5 out of 5 eggsSennheiser Silver RS 180 Circumaural Wireless Headphone w/ Transmitter

Pros: I use a studio microphone i did not need a microphone with it, i use these for gaming and listening to music they are outstanding crystal clear they are level across the listening stream if you are looking for extreme bass look else were. I live in a n apartment and it goes through walls no problem .They are extremely comfortable even after 8 hours of wear you forget you have them on.They stay on your head no matter what and i have a big head.Don't buy junk buy these you will not be disapointed.I have not had the batteries run out but i have not tried to run them down .Simple to use plug and play.Plug in batteries plug in power supply let it charge overnight , Plug into computer speaker turn on the base turn on the headset and away you go no complicated setup two buttons to press.

Cons: Other then no extreme bass nothing these are amazing .No fancy lights but that isn't what i bought them for.

Other Thoughts: I highly suggest this product to anyone looking for a premium wireless headset.

Pros: Good sound, easy set-up, good wireless range, pleasant to listen to for long periods, comfortable for longer periods of time
I wear hearing aids and they work well with them.

Cons: the volume control is ackward and hard to use by touch alone

5 out of 5 eggsSennheiser HD 598 v/s RS 180 v/s RS 170 Mini Review

Pros: As good as wired headphones. Enough said.

The only headphone with the sound signature I love.

Cons: Lack of surround sound and bass boost

Other Thoughts: Sennheiser HD 598 v/s RS 180 v/s RS 170 Mini Review

I went to the Sennheiser office for demo of their headphones.

I preferred RS 180 in this lot because the sound quality was nearly as good as HD 598 but with more thumping bass and very little difference in clearness and clarity, while being wireless. HD 598 was a bit better but not by much.

RS 180 was significantly better than RS 170. RS 180 has more quality and quality of bass compared to RS 170 even with bass boost enabled. The clarity is better with RS 180. It was deeper and more authoritative and with a much deeper and wider soundstage. It wasn't anywhere close to as loud as RS 170 though. And RS 180 didn't leak much sound, not enough to be heard outside the room. HD 598 did leak much more sound though, still not enough to be heard outside a moderately soundproof room.

I proffered the sound signature of the RS 180 the best. The treble of the RS 170 was better than the RS 180 however the mids were best with HD 598, almost as forward and good with RS180 and slightly worse with RS 170.

All three had forward mids. I tried the RS 180 velour pads on RS 170 and the difference between the two was reduced by 30-40%, the RS170 improved a lot by doing just that. And it was also more comfortable.

In retrospect, I would prefer to buy RS 180 over RS 170. The price difference isn't as much as the difference in quality. The difference is not night and day, but certainly noticeable and very significant. Not worth upgrading at full price unless you can sell the previous can for at least 70-80% of the purchase price though.

I recommend the RS 180 over the RS 170 at current pricing. Surround option is decent but just Dolby Headphone isn't bad either. And RS 180 has better bass quantity and quality than RS 170 anyway, partly due to the velour ear pads though. The HD 598 is like marginally better than RS 180 except for thumping bass but then the bass with everything nearly as good makes the RS 180 a clear winner if you can afford it. Especially since it is wireless.

But all this was with the Lehmann amp which costs about 750 pounds. My Asus STX card doesn't power my RS 170 anywhere close. The difference from the Lehmann amp is nearly night and day with it being far livelier, open, with a bigger soundstage and brighter as well. With an STX card you don't get the same effect with a RS 170. It isn't even close.

5 out of 5 eggsThey Rock

Pros: Kleer provides excellent quality audio.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I've purchased 1 set for home and 1 set for work when they were heavily discounted. I've purchased some bluetooth headphones in the past, but there is no comparison. These simply Rock!

The open-air design does give a sense of openness but they've done a good job at keeping the bass response at a good level.

The Kleer digital technology seems to work very well, providing full frequency response and not having any noise or glitches in the audio. When you do reach the edge of the signal, it simply drops audio and resumes equally as well. I can go anywhere in my home & not drop audio. At work, the RF environment is a bit more hostile, with multiple Wifi routers from several buildings around us. The Transmitter will shift frequency if it encounters an interfering signal, and appears to do so with no audible indication that it has done so. Even in this environment, I just begin to lose the signal at the furthest point in the building.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the Money

Pros: These were definitely worth the money (I bought them at $275, and I'd buy them again). I'm no pro user, but these are the best headphones I've ever owned wired or wireless.

- Fantastic Sound Quality
- Digital wireless = no static interference
- Comfortable to wear
- ~120 - 200 ft range, depending on # of walls of course
- They last a long time on one charge (~12-20hrs continuous depending on use, though I'd recommend buying higher capacity NiMH batteries)

Cons: - The clips that hold the ear pads are kind of weak and break easily (if you drop them, which I have a few times).

BUT Sennheiser was cool enough to ship another pair of ear pads to me overnight free of charge so no points off. I love this company!!

5 out of 5 eggsMarvelous

Pros: Great sound quality. Headset not to heavy on my head.

Cons: When I first set it up and used it the transmitter and headset are supposed to turn off about five minutes after you turn the audio source off. First and second try battery drained. Called company tech department who suggested unplugging the unit for a while to see if it would reset itself. It worked and no problems since.

Other Thoughts: Great product but a little expensive.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the Price

Pros: Excellent Sound. Good Range. Easy setup. I do not usually write reviews but this one dseserves it.

Cons: Very expensive. Almost did not by it because of that.

Other Thoughts: Will find the manual on the disk as a pdf file. Not a real problem but had to find it first. Setup was easy after I found that. What would have been good would have ben a card or something else pointing that out.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed in less then 2 months

Pros: Great sound quality when they were working.

Cons: After about a month the headset would only stay joined to the transmiter for ~ 30 seconds. This got progressively worse with time. I was forced to send them to Sennheiser because new egg has a 30 day return policy. the shipping cost me $21.00. I am not happy with this product.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Quality

Pros: Very Comfortable
No interference noise
Open-air provides excellent sound quality
Good range even without a direct line of sight. I can go outside to my garden with them on and can still get near perfect reception.
Long battery life (but don't let them go dead or it will seem like an eternity for them to charge).

Cons: Auto-on/sync when headphones removed from base would have been nice. (not really a con)

Other Thoughts: My roommate has a pair of RS 170's which are nice but are not as comfortable. They are also not open-air so they give you a closed in sound, however they do block out much more of the ambient noise.

I'm curious to see what the RS 220's will be like. However I'm not enthused by the $600MSRP. In the grand scheme of things it will probably be worth it for the quality you get if they are anything like the RS 180's and even the RS 170's.

5 out of 5 eggsFor casual games like I am

Pros: Light, sound quality, absolutely NO hiss, NO wireless interference, NO sound lag, easy setup

Cons: I haven't found anything yet, and I don't think I will.

Other Thoughts: I was reviewing a lot of headphones for my game consoles, and I found out that all those 5.1 surround sound headphones couldn't compete these high-end ones such as Sennheiser and AKG. I still don't know if it's a FACT, so it'll still be your decision if you play FPS games a lot. There are many articles you can read online.

Setup was very easy. I bought a Y adapter and plugged it in and done in a min! Absolutely no hiss, no interference. I usually put my laptop right next to me, sometimes my wife's laptop too, iPhones, and another Xbox of my wife’s with wireless connection, no interference so far.

The only thing I was hesitant to buy these was the sound lag issue. I play Super Street Fighter 4 on the Evo monitor, Asus VH236H. If you know the game and this monitor, you have an idea how sensitive it can get. I tried the game as soon as I got these, it was flawless. No lag, no complaint.
