3 out of 5 eggsGood but falsely advertised

Pros: Recharges on stand, low power drain, adequate volume levels.

Cons: The range was the major issue, it advertised that it can functionally broadcast up to 328 ft I found that you can only go 15-25 ft before static starts interfering with the broadcast. At about 50-75 feet it starts becoming impossible to hear because of static interference. That is still useful but not worth the 100$ price tag.

Other Thoughts: Mine might have been faulty but I kinda doubt it.

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful!

Pros: I have only owned these headphones for a few days, so this review is provisional until I see how they hold up. That being said, I am extremely happy with the unit. Set up went very quickly and easily. I barely needed the set up guide, but I read through it (not always a given with me) and positioned the transmitter away from metal, as recommended. When I first turned them on, I got the hiss and crackling that some people have reported. After a very small amount of fiddling with the channels and the tuning, the background noise disappeared completely.

I'm not an audiophile, but I think the sound is outstanding. I wanted these because I use a rowing machine (the type with the flywheel/fan resistance that makes a lot of noise) and I couldn't hear dialogue over the noise of the rower. After adjusting the audio settings on my TV, the sound is crystal clear, I have great surround sound inside my head (which is admittedly a little weird at times), and I am hearing sound effects that I never heard before ... ever. Small background details.

Unless something changes radically or these croak prematurely, they get a 5-egg from me.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: As some people have already pointed out, the headset is a little loose. People with a small noggin might have issues with the headset staying in place. It fits me well enough that I have not knocked off an egg for it.

Also, setup requires a little patience. The sound is not crystal clear right out of the box. Fiddling with the tuning is required.

1 out of 5 eggsLove Sennheiser, but these are not working

Pros: Moderately comfortable, reasonably priced.

Cons: I have had these headphones for a little more than a month and they have presented static problems from the start (Out of the box I got 1 successful session out of 3 tries using the headphones to listen to my television. The other 2 tries I got nothing but static). I put them away while I was on vacation and brought them out a again this weekend. The first time I used them they worked fine. The next two times I tried them they provided nothing but static (once again I was using them to listen to my television).

Other Thoughts: There seems to be no pattern as to the source of the problem. I am using them with a recent Sony LCD television and plugging the transmitter in to the AV jacks on the tv. I have tried unplugging the jacks from the televsion, unplugging the transmitter power supply, and moving to different spots in the room but I get nothing but static. I am returning these to the manufacturer and will get a wired headphone set instead.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Wireless Headphone

Pros: I bought three to use while we watch movies during workouts on our ellipticals. They have great sound and range, are comfortable, and reliable, even over the noise of three ellipticals being used at the same time.

Cons: The original base unit/charger no longer transmitted to the receiver, so I was forced to switch out to a second base unit. It wasn't enough of a problem for me to de-rate these headphones.

Also, the headphones can occasionally be a bit touchy when re-hanging into their charging cradle to get the red charging light to shine, but again it hasn't been enough of an issue for me to de-rate them.

4 out of 5 eggsPlease redesign the earpads.

Pros: Very good overall quality and performance. I have had two sets for over two years and the only thing I have had to do is replace the rechargable batteries.

Cons: The poor design of the ear pads prevents the headphones from being secure on your head. They should be changed to an around-the-ear design or an in-the-ear design.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: For the reasonable price, excellent sound - light in weight - good build quality.

Cons: If you wish to use this unit not just directly with a TV but with an AV Receiver you may or may not be able to do it easily. In my case I purchased a Radio Shack audio/video selector switch (for about $18 with much cheaper versions available on the Internet). Then, I was able to take DVD output audio and Satellite output audio and manually select the input to the RS 120 transmitter. The result was outstanding sound – no hiss – and the ability to walk all around the house without missing any audio. A far cry from “TV Ears.”

Another small negative – volume control too close to tune control. Also, charger plug difficult to insert into female jack – needed a needle-nosed pliers. And perhaps a balance control might have been nice – but at this price not essential.

Pros: Great while it worked.

Cons: After about a year of ownership, it has developed some static on all channels. I can't find any way to get rid of the static.

4 out of 5 eggsVery good. A few minor issues.

Pros: Good quality sound. The re-charge base is nice. Very nicely packaged with every possible audio connector included. But if you have a typical HDTV you wont need any of them - they come manufactured with a built-in L/R RCA connector. Just plug them right into the TV and you're good to go. Build/manufacture quality is very good, certainly much better than the junk coming from China.

Cons: A little loose-fitting. They fit on top of the ears, not over them, so you cannot swing or dip you head much or they will slip off. But if you are sitting still (or just walking around) listening to the TV they are fine.

Other Thoughts: The auto-shutoff thing people complain about is kinda bogus. Yes the base unit will turn off after about a minute of total silence, but it just puts out a low "hiss" (same sound as when the TV is tuned off). The "hiss" is not very loud - not a big deal really. However I don't know why they chose 1 minute. 1 hour would be more reasonable. Also, I'd suggest the designers move the Tune control away from the Volume control. It only gets used maybe one time then is never touched again. It ought to be on the bottom, on the inside of an ear cup, or somewhere else where it will not be accidentally bumped.
