1 out of 5 eggsAvoid this modem

Pros: It worked for three months

Cons: This modem has a really cheap ethernet controller. I had it connected to a surge protector that protected both coaxial and power against surges. One power outage and the controller went dead. Windows would prompt me that a cable was unplugged. Nothing else electronic in my house suffered any kind of damage so I can only assume that the controller just failed.

Other Thoughts: Possibly just a bad modem. I called Motorola tech support and I got a recording saying this call cannot be completed and it hung up. So I'm out $100.

5 out of 5 eggsOne year usage

Pros: Like many reviews here, just connect this cable modem in, hook up your PC and/or home router and you are off an running. I've ran this cable modem for the last year and its not missed a beat. I've had to move three times and each time it was just as easy.
I use an older link sys home router with DD-WRT (linux) on it and between these two items I NEVER have to reboot anything for Internet access. Couldn't say that for the original cable modem Time Warner provided some years back.

Cons: Lights are kinda bright.

Other Thoughts: You could do much worse, this cable modem works and works well.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cable modem

Pros: Just plugged it in, called to have it activated, and it works. Faster than the old cable owned modem. Mostly seen in faster loading of individual items, like email images. So far no problems, works flawlessly out of the box.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Payback in 14 months.

1 out of 5 eggsNot so good

Pros: It's small, easy to install and setup.

Cons: Slow as can be! I have an older model (SB5101) and I went to test my speed with this unit. I got about 3Mbps download and about 6Mbps upload. With the older model I got 29Mbps download and 6Mbps upload. Clearly there is something wrong with the one I got.

Other Thoughts: It could have just been a bad unit and had some reason for being so slow. I only wanted to upgrade to a better cable modem because even though the older model I have is still better as far as speed, it gives out now and then and I believe it's near its life's end. I'll have to look elsewhere for a better modem.

5 out of 5 eggsBest cable modem, period.

Pros: This is the best cable modem out there, period.

Dont listen to the 5 star wannabes, and of course, the tech challenged who love to type but know nothing of the subject they are typing about. And at this discounted price and the free router thrown in, this is a superb deal for the absolute number one modem.

Cons: there are none.

this is the best cable modem on earth, period.

Other Thoughts: Here is a cheers to the ingnorants, especially the goofball that is claiming the modem is incompatible with TWC. I have been using this modem on TWC for over 2 years, and in two different cities.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Modem

Pros: Whenever you're dealing with modems or networking equipment, experiences will always vary based on a million different factors. This modem wont speed your internet up, but rather if you have a faulty modem (like I did) it may give you the advertised speed you want.

For me, we had the stock modem that came with our Charter internet for a few years. It was avertised at 30Mbps and Speedtest.net would yield about 25Mbps. We're getting upgraded to 60Mbps and I knew that modem couldn't handle it. Also, when I would be gaming and everyone else in the house would be on their systems, the stock modem would reset itself - super annoying.

Installation was easy - I just plugged it in and called Charter, gave them the MAC address and we were in business. Speedtest.net now yields 31MBps (faster than advertised) and my upload is 2mb faster (to 4Mbps) than on the stock modem. Modem hasn't reset itself once despite my testing with the Xbox 360 gaming, my PC gaming, and two other laptops on Netflix.

This modem is expensive but it will take whatever you throw at it for the next few years. Plus, if you're renting a modem from your cable company this IS better and will pay for itself.

A+, 10/10, 5 Eggs. Certainly recommend.

Cons: None. 100% as advertised.

5 out of 5 eggsFast modem with one caveat

Pros: This is a good and fast cable modem for the price.

Cons: With the factory intalled firmware, my modem had trouble maintaining fast download speeds, though signal levels were great.

My ISP pushed a new firmware to it and all troubles went away.

You will not be able to update the firmware yourself, only your ISP wil be able to do that when it comes time and if there is a new firmware.

2 out of 5 eggs10 Month Review

Pros: Worked great initially for 9 months (TWC area), Central NY.

Cons: 9 Months later...Internet worked intermittently and very, very slow. Replaced SB6141 with TWC device and All is good.
Boxed the SB6141 up and called for Warranty/RMA. Arris wanted me to hook the SB6141 back up to troubleshoot. I said I followed the troubleshooting instructions to the "T" along with resets and unplugging power. Didn't matter, guess I'm going to eat this one. I will wait a year until I see some better reviews.

5 out of 5 eggsLove It (TWC Customer)

Pros: Peak well above my Ultimate Speeds with TWC, maxing around 58Mbps Down and 5.8 Up. The modem states its bonded both up and down and I'm running on the Gig switch connected to a NetGear AC1900, so I've maxed out my performance. It's simple to set up and get running. I haven't heard about Time Warner cutting compatibility, so I'm not sure if they are still accepting them, but I've had mine linked with their service for over a year so it still works for now.

Cons: None that I'm aware of. Performs flawlessly. No spikes in transfer rates. No lag. No random resets.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a solid platform and to save yourself from modem fees, this is where it's at.

1 out of 5 eggsRidiculously Bright Blue LED's

Pros: It works. Connects Comcast coax to CAT5 ethernet cable running to an Airport wireless router.

Cons: Super bright, pulsating, blue LED's. At night they light up multiple rooms.

Why does this thing need to have so many, so bright, LED's? One small dark red LED to indicate power would be just fine. Five bright LED's, one of which pulses constantly are unnecessary and ANNOYING.

Other Thoughts: Many cable modems are available that will do their job. Pick one that's less obnoxious about it.
