Wireless headsets can be so liberating but they only work on regular phones. Well, not any more: what the CS50-USB does for regular phones, the CS50-USB does for your VoIP “soft phone”! You can be up to two hundred feet away from your desk and still receive and end calls as if you were right there.

This 900 MHz system helps keep your conversations secure, and the eight hours of talk time mean that you can go an entire shift without charging or swapping batteries. Fast charge times (1.5 hours for 80% charge; three hours for 100%) nicely complement the noise-canceling microphone, the ability to control volume or even mute the mike, and the headset can be worn four different ways.

Whether you're a hands-on supervisor or your job simply won't let you stay at your desk, this headset can free you to be where you need to be and still stay close to the phone. Don't miss out!

5 out of 5 eggsBest Headset for Skype!!!

Pros: I've been using this headset for the past 3 years in my office. I have bought my employees this as well. It is not good as a wired headset but compared to a wireless there is non other that comes even close. Our headsets get used about 6-8 hours a day 5 days a week . Charge it over night it will last us the whole day. This is worth every penny if you are planning on using it heavily. Problem I had with wired headsets is I kept yanking it of the USB by accident because i move around so much. I had to buy a new one almost every 2-3 months and they were about $50 a pop. On this i've only had to replace the headband which is very comfortable and secure! I really have to say i've maybe had 5-6 different headsets b4 and this has got to be the best one. I paid almost $300++ back then and glad to see they've finally lowered the price on it. Def a good deal!

Cons: i really dont think there is any.

5 out of 5 eggsThis is my favorite headset

Pros: This headset it a professional office quality headset and it is the only thing I would use with Skype.

Cons: You need to be computer savy on setting it up and using it. Must return to base after use so you don't burn the battery out.

Other Thoughts: This is the only headset I would by... I have owned 3 of them.

2 out of 5 eggsBuzzing in the background

Pros: First, let me say that I am a hardcore headset user. I am always trying to find the headset that meets certain expectations:
- comfortable if worn for long periods
- sounds clear to me...which usually means an in-ear ear piece
- sounds clear to the person on the other end of the conversation...which usually means a boom microphone
- long battery life
- clear when walking a long distance from the base
- fast recharge time

I do have the Plantronics CS50 (not the USB edition) as a standard phone accessory for everyone on my team, but I do not consider it perfect. I will say that it is light and lasts a long time between charges.

I was attempting to change over to the CS50-USB so we could all use softphones, as the ear piece was identical, but...

Cons: There was a loud buzz that was evident in the background. We tried it on several computers and it was always there.

We tried other headsets and there was no buzzing.
i dont know if this was indicative of a defective headset, or maybe USB headsets just have a buzzing in the background.

Other Thoughts: Nice earpeice.

4 out of 5 eggsGood - not great

Pros: Works well with most "software phones" applications as long as you are on a network/LAN with the VOIP server. clean and clear sound.

Cons: our office has remote/home users who tested and unless you have an exceptionally fast AND clean connection you will get echo's and slow response on voice conversations. -=thus the 4 and not a 5.

Other Thoughts: *to use the auto pickup from the headset requires the enclosed software in order to work correctly.- hmm, could have done this in the driver but didn't.
Microphone position is very important when using- to close to the mouth and you sound garbled on the other end.

3 out of 5 eggsreview

Pros: Wireless! Works great. Easy setup. Works fine through walls and really up to ~200 ft (unlike some headsets).

Cons: Poor sound quality and microphone quality. I use it for skype and its hard for people to understand me. I have to have the microphone around my eyes or else it makes a weird noise. The earpieces don't even hold up the mic so you need to use the headset.

Other Thoughts: Honestly, if you are going to use this for simple home use or office use, don't get it. It's way too expensive for what it does.

5 out of 5 eggswhat a great piece of hardware

Pros: bought it for use with skype, and couldn't be happier with it. i originally used the speakers and microphone, but that got old holding the mic, and there seemed to be a delay. with the headset, it's like being on the phone. no delay. no repeating. volume, as well as my voice through the mic sound great. worth the cost!!

Cons: had an issue when first installed, i had to remind windows when to use the headset(for calls), and when to use the speakers(for movies). but it's working perfect now.

Other Thoughts: wish i didn't have all these headsets around. one for the cell phone, one for the POTS phone, now this. someday they'll all be combined.

4 out of 5 eggsGood headset

Pros: The sound quality is sufficient for accurate voice recognition with DNS. For speaking to a real person, the sound is vintage Plantronics - you come across as though you are speaking into a large can. Not terrible -- comparable to most cell phones. The headband is comfortable, and the range is surprisingly good. Be aware that the person you are speaking to will hear you cut out well before you hear any disruption in the signal. Talk time is excellent; I get ~6 hours per charge.

Cons: As noted by many others, the over-the-ear option is not very comfortable. Plantronics includes 3 or 4 different earclips, none of which appear to be designed for human heads. I decided comfort won out over dorky looks and went with the included headband.

Other Thoughts: The included software randomly enables the radio link when the headset is not in use. I have been surprised by dead batteries on more than one occasion, even after explicitly turning the radio off. I now leave the headset in its charger whenever it is not being used. Seems to work fine.

5 out of 5 eggsPlantronics CS50-USB Mic

Pros: Superb NewEgg delivery. I ordered it five o'clock in the afternoon and received it the next day standard UPS!
Accurate and works as promised!
Reasonably small and light.
Works extremely well with
Dragon NaturallySpeaking Version 9 Professional. Skype also works
reasonably well. Good battery life. I've had it turned on for nearly 7 hours without problems.

Cons: Documentation is a little lacking. The over the ear clip on wire is somewhat uncomfortable. It could be better. However it is adjustable.

Other Thoughts: Fix the earpiece and provide better instructions! I'd buy it again. Although it is somewhat
expensive for a microphone.

2 out of 5 eggsMediocre audio - poor compatibility

Pros: Diminiutive in size

Cons: Weak audio. The promised integration with Skype, GTalk, etc. was erratic: The answer button, crucial to using this away from the PC and keyboard, did not respond to VOIP rings/incoming calls. What's the point of a cordless VOIP headset if you can't answer calls when away from the keyboard?
