The REBEL on the Move.

Photographers looking for an easy-to-use camera that will help them create their next masterpiece need look no further than the Canon EOS Rebel T3i. The next in a long line of phenomenal compact DSLRs, the EOS Rebel T3i continues the Rebel tradition of easy operation, compact design and no-compromise performance. Featuring Canon's newest DIGIC 4 Image Processor and an 18.0 Megapixel CMOS Image Sensor - plus cutting-edge technologies like Full HD video recording, Live View shooting, Wireless flash photography and even a Vari-angle 3.0-inch LCD monitor - the EOS Rebel T3i offers the best of EOS photography in a compact package.

  • newegg High image quality and speed The EOS Rebel T3i has an 18.0 Megapixel CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) sensor that captures images with exceptional clarity and tonal range and offers more than enough resolution for big enlargements or crops. This first-class sensor features many of the same new technologies as used by professional Canon cameras to maximize each pixel's light-gathering efficiency. Its APS-C size sensor creates an effective 1.6x field of view (compared to 35mm format). Besides, the Canon DIGIC 4 Image Processor dramatically speeds up the entire EOS Rebel T3i DSLR's camera operations for intuitive operation and offers improvements in both fine detail and natural color reproduction. It works in concert with the EOS Rebel T3i DSLR's CMOS Image Sensor to achieve phenomenal levels of performance in nearly any situation.
  • newegg Amazing Results, No Matter the Light. The EOS Rebel T3i features an expanded ISO range that makes shooting possible in situations previously unthinkable without flash. With an ISO rating up to 6400 (expandable to ISO 12800), along with the DIGIC 4 Image Processor's improved noise-reduction technology, creative possibilities abound. Combine the EOS Rebel T3i with one of Canon's EF or EF-S lenses with Optical Image Stabilizer and the shooting possibilities for both movies and stills expand even further.
  • newegg HD Dreams Come True When Full HD (1920 x 1080) is set, you can use Movie Digital Zoom to magnify the center of the image by approximately 3-10x. With the Video Snapshot feature, the EOS Rebel T3i DSLR will capture short video clips (of 2, 4 or 8 seconds) then combine them automatically into one video file as a snapshot or highlights “album.” With no editing needed after shooting, the compiled video is perfect for sharing online or displaying directly on an HDTV via the camera's HDMI port. In addition to a number of different recording size and frame rate modes, the EOS Rebel T3i enables easy manual control of exposure, focus and Live View features and even allows for in-camera editing. The large CMOS sensor and compatibility with over 60 lenses provide a wealth of depth-of-field options.
  • newegg Low Angles or High, a Big Vari-angle LCD Captures All the Details The EOS Rebel T3i features a bright, high resolution, flip-out Vari-angle 3.0-inch Clear View LCD monitor for shooting at a variety of angles. By simply rotating the monitor, you can hold the camera directly overhead for above-the-crowd shots at concerts, or hold the camera at a low angle for kids and pets. By rotating the LCD monitor fully, the EOS Rebel T3i becomes the ideal camera for self-portraits. The EOS Rebel T3i freely enables easy angle adjustments even if the camera is mounted on a tripod or has a battery grip attached.
  • newegg Automatic Scene Analysis for Standout Color The EOS Rebel T3i DSLR's new Scene Intelligent Auto mode unites five Canon digital camera technologies – the new Picture Style Auto, plus Automatic Lighting Optimizer, Automatic White Balance, Autofocus, and Automatic Exposure –into a powerful new feature for photographers. Using the advanced EOS Scene Detection System, the camera automatically analyzes the image, taking into account faces, colors, brightness, movement and contrast. Scene Intelligent Auto then chooses the enhancing features to deliver maximum impact. Blues and greens are more vivid, “hot” colors are more fiery, and skin tones are smooth and truer to life.
  • newegg Intelligent Scene Analysis for Superb Exposure The EOS Rebel T3i features a sophisticated, 63-zone Dual-layer sensor designed to complement the 9-point AF system. By taking into account the color and luminosity surrounding chosen AF points, this system delivers an advanced level of accuracy for better results even in difficult lighting situations. Since the metering sensor has a color measurement function, exposure errors and focus errors caused by different light sources are minimized; the EOS Rebel T3i gives stable exposure from shot to shot in situations where light changes, such as in a theater or concert hall. Since the EOS Rebel T3i provides high-speed X-sync (“X-sync” means the fastest shutter speed that can synchronize with a flash burst at the moment the shutter is fully released) up to 1/200 sec., the range of photographic expression is dramatically increased.

4 out of 5 eggsMy First DSLR

Pros: Style, look, feel, weight

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: This is my first DSLR camera. I have always loved photography but historically used advanced point and shoot cameras. The T3i seemed to be a good transition into the DSLR world. I like the DVD it comes with to give me an overview of the camera and show me how to use it.

5 out of 5 eggsThis is what i wanted in the first place

Pros: I had the t2i 1st, I sold it to buy the T3i because of the flip out lcd. i want a canon camara with with the flip out lcd that was under $900. they didn't have none at the time. so i had to settle for the t2i. but now i own the t3i and yeah i am happy with the flip out lcd. Now i can take pics of my self and see how it will loop before i shoot.

