4 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Custom sizing, throttle, buttons easily reachable, arrow keys. Can be used resting on your leg (with the contoured feet attached). It is wireless.

Cons: Rudder twist doesn't work properly for every game tried, especially the Air combat:SW where the rudder is stuck in left rotation so whether you are dropping bombs or stuck rudder full left. DOES NOT work on Ace Combat AH (well it does, but not the LB+RB combination to enter dogfighter mode is impossible to get right)

Other Thoughts: I only paid $14.99 for this used/open box at local reseller. I would not pay much more than that, unless it were brand new. Overall, for what I paid for it, it is a good investment for Hawx/Hawx2, JASF, and Ace combat 6 and the like, just make sure the controls in the game can map/translate properly to the buttons on the flight stick OR make sure the game officially has a controller setting for flight sticks.

3 out of 5 eggsSo Close

Pros: Terrific feel and button layout.

I really don't have a gripe about the price. I was happy with it when I pulled it out of the box. It didn't feel overly flimsy to me. It is most certainly a "toy", however, and if you have expectations of a realistic flight experience you will be disappointed.

Cons: Stick travel is just too far before control is activated for it to be used effectively even after you acclimate yourself to the button layout.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my 10 year old son because he was heavy into Hawx and Blazing Angels... secretly I couldn't wait to get my hands on this myself. When it arrived it looked to be everything we were hoping for. Then we started to play with it and the shortcomings quickly emerged.

I think that if you started playing a game that was new to you with this stick (meaning you never played the game previously with any other controller) it might be great. But after having learned all the buttons and commands on the standard controller this stick slows EVERYTHING down. On Hawx, for instance, with the standard controller I would regularly be snapping the flight controller back from one side to the other and up and down (rolling, diving and climbing the aircraft). Trying to do the same with this stick is just too sluggish and ineffective, unfortunately. You just lose too much maneuverability. By the time you have the stick pitched over to one side to engage a roll in one direction you are already wishing you were 3-4 maneuvers ahead. Very frustrating and most disappointing. If they would just tighten up the action on this thing a bit so you don't have to move the stick so far to engage the action it would probably be a lot of fun.

Learning all new button/control layouts for various games is a chore and if you have already done so for a given game I wouldn't bother trying to integrate this into your arsenal. You'll only be disappointed. If you are starting a brand new game and this controller is the only way you play it then it will probably be a lot of fun. But I suspect that, over time, you'll realize that you would be much more effective in the game with the standard controller just because it affords SOOOOOO much quicker reaction time.

With all that said, I don't regret buying it. I still use it sometimes just because it feels so cool. But I only use it when I'm just flying for fun, repeating old levels. I don't bother to pick it up when I'm actually trying to progress in the game.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth it

Pros: •Looks good
•Nice button layout

Cons: •Spring tension is set way too high
•Stick feels flimsy/loosely connected
•Overpriced proprietary peripheral

Other Thoughts: My old attack3 is about $100 cheaper and feels more solidly built than this thing. Its not as pretty, but at least it works.
