5 out of 5 eggsUSB keying interface: thumb's up!

Pros: Very simple to install, worked quite well with my contesting software and digital modes software. Uses a high quality all, steel, stereo mic plug.

Cons: The cable was just long enough for my application, I would have liked to had a couple of feet longer cable.

Other Thoughts: This has to be the best deal on a USB CW keying interface for less than the cost of a USB to serial adapter.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I did not know that this cable would be coming by mail from China. I was a bit dismayed at that and wondered how long it would take to arrive. Turns out it took exactly a week. Much quicker than I had imagined.

Cons: I ordered a monaural jack and the one that came was stereo so I had to buy an adapter to convert stereo to monaural. Otherwise, it works perfectly.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Value

Pros: This is a well-made cable that installs easily. I use it with the ACLog amateur radio logging program, but it should work well with any CW transmitting program that keys the transmitter by toggling the serial port's DTR line. It seems unlikely that you could build your own cable for less than the price of this one.

Cons: Shipping is a bit slow, but the product is worth the wait.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Product!

Pros: Good physical build. High quality chrome quarter inch jack. Unit is based on a CH340 chipset and yes, IT DOES USE A OPTO-ISOLATOR for the keying interface. No shared/unified grounds in this device. Resistance between grounds exceeds 80 Megaohms, the limit of my test equipment. Works great with my Icom IC-7600 and IC-7000 with Ham Radio Deluxe. When properly configured, I don't even need to start HRD, just start DM780 in CW mode and using the COM port configuration menu, set your radio to STRAIGHT KEY and I am able to use the CW modes the way the manufacturer intended, in CW mode!
It does come with a software disc, but not needed with Windows 7 as driver is automatically installed upon insertion. Just look up which com port number was assigned by your PC and point DM780 to that numbered port and VIola! It works perfectly! Bye bye Signalink and their MCW modes, you will not regret this inexpensive purchase! I even bought two.

Cons: strain relief in quarter inch jack could be more robust.

Other Thoughts: One may be able to use an adaptor on this device to convert to an acessory jack and use this interface also to act as a RTTY keyer. I have not tried yet, but it should work.
