4 out of 5 eggsGood display, can be found cheaply used

Pros: I got mine used elsewhere. For the price you can find them used, these are top notch displays. Much better than an AOC IPS display I had before.

Cons: On my model, there is a lot of light bleed from the edges on black screens though. This could be because it is used.

3 out of 5 eggsOK, but poor color

Pros: It works reliably. It can rotate, stand works as expected (although it falls over more easily than older displays like the HP L1740 or LA1905wg).

Cons: The color on these isn't good at all - HP's consumer grade monitors are a good deal better (and I'm not talking glossy vs matte). I've seen similarly bad color (to the E221's) on other LED-backlit TN panels (but those were cheaper). I actually thought there was something wrong with these at first - I think they look worse than the L1740's and LA1905wg's these have been replacing around here.

I've also had this register as an audio device when used on Displayport (Intel HD4600) - just to be clear, it has no audio capabilities whatsoever that I can find. HDMI seems to do this regardless, but Displayport usually seems to show audio only if the device can actually handle it. I've gotten support calls related to this, though it's easy to change the default audio device and fix it.

Finally, it seems like these oversharpen the image a little too much by default. Older HP displays seem to give a setting from 1 to 5, default 4. These do 1 to 6, default 5 - but 4 actually looks about right. Also, way too bright (as usual) out of the box. I keep turning it down a bit on all the ones I deploy, and no one ever complains that they're too dim.

Other Thoughts: I've worked with a school district that deployed these in mass.

3 out of 5 eggsAcceptable

Pros: Having this rotated to portrait is perfect for my programming homework! The screen is large enough to fit my IDE, debugger, and test run windows simultaneously. The resolution is great, very crisp. The two usb ports are also handy. I keep my mouse/laptop usb hooked up to the monitor, so I don't have to worry about unplugging them (or losing the hub) when I take my laptop elsewhere.

Cons: No HDMI port?! That was probably my mistake. I just assumed that my laptop would be compatible with whichever monitor I chose. I think the lack of HDMI port may be why I got such a good deal on it. I just got a HDMI-VGA adapter, and it works perfectly now.

Other Thoughts: Sometimes when I right click on a link in the monitor, the menu opens in my laptop screen. That may be my stupidity, though. I have to ask my IT friend if there is a way to fix that. :P
