3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Amazing sound, great price, extremely comfortable, very affordable.

Cons: Broke with minimal use (5-10 hours a week tops) after about 3 months, sound only comes out of the left speaker. They weren't dropped or stepped on or damaged in any way, it just stopped working out of nowhere. A little disappointing because I bought these headphones pretty much because of all the reviews saying how good quality and long lasting they are.

5 out of 5 eggsAccurate, durable, comfortable

Pros: The first thing you need to understand about these is that they're studio monitors. They're made to output sound exactly as it should be. The extremely deep smooth bass doesn't overpower the mids and highs (if you want that, set your EQ).

The second thing you should understand is these are extremely durable. If you treat these right, they'll last you forever. The only issue with wear I've had is the stickers coming off and the ear pads coming apart after a couple years of really heavy use (replacement velour pads by beyerdynamic are available and worth it). I've rolled over on these in my sleep a few times over the years and had one of the ear pieces pop out. It's really simple to just pop it back in and the plastic (that holds the metal ear piece) is extremely solid.

These are not ultra-portable, because of the extremely long cord length, but they do fold up fairly nice. The isolation and sound-leakage isn't great, but much better than anything else that has anywhere near as good audio quality. You could get away with listening to these on an airplane without disturbing the person next to you too much. Also, the cord can be tucked away in your pocket or twist-tied up.

If all you want is a quality, durable design with unbiased sound, buy these.

Cons: The ear pads will probably have to be replaced after around the equivalent of a year of daily heavy use.

The sound accuracy doesn't discriminate against poor quality sources, so lossy digital music audio artifacts might be more noticeable.

Can make your expensive home theater system sound terrible in comparison.

Other Thoughts: These also do have a bit of a burn-in period. You should hold your judgement until you've put at least 100 hours through them.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Headphones

Pros: I bought these over a year ago and have yet to write a review. These headphones are, by far, the most comfortable and best sounding I have ever worn. I keep these things on for hours and the only problem over that extremely long period of time is my ears finally start to get warm. If mine were to be lost, stolen, or broke then I would immediately order another set.

Cons: Only thing I can think of is after over a year of use, some of the material that connects to the inside of the earphone is beginning to tear. Granted, that could be more from my rough use as opposed to the actual quality of the headphones.

5 out of 5 eggsThe only headphones I'll ever buy...

Pros: I've been using this exact headphone since I was 12 years old. I've always come back to it for gaming and music. I wouldn't choose anything else. Don't be fooled by Bose and their brand name - stick with Sony.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsLove them so much!

Pros: Well first, the gold case with the ribbon and stuff was a really nice presentation lol. But these headphones are so amazing and I bought them when they were $70! I've listened to beats before and these rival beats. They are super comfortable. The sound quality is amazing. The bass is good. They also come with a little bag/case to hold them in. They fold up nicely and are easy to store. I did just receive them so in 6 months I will update and let you know if they hold up.

Cons: No cons so far.

Other Thoughts: These would be great for travel and everyday use. When they're on your head people next to you can't hear it even if you play it pretty loud. (don't be that guy who thinks he's a dj and blasts music.) Highly recommend these.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Has great smooth sound and has worked flawlessly for over a year. Even after some rough treatment it has done an amazing job. Never had a serious issue.

Cons: They can get a little uncomfortable, but you get used to it. The bass is not as deep as you would expect, but this has not been an issue for me since having deep throbbing bass sounds is not a priority for me.

5 out of 5 eggsHighly Recommended

Pros: The best pair of headphones I have ever had so far. What more can I say?
Great all around sound. Bass not super strong, but good enough for me.
A little heavy, but still pretty comfortable wearing them for a couple of hours.
Compact size, easy to carry around in a backpack.

Cons: Every time I put these on, I lose track of time.
I can't go back to using cheap/inferior headphones because the difference in sound quality is so clear.

Other Thoughts: I rarely go out of my way to post reviews of any kind, but I really had to for this one. I've owned these for almost a year now, and it seems like they will last for a long time.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I purchased these cans about a year ago and have used them nearly every day since receiving them. Let me start by saying they truely are excellent headphones. The sound quality is amazing, with such clarity that I can hear every little instrument in the music I listen to. The first time I tried them out my jaw was on the floor.

I've coupled these babies with a cheap, yet awesome PC audio card (Asus Xonar DG). You really do need a good sound system or audio card to enjoy these to the fullest. They are so sensitive you will pick up the buzz, hiss, and/or electromagnetic interference from low quality sound systems.

They are comfortable to wear, but I must admit they were a little sore during the break-in period; however, I can't fault them for that. They were and still are tight fitting, which I like (the closer they are to the eardrums the better), but not uncomfortably so. They do a fair job of muffling outside sounds as well.

Cons: After a short period – maybe about 6 months after receiving these, the ear pads began to break down. Fortunately, they don't flake on your ears, but they will start to split at the seams, exposing the foam underneath. This in no way diminishes the sound quality or comfort, but I really didn't expect them to degrade that quickly. At the moment, both pads have split all the way around on the inside, yet the material (whatever its called) is staying on fine. Luckily, you can still buy inexpensive replacement pads online (even ones of higher quality material).

Other Thoughts: These make your ears oily as a result of them being closed/unbreathable. Not really a con, and your mileage may vary (I may just be prone to oily ears, dunno). You can always purchase separate ear pads that are made of breathable material if this is a problem for you but I personally don't think it's really necessary.

I've seen big budget movie directors, sound engineers, musicians, and singers using these. There's a reason Sony is still selling these for over 25 years.

5 out of 5 eggsUPDATE

Pros: - Cheap compared to the competition
- Very Accurate
- No overwhelming bass
- they do create depth (you can clearly separate the instruments/singers)
- I like the original retro look (apparently these came into existence in the early 90s maybe late 80s i'm unsure but the design has remained unchanged, please feel free to correct me)

Cons: - They get hot on your ears after a while (30min-hour)
- for Bass lovers there isn't much to be found here (not a CON for me)

Other Thoughts: Great sounding headphones, after a year and a few months of owning these i have still to find anything to match them. I enjoy listening to music through these every single time and when I buy a new song i'm always wondering what "new" sound I will notice that I haven't heard before in my car or any other sound system. they've made it through a few TDY (Temporary Duty Yonder) from hot Deserts (120+ temp) to beyond freezing (Below Zero Temps), From very Humid (80% Plus Humidity) to Low Humidity (single digits) and they are still going strong and have provided great entertainment and relaxation after a few stressful situations. If these ever kick the bucket I'll definitely order a new pair immediately afterwards.
