1 out of 5 eggsPoor monitor

Pros: Cheap price for an IPS monitor

Cons: After a few months of very light use, the upper left corner turned an orange hue and I can see distortion on about 25% of the screen. Also, it makes a noticeable hum or electric whine noise when it's in standby. Also, there's no way to turn off the blinking red power light when it is in standby mode. Very annoying at night.

Other Thoughts: It was cheap. The headache and cost to ship this back and get it repaired may not be worth it. I'll never buy LG again (2nd time I've had a LG display that failed).

3 out of 5 eggsBeautiful Picture - Mine made a noise

Pros: Very beautiful picture - great colors, good sharpness.

Matte finish

Very thin

IPS display - great viewing angles - for an awesome price (I paid low-$100s).

Cons: Main con: a high-pitched whirring noise -- PLEASE see 'Other Thoughts' - I returned it because of this.

Other cons -- None of these really bothered me; just confirming what others have pointed out:

The stand *is* wobbly BUT it really doesn't bother me at all. If your desk is sturdy, the wobbling is minimal.

The power button *does* flash brightly in standby, but it's not too bad to just press the button one more time to turn it off.

The power adapter is a "wall wart." Again, didn't bother me but it's worth pointing out.

No DVI cable included - only VGA.

Other Thoughts: I was all ready to give this monitor an awesome review. It's got an great picture in my opinion. I think it looks stylish, and, I mean, it's an IPS display for a really low price! I would have been perfectly happy with it, but one thing prevented that:

When it was in standby mode, and when it is turned off but plugged-in, it was making a high pitched whirring noise. The sound was at the upper limit of my hearing -- high pitched enough to where it seems only young people can hear it. At times, it was faint; at other times, it seemed louder; but at all times, it was super irritating -- it was in my bedroom so I could hear the whirring noise all night. I tried fixes that supposedly work for other monitors -- adjusting the brightness, changing the refresh rate, etc. -- but none of them worked.

Now it might be that I got a defective monitor. I wish I could confirm that by getting a replacement, but Newegg is currently out of stock. Or it might be that all of these monitors do this. Obviously there's no way for me to know. But I figured it was important to write this, because the first thing I did was re-check the newegg reviews, and I didn't see one person mention this. If you have this problem, now you know someone else had it too.

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful monitor, not sure what others are saying about HDMI not working

Pros: Nice size, good variation in color (you can change it in the menu), stays pretty shiny and clean, beautiful picture in games

Cons: Colors are off when arrived, DVI that it came with sucked

Other Thoughts: I received this monitor last year during summer, after setting it up the colors were kinda off as i stated but were easily fixed from the menu at the bottom, you can change the brightness very easily also.
My only problem the past year with this monitor was the DVI that it came with was pretty wonky, i guess i just got a bad one cause it would always give me red pixels and make my monitor blink, etc. I recently bought a new HDMI cable and it works perfectly, no problems at all. So I'm not sure what the other reviewers are saying about their HDMI not working, or DVI being better...? Overall very happy with my purchase, especially during the time which it was on sale for ~150

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitors

Pros: Bright, No Dead Pixels, Buttons are easy to turn off, easily mounted to stands, etc.

Cons: Nothing

Other Thoughts: Have these configured in a 4 monitor stand I use for work, do everything I'm looking for, can't really complain about anything. I would highly recommend and plan on buying two more to replace the older LCDs when they need replacing.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Monitor for price!

Pros: Very thin, colors look great, just takes a bit of color config but other than that its great! I don't know what all the buzz of the black box from HDMI problem is, because I never experienced that out of the box, whether I used my PS3 hooked up or my PC hooked up. Its very light weight and easy to use.

Cons: It doesn't come with DVI/HDMI cables, and for a bit more (or same price) I can get a monitor with them included but this one was a bit cheaper. The stand isn't sturdy, so when I'm typing, my monitor wobbles around from time to time.

It also took some messing around with Windows 7 so I could get my colors perfectly, it was through the display settings. Right click desktop, resolutions, advanced then color management and then you have to go through color calibration. Out of the box, the monitor wasn't good color wise. When I was viewing photos and changing wallpapers, I always had a green tint to it (although everything else appeared fine). After color calibration, colors looked fine so the monitor is good.

Overall, its good, just needs some color calibration at the time of setup or it was just my display. It also needs to have a better stand, because my monitor shouldn't be wobbling around when I'm typing on my G710+.

Other Thoughts: Needs to include a DVI/HDMI cable, nobody uses a VGA/DSUB cable so its better to include a DVI/HDMI cable even if it does ramp up the price a slight bit.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good

Pros: reasonably priced, still working just fine after after a year

Cons: Power button can be a little sluggish

Other Thoughts: it doesn't really have any fancy bells-and-whistles features, but it's a perfectly serviceable monitor at a good price

4 out of 5 eggsRight size, if that's the size you need

Pros: Right size for that desktop - it just fits. Looks good.

Cons: Big con is that warranty is only one year according to the paperwork that shipped in the box, not three years as stated here. I took an egg off for this, though that's probably more than it deserves.

Minor con is the wall-wart style power supply.

Other Thoughts: It's not a great monitor, only 6 bits physical resolution, but the dithering seems to be well done, and it's good value for the money. It's about 102 dpi.

Pros: This monitor had a pretty good picture with DVI. The text was a little blurry with HDMI but I believe that to be the fault of my own janky HDMI cable. I found a different one and the text was a little better. Not as good as it was on DVI though. This may have been a defect. I was able to remove the black bars though. (See other thoughts)

Cons: I wasn't a big fan of the colors. However, I have a duel monitor setup and it didn't match my old monitor (A LG of a very similar line from about a year ago that had a more preferred feel to it) so I am biased in that respect.

I am not a fan of the way the screen was lit either. It cast light from the side of the screen. You could really only tell on solid black screens but if you have minimalistic dark wallpapers it gets annoying.

A pixel died on me yesterday. I have owned this for about a week. I sent it back for a refund because I am wary of more pixels dying. It may have just been a defective monitor. Mass production tends to do that.

Other Thoughts: The black bars around the screen when using HDMI is due to a incorrect setting in overscan/underscan. This can be adjusted on both the monitor and through your graphics drivers. Start with the graphics drivers when fixing this. The drivers will provide more flexibility than the settings built into the monitor. I can't believe people are complaining about it in these reviews. It's as if they have never heard of google... or HDMI. This is consistently a thing with HDMI. It happens on all monitors.
