1 out of 5 eggsSUPER disappointed with mfr

Pros: When this was working, it worked well and was an imporvement over my old Docsys 2.0 modem.

Cons: TERRIBLE support from Arris, the company that has taken over this part of the Motorola business. After a month, the modem started resetting frequently (average 30 minutes), causing major disruption. Our ISP helped diagnose that the problem was hardware -- the log showed a power reset. The cable connection was fine. I called Arris tech support and got an agent with VERY LOW tech competence. I explained what was going on, and he simply had me go back through the signal strength readings, and ask if I had reset the device to factory defaults (I had, during the diagnosis with the ISP tech guy). He put me on hold, and came back saying that we had exhausted his ability to diagnose what was going on. I explained what the device log was saying, and he tried to tell me that these messages were all from the ISP. I explained that if I unplugged the device and plugged it back in again, I'd see the same messages in the log. He said he had no information about any device log messages, and could not use this information to diagnose anything. Incompetent! He offered to have me ship the device back to Arris in CO at my own expense, and they would, after some number of business days, reship me a replacement. Maddening!! I'm going to replace this thing with some other kind of modem, and would recommend you not buy one.

2 out of 5 eggsDoesn't do over 100Mbps w TWC

Pros: what's well for what it is

Cons: Specs say it does over 300Mbps but due to a contract agreement with time warner, it isn't allowed to do more than 100 down.

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: None

Cons: After a few months, drops, slows, I need to reset it at least once a day, Greatly disappointed. TWC might be trying to choke it with their own updates but I think this is unlikely. Just a poor piece of equipment.

Other Thoughts: I was told it was my wireless. Really? I am hard wired. Some techs need new brains.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Plugged it in, called Time Warner with Mac ID and it was working in about 5 minutes. It has been on and working ever since. Speed seems fine etc.

Cons: It should cost less.

Other Thoughts: Time Warner raised their cable modem rental to $8/month it seemed logical to buy a cable modem.

There was a package deal for TP-Link wireless router for free. Free is good. I sold the router for $19 to a friend.

5 out of 5 eggsWhite Version; Works Great, But Hot

Pros: Swallows TWC Extreme internet feed, puts out signal without drama. Hardwired to ASUS RT-AC68U router, which is hardwired to TV and wirelessly connects to PC and two Apple devices. No bogging with three users simultaneously.

Cons: Runs hot. Lights on front panel are a little bright, but not offensively so.

Other Thoughts: Purchased JUN2014 for new TWC install, replacing satellite service. TWC set it up properly (wow!), and it's run seamlessly ever since. Very smooth.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat modem the last two years, but wont do 300meg down

Pros: Great speeds up to 109 meg down and 7.5 meg UP. Solid, never needed a reboot or restart in the last two years that it's been in use, powered on 24 hours a day!

Cons: Will NOT handle 300 meg down speeds. I asked time warner cable why I Was not getting the new 300meg download speeds they said everyone was getting, since I seemed to be hitting a brick wall at 109meg down.

They said this one wont work at up to 300meg down and I had to upgrade to the better model.

I have it 5 eggs even though it does NOT really do 300 meg down, even though it says it will. It may be TWC Texas does not support this modem at 300meg.

Other Thoughts: Overall, if you wont need 300 meg download speeds, this modem is typical solid motorola quality, no problems.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks well enough

Pros: Works with Cox internet at their highest speed.

Cons: Several times a year it'll drop the connection. To restore service you have to unplug the power, let it sit for 10 seconds, then plug the power back in.

Other Thoughts: Their previous generation of surfboard modems worked flawlessly. Seems like they've taken a step backwards.
