAID 1.

Cons: None as of yet.

Other Thoughts: I have heard of how these drives might be defective or DOA. Since I have been purchasing them NewEgg has been packing them very well in air tube containers within cardboard boxes. I work in the PC industry and these OEM drives are actually more carefully packed than some of the others I have received over the years.

1 out of 5 eggsworst drive I've ever owned

This review is from: TOSHIBA DT01ACA200 2TB 64MB Cache SATA 3 (6.0 Gb/S) 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: None

Cons: I brought 6 of these 3 for my video editing machine and 3 for my NAS. with in a month of use every one of these drives I got "current pending sector errors" that set off the SMART system. to show that the drives was unreliable. I could not believe this not all 6 drives.

After contacting Toshiba I was done there support sucked could not get to the correct support for the drives to get them replaced each person I talked too said oh you have to call this number and I would call and they said we don't handle consumer Hard drives. Over and over this is what I ran into.

Don't but them stick with WD or Samsung drives there the best I've used.

4 out of 5 eggsCheap Storage

This review is from: TOSHIBA DT01ACA200 2TB 64MB Cache SATA 3 (6.0 Gb/S) 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Speedy, but not too speedy. Quiet.

Cons: Has limitations due to it's mechanical nature

Other Thoughts: I bought this as a storage drive for my new video editing rig. It was an inexpensive way to get a couple Terabytes of storage. I would not want this to be my main drive, but for storage it works great.