Cons: none, but i wish there were more iso options for both t2i and t3i

5 out of 5 eggsSimply an Amazing Camera

Pros: 18MP, 1080p Video, Nice stock lens, great materials, tilt display, tons of modes, manual focus, came with gift from newegg with bag and 4gb sdhc card, 3 day free shipping was here in 2.5 days - good job. I am very happy about this purchase, the battery took 20 mins to charge, so that's nice too. The pictures are amazing, the light in dark rooms is enhanced and it looks terrific. I feel like a pro now :P

Cons: Since I have never owned a DSLR camera and still consider myself a young person I would say it was only the price that was holding me back. But now I realize that this is actually a pretty good deal, simply because most 18MP cameras + lenses go for 1200 or 1500 dollars (which, as an amateur, is too much for me)
Short: 799 made me hesitate but in the end was well worth it

Other Thoughts: Ok, so I have owned multiple 100 to 200 dollar digital cameras and the pictures look ok, but always very 2 dimensional. I was somewhat always surprised that my friends, who owned DSLR, cameras made professional photos and create banners and advertising, so I made the move and guess what: It is really the camera and the lens that make the difference, I shot a photo of my dog as the first picture (using manual focus to blur out the background) and just wanted to see if it turns out nicely. and it did, the photo looked like it was made by some professional dog photographer who has been taking photos of dogs for years. So I was amazed, and it is quite fun to shoot pictures of everything (and I have only tried one mode so far :P ) My friends think I am annoying because I always go to them and tell them "O-M-G look at this one, and this one."
So yes, I am very happy. I wonder what else it can do, I might just read a manual for once and watch some youtube videos about shooting pictures with

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Camera

Pros: The camera is easy to use, produces great quality photos and really teaches amateurs like me to fiddle around with a professional camera. This might not be the #1 For Amateur Cameras out there, but it comes close

Cons: Slightly expensive but for good reason. Would have bought the T3 version instead of the T3i but I believe it is worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Entry-level DSLR

Pros: The selling factor for me on this one is the adjustable LCD screen. I do a lot of video recording and that really helps. The pictures are quite crisp and vivid as long as you know how to set your shooting mode. The zoom level on the 18-55mm kit is a bit short for me so I guess i have to buy a better zoom lens. The feature info gives you an idea of the different stuff like aperture, shutter speed and color balance etc. It records 1080p so if you are thinking of buying an HD camcoder, might as well get this. Couple with good lenses, your video recording session will look better on this unlike on HD cams that have limitation.

Cons: Because of the camera restrictions, it can only record to about 4gb of video each time using .MOV file type. Video recording session stops automatically so continuous recording is not possible. I'm getting just about 12mins or record time then have to start a new session. I wish Canon used a more compressed format like .MP4 or even .MKV. Not sure if they can solve this with a firmware update. If you can get pass that issue then, this is for you. I still rate it at 5 eggs!

5 out of 5 eggsForget the 60D!!!

Pros: Same sensor as 7D and 60D = excellent image quality!
Tilt and swivel display just like 60D (T3 doesn't have it)
Video quality is outstanding and manual focus during video is easy, just takes a little practice :)
Casing is plastic but feels very solid / high quality

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Get T3i and spend your extra money on a 50mm f/1.8 for low light and portraits and a Tamron 18-270mm all-in-one lens for everything else!

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent entry level DSLR

Pros: - Swivel screen, for when you can't get your eye where it needs to be.
- High ISO makes night shooting easy
- Fast, both in start up, and time to write images to your SD card (Use a class 10 or better for the best results). I can get a 21 shot burst on my 16GB PNY card before the buffer fills.
- Easy to use interface. Quick buttons for the settings you'll adjust most.
- High Megapixel count for larger prints.
- Durable, see other thoughts.
- Good battery life.
- Plenty of lenses to choose from.

Cons: - Canon's RAW processing software is nothing special. It basically just let's you apply the same settings the camera would have applied with little control. It works, but doesn't let you use RAW to it's full potential. Photoshop's Camera Raw is an excellent choice if you have the money.
- A little more color noise at the higher ISOs than I would like. No more so than you would expect in an entry level DSLR.
- Kit lens isn't going to give you the most crisp images, but it's great if you are just starting.
- It's not the D60 I had wanted initially (which has the better pentaprism), but nobody had it in stock for some time, and I don't regret the decision on the T3i

Other Thoughts: I'm well over 8000 shots into this camera's life, so I think it's safe for me to right a review. I am Extremely satisfied with this purchase as my first DSLR. I brought it to my sister's wedding and ended up taking some 1200 pictures over 4 hours. A week later, after I had time to run them all through photoshop, she was wishing she'd pocketed the grand the wedding photographer got.

As for the durability, I can personally account for Canon's ability to make a survivable product. My camera took a pretty big fall when I was out shooting in the woods by a river, and by a fall, I mean my 240 lbs person went tumbling, camera in tow, and it found itself wedged between me and several rocky surfaces. After some initial worry, I wiped the mud off, snaps some shots, and was relieved to find that it still worked. Here it is five months later, and it's still taking quality shots.

I wish newegg would allow pictures to be attached to reviews.
