4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: * 144hz refresh rate makes for smooth gameplay in video games. Helps reduce screen tearing greatly!

* 1ms response time gives an advantage in competitive gaming.

* Matte bezel instead of glossy.

* One of the most competent OSDs I've ever used. Easy to navigate!

* Adjustable height on the monitor.

* Ability to turn off the logo most companies find necessary to include for power-on.

Cons: * Colors could be better.

* The "Blur Reduction" feature makes the monitor too dark.

Other Thoughts: A fine gaming monitor. If you're into competitive FPSs or just love the high end equipment you can buy for gaming, get this monitor.

The default color calibration is absolutely terrible, but with the proper tweaking you'll have the display looking nice. The colors aren't the best I've seen on a monitor, but they're certainly not the worst. Being a TN panel, it's understandable.

As stated, the "Blur Reduction" feature make the panel too dark to use for gaming. You can try cranking the brightness up, but it did not help me in the slightest. There is a website called BlurBusters that has a BenQ approved application that is supposed to help you tune the feature, but it said my monitor did not meet the proper prerequisites. One of those having to do with your monitor coming equipped with the version 2 of the firmware. I checked the Service Menu on the monitor and it reported having version 2, so I don't know what the problem is.

Also, and this might just be me, but the Blur Reduction feature didn't seem to do it's job anyway. I didn't notice a decrease in the motion blur.

All in all, it's a fantastic monitor for gaming. The 144hz with the 1ms response time is simply amazing for gaming, and you just can't beat it, nor go back to 60hz.

3 out of 5 eggsFirst Impressions

Pros: Fast and smooth, as advertised. Decent design, decent selection of on board features. Easy to set up. No Dead Pixels(yay!)
The 144 does seem to make a difference, which is nice, and I experienced very quirks that I was getting before.

Cons: The default calibration is TRASH. It will shock when you first turn it on. It's waaaaaaaaaaay off. Very bright and washed out and initially a bit tedious to get adjusted right. The cable holder on back of the stand is pretty flimsy, but that's a minor gripe.

Other Thoughts: I found that a combination of on board adjustments, and calibration through Windows 7 own available tools was the "magic" combo I needed. The ICC profiles I found made little to no difference to what I had already adjusted myself, however the windows adjustments made a very noticeable difference and got my colors and picture to an overall much more acceptable state. The issue I take with this(and why I deduct eggs) is that there is virtually no documentation in the monitor going over any of this....and that seems like a pretty big oversight to me. Also, the default state could(and should) be much better than it is. Seriously, it's shocking the first time you turn it on, and I could have done without the scare.
Also, they ship this is the manufacturer's box and UPS proceeds to just leave it on the front porch where anyone can walk up and take it. I'm not sure this is the best way to handle shipping expensive computer parts. Overall I like it so far though.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat an upgrade

Pros: 144hz and 1ms, for me the two most important specs of a gaming monitor is refresh rate and response time. Going from a 60hz to this was night and day difference. Game play is silky smooth and shipped with firmware v2.0!

Cons: colors aren't as good as a high end ips but colors are still very good for a monitor of this design, especially when compared to monitors of the same design.

Other Thoughts: if your looking for a monitor of this style at this size I highly suggest this model

1 out of 5 eggsdefective on arrival

Pros: silky smooth, love the refresh rate. Night and day from 60hz

Cons: Plugged it in and I was getting red lines all over my screen. Blobs of pixels scattered everywhere based on the color that was currently on the screen. Some more visible based on what color was shown. Waiting on replacement or refund.

5 out of 5 eggsFavorite gaming monitor

Pros: Has 144hz, pulsing back light feature, 1ms RT, 0.001 frame of input lag, connects easily to my pc and ps4, and quality stand.

Cons: Questionable design that some people may not like and doesn't have slim bezels, but nothing that affects performance though. Because of the nature of TN, colors will look washed out in comparison to a premium grade IPS screen.

Other Thoughts: I went through 3 asus screens before buying this one, and all the asus screens I bought were delivered to me with dead pixels and was unhappy with their quality control, much happier with benq. I bought mine from because it was $40 cheaper there at the time and only paid $230 shipped :)

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Bright, vivid, doesn't skip a beat

Cons: Slow "warm up" from sleep mode and from off, I have a second monitor so that I can get into BIOs.

Other Thoughts: If my wife would let me get a second and third I would in a heart beat.

Pros: *Great looking monitor
*Full 144 Hz capability
*Strobe Light for increased Clarity
*Adjustable color/lighting/profile settings
*Compatible with BlurBuster software

Other Thoughts: Great monitor overall, games at 144fps look amazing, good color saturation.

Mine came with the firmware V2, so no worries about that.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome Upgrade

Pros: Extremely clear image, very fast response, super smooth gameplay.

Cons: Your GPU's temp's will go up with the higher refresh rate. The panel is extremely bright. The color's are slightly washed out due to it being a TN panel.

Other Thoughts: I'm ready to buy another one. But if you're into photo editing, higher than 1080p resolution, or are a freak about the colors being absolutely perfect; you may want to skip this one. Other than that it's perfect. The color's are much better in game than on the desktop. The response time is huge in FPS games. I want three. And I haven't even tried the 3D yet.
