This review is from: Shuttle DS57U Intel Celeron 3205U DDR3L Slim PC Barebone
Pros: * Small size * Good price * Installation of RAM and hard drive(s) is more convenient than on any small form factor computer or even regular desktop I have ever worked with * Thumb screws! I am planning on swapping out the secondary hard drive frequently and was elated to find that I got a bag of thumb screws included. * Dual NIC and two serial ports are great for me (although I haven't tried using the serial ports yet)
Cons: I am using this in an old project I am starting to work on again. Previously, I had used an AOpen DE2700 which no longer is available and I was not happy with the newer AOpen Digital Engine products. I do prefer the AOpen DE2700's hot swap disk caddy but the smaller size and faster processor on this Shuttle product more than make up the difference. Both products have solid metal construction which is important for me so I can bolt these down in strange places (outdoors and on vehicles).

Pros: Sturdy metal chassis, plenty of USB ports, VESA mounts, fanless.
We use these as terminals for work completion stations in a sometimes very dusty environment. In the two years we've used them we have yet to see a unit fail, and we have over 20 of them in service currently. We're running Windows 7 and a small application with no issues. They behave very well on the network. We also use one running pfsense for a test lab.
Cons: I would like a DVI output, but I realize this is meant as a home theater platform so not too upset.
Other Thoughts: We'll be purchasing these as long as they're available! I've seen them upgrade the CPUs twice since we

Pros: -Slim form factor case. -Reasonably easy access to internal ports -Dual Intel GbE, contrary to product description, it's not FE+GbE; it's simply 2 different Intel chipsets, 1 chipset on each NIC. -Though very situational, the rear pin-block connector for 'power on' & 'CMOS reset' are cool ideas.
Cons: -Product descriptions of "Intel Celeron 3205U dual core CPU i3 5005U, i5 5200U, i7 5500U (optional)" is misleading. I thought it meant that it came with a Celeron, but was upgradable to specific i3/i5/i7's. This is not the case. The Celeron is permanently attached to the board. -Onboard WiFi card has one antenna port, when 2 is typical. Antenna is somewhere in chassis and doesn't go to a chassis connector for an external antenna -Product has BIOS (specifically when in UEFI and to a lesser extent even in legacy mode) boot issues. It keeps halting with error 'unable to boot to this device' type errors despite drives and media known as good. -Due to #2, an OS cannot be installed, making the PC worthless. -Product manual either states the obvious, or in the case of the BIOS manual, restates what is already on the screen adding no clarity to the vague settings title.
Other Thoughts: Was planning on using this for a pfSense (based on FreeBSD) VPN & Router appliance. Got it to install once on a SD card via a USB3.0 DVD drive in legacy mode, but it fought me tooth and nail and never worked in UEFI. Never could get it the installer media to boot again, even from bootable-USB drives, let alone install to a M.2 mSATA device. PC even stopped booting from Win7 media that is known good in both legacy & UEFI modes. Sure PC turns on and technically POST's, but it's effectively a brick if it can't load an OS. Returning product and going to try a "Jetway JBC320U93W-2930" instead.
