Triple Head Maximum Build Size (W x L x H): 7 1/3 x 10 3/4 x 9 1/2" (185 x 26 x 240mm)
Print Resolution: 0.004" (0.100mm) or 0.01" (0.250mm) or 0.02" (0.500mm)
Print Tolerance: x and y axis ± 1% of object dimension or ± 0.008" (0.2mm / 200 microns) whichever is greater z axis ± half the processed z resolution (Shrinkage and warpage can occur on models and is purely geometry dependent)
Pros: 3 print heads for 3 colors You can technically load ABS and PLA in the same print. Software is easy and smooth to work with.
Cons: Successful prints are at less than 40%.
The "magic glue" is a nightmare. At least 30% of the prints pull away from the print plate while printing. We have tried various amounts and dry times but nothing seems to guarantee good adhesion. Also this goop is horribly expensive.
Clogged print heads. Constantly having to clean out the heads. We have 3 other plastic printers and none of them get clogged as much as this printer.
Replacement cartridges are way over priced. On top of that, the filament breaks fairly regularly meaning that I lose two or three feet of filament to rethread. This does not include the lost filament caused by having to discard an incomplete print because the print stopped due to broken filament.
The Z-Gap sensor is weak and in a horrible location. It is between two print heads and beside a fan. This sensor works off of magnetic fields and thus being in a "noisy electronic" location makes it sketchy.
Other Thoughts: This is not something I can put as a Con precisely but it feels like a negative to me. Multi-Color printing extends the print time exponentially. The way it works is that one color will print but the second color print head has to heat up. In the mean time the first color print head cools down. So, every time the color changes there is a two or three minute no-print window where the head is coming up to temperature. Why the heads cannot be kept warm and closer to print temp is beyond me.
