Don't forget the Slimline SATA Adapter!
Pros: I recently build a HTPC using the SilverStone SST-SG08B Mini-ITX Desktop Computer Case and 600W Power Supply, combo. This case does not have room for a full-size optical drive and so I bought the LG Blu-Ray Drive SATA Model CT40N (OEM). I obviously used this drive to install Windows 8 Pro on my new build and I've since used it to play several Blu-ray movies without a flaw. As there are not a lot of choices for slimline optical, Blu-ray drives and I got mine on sale, this was a good choice.
Cons: If you don't buy laptop drives, you won't know that they require a Slimline SATA connector, not the standard SATA connector. As I found out about this difference beforehand, I bought a StarTech Model SLSATAF20 20in Slimline SATA to SATA with LP4 Power Cable Adapter for the data connection to my mobo and for the power connection to a molex plug in the Silverstone PSU. The tight clearances in the mini-ITX case didn't allow room for an adapter from slimline SATA to standard SATA, so the StarTech cable was the best solution for me.
Other Thoughts: Good buy for the price and has performed as expected

Bare Bones OEM Pack
Pros: Slim unit that reads and writes most media types. Construction seems decent. Installation is straightforward and discs runs relatively quiet. I incorporated this optical drive into a mini ATA build for a home entertainment computer.
Cons: Bare bones.... just the drive wrapped in bubble wrap within a small plain brown box. No documentation or any support, warranty or contact info. This is a slim drive and is not as sturdy as a standard sized optical drive. When the open button is pressed, the tray pops out and only slides out partially- much like a laptop drive (which it is). Care must be taken when installing and removing discs as the tray feels rather flimsy. Yes, it require a mini SATA adapter. It would have been nice to have this included but this is just an OEM pack, you get what you pay for. Doesn't write Blu-Ray discs either, but no deal breaker for me.
Other Thoughts: If you need an decent slim internal optical drive there aren't that many choices out there. If using this in a build for a child's computer make sure they understand that the disc tray is rather flimsy and care should be taken when putting in and removing discs.

Looks good, but...
Pros: This is intended for my Car PC.
Cons: No where on Newegg site or even the manufacturer's site does it say that it requires a mini-sata power connector!
Other Thoughts: Have not used it yet as I now have a space conflict between this and the CPU fan. Ordering a low profile fan to compensate.
