3 out of 5 eggsUpdated Review

Pros: Small, not ugly as the Voyager "is that a hearing aid or are you just a BT dork" model.

Cons: Mediocre battery life. Not as comfortable as other headsets that don't try to fit right into your ear canal. No accessories included, unless you count the plastic bag it comes in. No love from Plantronics' own Spokes software, why???

Other Thoughts: This is a follow-up to my previous review. I wanted to update it, but Newegg doesn't seem to have any way of doing that.

Anyway, still not terribly happy about the way the headset is (or perhaps is not?) described. I still get intermittent complaints about the quality of how I sound, despite going extraordinary lengths to make it work. This may have more to do with the general flakiness of BT than this headset.

I got horrific sound from the Dell 375 BT module built into my work laptop. So I disabled it and bought an AZIO class 1 BT dongle, which greatly improved the range and sound quality I hear. But everyone I talked to complained that I sounded like I was calling from the bottom of a well. I disabled every BT device in the house (iPad, cell phone, speaker, keyboard) and moved as far as possible (40' and 4 walls) from my wi-fi router to reduce interference. Still not useable for work calls. I tried using it with my MacBook, no problem at all, excellent sound, but I can't work from my MacBook because of an absence OS X versions of some required software I must use for work.

I removed the Toshiba BT software that came with my dongle, thinking I might send it back. Win7 installed it's own driver, and I tried it again. Sound quality was much better, but the headset kept disconnecting between calls, causing me to miss work calls while fumbling with re-connecting. I went to the support page for the dongle installed an updated software package. Now I mostly get decent quality sound, but still have issues a couple of times a day. I'd be much happier if I could answer/hang up the Cisco softphone from the headset with Plantronics Spokes, but they've intentionally disabled it with this headset model.

Maybe battery life wouldn't be such an issue IF THE CASE WAS INCLUDED!!!

The net of it is a lot of the sound quality depends on the quality of the hardware and drivers of the BT transmitter you connect the headset to and the radio interference in your environment. This device is NOT an effective replacement for a wired headset, it's simply too flaky. Perhaps that's more of a comment about the general state of BT headsets. This is the 3rd one I've tried. Perhaps a DECT (same technology used in newer cordless phones) headset would work better.

1 out of 5 eggsThis is only the headset, beware!!!!

Pros: It's a headset, nothing else.

Cons: The description does not make it clear that this is only a REPLACEMENT headset. It's not a complete kit. There's no case, charger, extra eartips or instructions. You get just the headset in a little plastic bag and that's all. The description does not make clear what you're buying. I think it's very misleading. This is going right back, I'm not happy at all with this. The charge case was a large part of the reason I bought it. If I could give it zero eggs I would.

Other Thoughts: You probably want item 9SIA19P0EU3056 if you want the real kit.
