5 out of 5 eggsSurfboard SB6141 - Comcast

Pros: Has worked very well with Comcast ISP. No problems with D-Link router (DIR-825) and Ooma telephone. Speed did increase over using the Comcast supplied modem/wifi router/phone box. Highly recommend!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Very easy to setup with Comcast. This modem is recommended on Comcast website.

4 out of 5 eggsNo Complaints

Pros: Had this for just about a year. I just got tired of paying T/W's rental fee. No known disconnects attributable to the modem. Copes with power flickers and outages nicely. Quick re-synchronization. Doesn't get overly warm in upright position. Relatively easy to configure.

Cons: Lights are excessively bright, no way to turn them down or off. Would not want this in a bedroom. Could use a top power switch (like all of these devices) so that re-synch could be done without fiddling with rear jack.

Other Thoughts: Connections will be lost occasionally, but this seems to have more to do with T/W Cable than the modem. Requires power off to re-synch.

5 out of 5 eggsGood speed

Pros: Replaced an older DOCSIS 2.0 modem with this and my download speed went from approx. 16Mbps to 60 Mbps.

Other Thoughts: Waited too long to upgrade my router to DOCSIS 3.0.

5 out of 5 eggsA great modem!

Pros: Super Fast, Reliable/Stable, multiple upstream and downstream channel bonding, built-in Gigabit, built-in MoCa filter, pays for itself over time

Cons: The lights on the front are too bright, no way to do consumer firmware upgrades/updates by yourself (though firmware updates can be pushed by your cable provider)

Other Thoughts: This modem is just outstanding! Super fast right out of the box and ultra reliable. I paired this with my e4200 which is running Tomato and I am extremely impressed at the speed/performance I am getting. This replaced a cable company rented modem which was costing me 4 dollars a month. Within about a year, this modem will pay for itself, and it's faster and more reliable on top of that benefit. I like the built-in gigabit and moca filters, as both really help me to get the most out of my connection (I use several moca devices around the house so I can get faster than wireless speeds without the need for dedicated wiring). This box was a great investment and I can't believe I waited this long to get one. The only downside to this box is that the lights are quite bright, so you may need to cover them with electrical tape if you sit in close proximity to this at night. Also, you can't manually update the firmware (but your cable provider can). Buy this box, you won't regret it.

5 out of 5 eggsmodem

Pros: Motorola makes a good modem.

Cons: Had to call Comcast to register it and get it activated, but that is not really a con.

Other Thoughts: Had to call Comcast
Besides my account information I
gave them the following information:
MAC address
Modem Model number
Serial Number
This information is in very tiny print on the bottom of the box.
Have this information ready, before you call Comcast, and you will not get frustrated. They also want you to bypass your router if you use one.(connect direct to the computer), to make sure the service is working without other network issues.

5 out of 5 eggsUpgd from Comcast SB5120

Pros: So far, everything an upgrade from DOCSIS 1.1 to DOCSIS 3.0 is supposed to be, given the service pipe delivers as promised.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Great Newegg deal, quick shipping.

5 out of 5 eggsHuge speed increase

Pros: I replaced my comcast supplied modem/router with this unit. Comcast self-activation worked without a hitch and my download speeds went from 15-20Mbps to just shy of 120Mbps!

Cons: none as of yet, but will update if i come across any

Other Thoughts: i bought this via another website as a refurb unit and had no problem with activating with comcast

2 out of 5 eggsDefective Product + Slow Cust Service = Bad Formula

Pros: N/A

Cons: Received a defective product that has cost our business with time! We tested it thoroughly with 3 wifi routers including a the Nighthawk it came bundled with. Every other Router worked with it. Newegg's customer service could only furnish an RMA# that takes even longer to get a replacement. its 2014 and still have to validate our claims? Good thing I purchased thru AMEX and I can just outright void the transaction.
