JVC 3.5mm Gold-Plated Connector Supra-Aural Noise Canceling Headphone

With the new JVC HANC80 noise canceling headphone, now you can choose the most effective noise cancel mode for the circumstances. HANC80 offers both "wide" and "low" noise cancellation modes. The "wide" mode targets a wider frequency range than the "low" mode, and cancels the type of noise typically found in a commercial jet cabin. The "low" mode cancels a slightly narrower and lower frequency range, one associated with the noise generated by trains and buses.

The HANC80 deliver up to 75% noise reduction, and also comes with fully padded closed earpieces which help to block ambient noise, and the padded soft touch headband ensure that they'll remain comfortable throughout a long listening. It also offers a flat folding style so that they're easy to carry or pack, and comes with a carrying pouch and a dual-plug adapter.

3 out of 5 eggsEconomical and modest.

Pros: Functional and compact, as well as inexpensive. Bass is certainly audible, but not overly clear. The sound canceling works to a degree. These are simple and compact headphones for a train or plane ride. I like the materials used other than the squeaky and hollow plastic. They try to be a nice pair and I applaud them for their effort. Decent battery life around 30 hours.

Cons: Not nearly a good set of headphones, audiophiles beware. The mids and lows are kind of there, but there are absolutely no highs. Its a very muffled sound you might get from a hollow pumpkin or waterlogged tree. Switching on noise canceling kills the volume, so i never use it. Which is a shame because that's the whole point of these jvcs. The carrying bag is useless, and the framework itself looks anorexicly thin. They may be proportional for small children, but will look silly and trashy on anyone over 100 pounds.
They become excruciatingly painful to wear for more than a couple dozens of minutes. They do feel very nice at first for the first few seconds, though.

3 out of 5 eggsNoise canceling?

Pros: Well I must admit they are small and not something that smashes your ears very hard. Compact they are thats what I love.

Cons: So called noise reduction doesn't work as well as I thought. I got mine for $35. Base is almost none existant, also it takes a triple AAA battery...thats pretty poor. I would rather if it uses power from the jack. The cord seems to tangle at the neck a lot. The noise reduction does make the song quieter so keep it off unless you want to hear a SOFT song.

Other Thoughts: All around for the price they are good, now I'm comparing to a Bose head set and these are good for the price, but it draws back. If I could I would ask JVC to acctully make them NOISE CANCELLING.

4 out of 5 eggsGood phones

Pros: Sound is OK. Comfortable. Handy pouch. The cord is just the right length if you plan to stick your player in a pants pocket -- there's a little slack, but not enough to hang down by your knees.

Cons: Cord is a bit stiff -- it sometimes has kinks that bunch up near my neck.

Other Thoughts: There is some noise reduction, but it's not dramatic. External high frequencies are attenuated even when it's off by the closed design.

You'll probably be able to store your mp3 player in the pouch along with the headphones. I'm hoping the cord will get more flexible with time.

I ordered a second pair yesterday from Newegg, so I guess that means I like them.

Pros: Very comfortable and did drown out a considerable amount of background noise. Treble was excellent and sounds was smooth.

Cons: Base was extremely lacking. They also fold very weird.

Other Thoughts: Overall there are much better headphones for the price.

4 out of 5 eggsNice headphones

Pros: Fit snuggly without that feeling like they are smashing your ears in. Good bass reproduction, unlike many on/over ear headphones I've owned. The travel bag they come with is a nice touch.

Cons: The noise reduction function doesn't seem to work very well. I tested them in a living room with low-medium background noise, and could still hear everything going on around me. But, my expectations for the noise reduction feature might have been too high.

Other Thoughts: Great overall headphones for the price.
