5 out of 5 eggsImpressive

Pros: The picture on this monitor has to be seen to be believed. I wasn't expecting much but maybe a mid grade off brand monitor. I was mistaken. By far the most vibrant and balanced monitor I have used to date. I don't use any special tools to calibrate, I usually just use my CCC/NvCP. I calibrated to my liking within minutes and it usually takes me hours on any other monitor I have used before. I was impressed with the shipping, probably the fastest I have received an item I have ordered online. Funny I received something from California faster than I receive something from Pennsylvania. Got it in exactly 3 days. I highly.... highly recommend this set up if you plan on going 1440p. Received mine with zero dead pixels. Had some stuck but that was easily remedied. The glare is also not an issue unless you have a window or light behind you, which you shouldn't put there anyways. On top of that, with not having the anti glare the colors and picture are not fogged out or overly grey/white in color. I cannot stand how grainy and faded anti glares make colors. There is no noticeable bleeding of the backlight either. It's hard to find a new monitor without that issue, this is used and doesn't have it.

Cons: Stands unimpressive, kinda flimsy, but will be ok if you have a study desk. besides you can go to best buy or staples and get an aftermarket one. No big deal. There are scratches on the base but again.... to be expected from a used monitor. Some of you will not like the lack of controls, but if you use the buttons on your monitor to calibrate instead of a device or graphics control panel... I have some bad news for you....

Other Thoughts: Great product. I researched it and heard nothing but good things about brand new shimians before I bought this one. I was hesitant about buying this used, but after receiving it I would do so in a heart beat. The rumor of them using A- apple and Samsung glossy panels is absolutely true. You will understand when you receive yours.

5 out of 5 eggsThank you, Korea!

Pros: Brilliant colors, crisp picture, and of course that resolution!
The unit I recieved had one dead pixel, which was only discovered after a long and very close inspection. It is so small that I still have to search for it to see it. No scratches, smudges, dents or any cosmetic damage that I have seen so far. Also, for some reason, mine came with built-in speakers on the backside (don't remember it saying anything about speakers), although I don't use speakers, so not sure if they are any good or not.

Cons: There is backlight bleeding. However, this is only noticeable when the screen is completely black. Backlight bleeding looks like a yellowish blur at the bottom corners of the screen, when you can see it.
The stand is not exactly heavy duty, but don't let that influence a great opportunity. Just put it somewhere stable!
Finally, as with all IPS monitors, don't let it face a light source. That beautiful screen comes with a catch... glare! Make sure you place your screen wisely. Move your computer setup if you have to. It's worth the trouble.

Other Thoughts: I am a heavy PC gamer. This monitor was an immense upgrade from my old 24" matte screen LED monitor. My games look incredible on this thing. For the price, you will NOT find a better deal, unless you spend months waiting for an unbelievable sale to come by (good luck with that).
Admittedly, I was very nervous about ordering this, due to the obvious risks. But I am very happy with the one I got and I honestly feel that it was very much worth the risk, and definitely the $$$!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor!

Pros: Pros: I ordered from San Diego, CA and I received it the very next day! It was well packed and completely protected. No dead pixels. Some extremely minor dings and scratches that are barely visible on the black plastic. Fired right up and worked as expected right out of the box. Color and screen are fantastic.

Cons: Cons: The only con is that it requires a DVI-D port and my 760GT card only has one. Otherwise I would have strongly considered buying two.

5 out of 5 eggsUnbelievable (with caveats)

Pros: The screen...THE SCREEN. It has to be seen to be believed. I didn't expect too much going in. I came from a good 24" 1080P TN panel. The difference in colors and sharpness is unbelievable. Everything from movies, games, web browsing is all more immersive. The glossy screen was flawless (no dead pixels, no scratches, nothing).

Cons: The monitor case has seen better days. Don't get this thinking that you'll get a flawless case. There are scratches everywhere, mostly on the foot of the stand. The ones on the monitor bezel aren't too noticeable.

Also, I'm sure this came from a Korean internet cafe of sorts. It reeks of cigarette smoke. Stale cigarette smoke. The first time I had it on, my office STUNK. It's not so bad now that I've had it for a few days. I will give it to the refurb place that they scrubbed it down best they could, but the stench was still there. The white plastic border is slightly yellowed I'm sure from the tar.

Also know that there is no OSD like most Korean off-brand monitors. All you get for buttons are a power button and brightness controls without any feedback (but it seems like it has 30 levels). All other adjustments are through software.

Other Thoughts: Even with all the cons, this monitor is still a beast. You are taking a chance doing a used refurbished that was manufactured 3 years ago. The payoff, though, if excellent if you get a good one. If you are more risk-averse, there are other Korean 1440P options for about $70-100+ more.

Make sure you have a video card that can drive 1440P and has a dual-link DVI port.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Screen, great price!

Pros: The picture on this unit is fantastic! If you are looking to buy this, know that it is the same panel that Apple uses on its Thunderbolt displays. I have been told that the ones that Shimian gets are the ones Apple rejects for various reasons. This could be a few dead pixels, or some other defect that doesn't meet Apple's quality control. However, for 1/4 the price it is definitely a great buy! My panel arrived without any dead pixels or anything else wrong with the panel. The colors and resolution are exactly what you would get with the Thunderbolt display, so that is very high quality.

Cons: The stand is quite wobbly, and the monitor housing has buttons that have no function. I replaced the stand with an aftermarket VESA stand (thankfully the monitor is VESA ready) and the buttons are on the back and I can't see them unless I turn it around so whatever...
It's dual link DVI only, so that may be a con depending on your graphics card.

Other Thoughts: Even with having to replace the stand I'm only spending around $300 for a $1000.00 monitor. I was hesitant to believe that these are the same panels Apple uses, but after buying it and seeing it I'm convinced they are.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Company, No Problems

Pros: the monitor is very very nice, the color, resolution, and backlighting are on point. very little cosmetic wear (expected some for it being refurbished) and i saved about 800 dollars due to this being the same panel as a 1000 dollar apple cinema display A- Stock.

Cons: the stand on it can be better, and the awkward useless buttons and speaker holes arent very appealing. i ended up having 1 stuck pixel in the bottom right hand corner, but that was expected and its not noticeable unless on a black screen

Other Thoughts: i love this thing, im a gamer and i run 2 r9 290's on it at ultra settings and its very very awesome!
