Pros: Sufficient storage capacity.

Cons: Failed after approx. 1 year of light use. I suspect the drive itself is fine.
Seagate offers to exchange the unit but no way to get the data off the drive without spending a lot of money. When you consider the cost of this drive, add in the price of additional backups or data recovery that will be necessary 12 months down the line.

Other Thoughts: -Gets hot even when serving a single client.
-Configuring was a little difficult but I only had to do it once.
-Latency was high, but streaming continuity was fine. That could be mostly due to my network and not this device, though; I am not sure.

Pros: It was easy to set up. Functioned well for a year

Cons: Disk is dead - PC doesn't recognize, Seagate discovery Software cannot find drive. Seagate Support has indicated that it's a bad drive. Too bad for the files. Seagate recovery services is willing to recover the data for a small fee of $450.

Other Thoughts: I can understand a 1 year life on a drive if it was abused, bounced and dropped, but the drive sat on a shelf by itself with plenty of circulation. I have 10 year old PC's where the drive is happily spinning away... This one just died, taking many files with it. Of course it is the only backup that I have so I'm looking for plan B to recover data

Pros: None yet!

Cons: Extremely Unreliable! I got on the phone with Seagate's rep. After over an hour the drive was up and running. Several days late, flashing green light on the Seagate Central. I've unplugged and plugged it back in, which is all you can do, and the same thing, time after time, flashing green light and no access to the drive at all. It's JUNK!

Other Thoughts: DO NOT BUY ONE!

Pros: Customer Support came through for me on this product. I called them and after 1hr & 15 mins of being on the phone with them, it appears the drive is up and is maintaining connectivity. I did not see an option to delete or change my previous reviews so wanted to leave this one.

Cons: had previous connectivity issues. There are apparently issues with the software. Dont use it. Just use Windows to access the drive.

Other Thoughts: I appreciate Wayne at Seagate for fixing the issues I previously had. I apologize to Seagate for the two previous bad reviews!

Pros: Lots of storage, that you cannot access

Cons: Very, very unreliable! Consistently does not work. Once in a blue moon it may connect for a brief period of time.
And, upon writing my other review I received a reply from Seagate that they've created a support case and give you a number to call. However, you sit on hold, me now at 25 minutes, with no estimated wait time or any information whatsoever. That's great that you just copy and paste a response to these reviews, but providing zero customer support is unacceptable. I WANT A REFUND AND YOU TAKE YOUR JUNK PRODUCT BACK!

Other Thoughts: Stop wasting everyone's time by replying to these reviews as if you are going to provide support, and then provide NO SUPPORT!

Pros: It worked when it worked

Cons: This thing is the most unreliable drive I've ever owned. I've had mine for less than 6 months. All of the sudden it started blinking green and will no longer connect to the internet. I've unplugged it and hooked it back up again, and the same thing continually happens. DO NOT PUT IMPORTANT FILES ON THIS DRIVE!

Other Thoughts: I'll be contacting Newegg soon for a refund or return...

Pros: Connects to the network without too much hassle. streams pictures and videos to apple devices through the app just fine while connected to the home network. Is accessible through the network by way of a shared drive. I like the concept of remote access through the internet.

Cons: Seems to have died. It won't connect to the network anymore. I cannot reset it either. It is not accessible through the app, the network, or the internet. This is a great concept, but it HAS to last longer than a year or two. Also, the remote access through the internet is pretty slow :(

Pros: 2TB of storage. USB printer support. Looks good.

Cons: Not blazing fast. UI is not intuitive.

Pros: Installed easily. Streams everything I put on it (Movies & TV Shows) to my android phone (Verizon Galaxy S3) flawlessly! That is something I have been looking for for years. Backups work well, as expected. Internet connectivity also works great. I've connected to it from work several times and it is always there and accessible. Transfer speeds on LAN are very good: a 2TB video goes through in less than a minute on a GB Ethernet connection. It has great ventilation! Every external drive I've ever seen is like a little oven box with maybe one side vented... This thing has mesh with dust screen on the entire top and bottom and stays nice and cool so it will also be easy to vacuum clean when dust builds up. Awesome design.

Cons: PS3 can not see the media. It sees the drive and folders but does not see the media. Maybe if I do some research I will find a solution but for now as a PS3 media server it doesn't work. My Roku finds some of the videos but not all of them and that is a Roku defect (one of the many.) Everything that does stream through Roku looks and sounds great though.
Transfer of data / streaming over the internet is abysmal. Nothing I have tried will stream over internet and requires download which seems to take about about a minute per megabyte, sometimes much longer, sometimes less. Terrible for roaming access to your media library. A 1.2GB movie took almost three hours to download to my phone from a wi-fi connection at my office which has N (which my phone used) wi-fi and has a 30MBps connection. It is definitely the Seagate...

Other Thoughts: For PS3 just use PMS and a different hard drive/ NAS/ whatever. That works. This doesn't. The Roku does stream all of the videos it finds beautifully though so the Seagate Central is working great in that regard, but for some reason the files I shared with my Roku through the PC just work whereas some files on this drive don't even get recognized... Not exactly a seamless user experience, but the best is saved for last: This thing paired with my Galaxy S3 via the Seagate app and streams every video on it regardless! That is a life saver when the kids go to bed and I need to hit the back porch to toast a stogie and catch up on whatever I'm watching!
Bottom line: This is another failed attempt at what everyone wants to call "Cloud Storage." This thing isn't even close to what Google Drive or Drop Box can do when it comes to actually sharing data over the internet. It is very nice to be able to see and download your own files, but this is not going to turn your home computer into your own personal Netflix. It just doesn't do that.

Pros: I now have two hooked to network. I have not had any issues with Seagate on my network so far. But networking is one of my skills. I truly think using the correct software makes a huge difference. I use two, Acronis true image and NTI 5.5

Cons: The software that comes with the product is useless other than install. After that I disable it.

Other Thoughts: Acronis is very good software that I use almost everyday. But reviews on the software on Newegg is horrible. I'm very happy with my set up. It saved me today on recovery on HD that I mess up on. It was my bad too.
